I have been to The Salt Pad a handful of times and the experience has been great. I suffer with allergies and needed a new method to help me out. So I tried The Salt Pad and it helped. Breathing in the pink himalayan salt, helps to ease allergies and breathing. After I had left and headed home, I felt better. I don't go as much as I should, but regular visits will keep you in top shape when it comes to allergies and breathing. The Salt Pad is located on the upper level of the plaza, above Jason's Deli and the Mexican restaurant on the side facing Woodlawn. There is a waiting area available until your appointment time. Then you put your belongings in a locker and head into the room for 50-60 minutes of treatment. The staff is super helpful and explain the process to you if it's your first time. So, I definitely hate to break the 5 star run, but The Salt Pad left me wanting a little more. I joined a friend for a 40 minute salt pad session at The Salt Pad and can say the space is very inviting, clean and definitely provides for a relaxed atmosphere. After check in you are required to put all personal items in a locker, and like Sydney H. mentioned, this includes cell phones. So, it definitely allows you to disconnect and enjoy the relaxing experience. Once in the room, you may select a seat. The floor is layered in salt, so definitely bring some socks. In addition, they do offer blankets, or you can bring your own, that you can bring in the room if you are someone who gets cold. Needless to say I brought my own, and was happy I did. Before the session, the instructor provides an overview of the experience, what the salt does for you and your body, and the session begins. Yes, it definitely was relaxing, but I think I expected more. I definitely didn't fall asleep or anything, and wanted to feel the salt more in the air. Having never been to one before I guess my expectations were a little high. Overall, I think it is worth a visit, and definitely think there are some benefits for people with certain respiratory issues. read more

The Salt Pad is home to the best therapy I could have imagined after 3 grueling months of pain from an auto accident. Garrett is extremely accommodating and kind. He has knowledge beyond any of my other practitioners and has been accommodating to my schedule. He is very supportive of me and he does an excellent job communicating. Overall pretty good experience. Something new I decided to try. Very relaxing. Nice soothing music. Most people in the room fell asleep. Was told to bring socks and dress warm since the rooms are kept 68-70 degrees. Also brought a blanket. Areas for improvement: Room temp - found the room quite warm actually, leaving me wishing they wiped down the chairs first as it was already very warm. Wouldn't have minded a warm room if I hadn't been prepared for a cold one. Locker keys- Also wasn't overly thrilled that I had to put my things in a locker that I didn't get the key to until I was ready to get my stuff out. Seems very odd to make people use a locker and not give them the key to the locker that holds their items, money, credit cards, etc. since I could hear someone open and close the locker this left me anxious during the session vs full relaxation, likely a client but still had my brain going. read more

Quite a unique experience. Solid 3 and a half stars. It's pretty hard to find. It's in a shopping center on the top floor next to a fitness studio. There is plenty of free parking. Upon entering I was greeted and completed a form front and back. I checked online and read previous reviews to gage what to expect. You lay in a chair and listen to music for 40 minutes. It is suppose to a super relaxing and holistic healing experience. I went at 9:00 AM and you could hear the blasting dance studio music on top of the relation music. Some people could sleep through it, but I couldn't quite relax. It would of been nice for it to be in a quieter location. I took my mom who can sleep through anything. She found the 40 minute nap to be quite relaxing. The salt is suppose to have healing properties. However you have to do multiple sessions to see or feel the benefits. I have bad allergies and figured I might see minimal relief afterwards. However I didn't notice any big changes. With that being said a living social deal or Groupon is pointless. It just gets you a discount on your first visit here. I asked another person doing the sessions what inspired her and she said it helped with her bronchitis and did three sessions. She noted she won't be returning since she is better. I can say the staff was nice and friendly. They had two rooms one for adults only and one for children and adults. When I left my session around 10:00 there were people waiting. The person who worked their guided people to the room and lockers. No one cleaned or wiped off the chairs people just laid on? Hmmm... well it's up to you to decide if this experience is something you would like to try. read more

Okay guys, I finally got sucked into the hype and went to a salt room. I have seen it on different shows and definitely was intrigued so I gave it a shot. We arrived around 12 on a Tuesday and the check in was pretty easy. My friend and I filled out a form similar to a massage form but this moreso focused on different ailments that the salt room should help with. Personally I believe there is great healing in salt but my goal was to go and relax. But if salt healing is your thing it is said to treat small ailments including asthma, knee pain, sinuses, etc. As I mentioned injustice wanted to relax. The room has several loungers spread out and the floor is entirely covered with Himalayan salt. Find a spot and prepare to get some of the best sleep you probably have had since being a toddler sleeping on a mat. The quiet was also a great separation from the regular hustle of the everyday workday. Would I go again? Yes. I think if I lived closer I would invest in a package so I would just be able to zen out for a while each week. Tips: Check Groupon or Livingsocial for a deal first. I got a pretty sweet deal for 2 people for around 20 bucks! Make sure to bring a pair of socks and a blanket to take a nap. This place is amazing and the concept is the bomb!! Garett makes you feel very welcomed and appreciated for being there. My friend and I did a 40 min salt therapy session. Neither of us had even heard of it but we decided what the heck?! We put all of our stuff in a locker, phones and electronics included, which forces you to disconnect and relax. You must have socks. You walk into a room that has salt covering the floor, you choose a seat and relax. Garett will come and explain everything and that's it, you just relax! I thought this place would be cool to check out because I've heard great things about salt spas and acupunture. I have severe allergies and tend to have sinuses as well. I found out about the salt pad on groupon and purchased the deal. I purchased one 40 minute sessions for two people. I am glad that I did! The receptionist was extremely friendly and knowledable about the company and the many benefits that the salt pad provides. Upon entering, the guests are prompted to place their items in lockers. The session began on time and was very relaxing. During the session I fell asleep and actually began coughing, which was the salts way of clearing out my system (maybe take water?!?) -_- There is also a kids salt room with interactive toys and is a smaller room to accommodate the little ones! Been coming to the Salt pad on and off for years. My daughter was born prematurely and i had a bad blood transfusion with her birth. After also a head injury which left me with chronic migraines and aches i decided to get back full force into coming back. Ok so I've never been to anything like this before and normally like my salt on my food but would for sure go back to The Salt Pad in a heartbeat. My girlfriend has a terrible cold on top of allergies and I am just congested with allergies, or should I say were. First off not only was the owner Garrett one of the nicest people I've ever met and super accommodating but this really worked. Not 10 minutes into the session did both of our congestion start subsiding but we felt like different people after. The room was so relaxing and from start to finish was just a great experience. So-I took my sister to the salt pad for the first time for both. I guess my expectations were higher. Yes it was relaxing-however the overview was about 2 minutes which was fine. But when it was over nothing was said regarding the expectations to follow. So happy I did a groupon! One star for the experience.
