This is a long over due negative review. I was in a spell of insomnia.Vivian listened to my history and l apologized several times for being so tired as l'd had no sleep for days. She was very matter of fact and clinical with no warmth and told me these chronic ailments take awhile and I would need to come 3x a week for 20 sessions. I said well let's see how today goes, which she then informed me she wouldn't start treatment unless I commit to the whole package. I had never worked with her and had no idea if she was a competent acupuncturist or if my body responded to her type of treatment. She didn't come off as someone you'd trust to heal you by her cold disposition. I told her my husband was out of town so l couldn't commit to 20 sessions without talking things over with him. She shook her head no. How on earth could she expect anyone to agree to that with no previous experience with her? I thought maybe in my exhaustion I had irritated her and she was just giving me a deal no one would take but what kind of healer would do that knowing a sick person is just a shadow of themselves? My wife and I are regular patients of Dr. Vivian and we have made demonstrable progress in managing chronic pain issues with accupuncture. As a Senior, I have severe stenosis and arthritis in my lower back, L1-L5. After a regular regimen of treatment, I have put my wheely walker away and have significantly reduced cane use. Mobility without pain or difficulty is certainly not overated. For the last three weeks, I have experienced a gout attack in my left foot with excruciating pain. Those of you that have gout know. It is disabling and I could not walk without extreme discomfort. I did take the recommended drugs like colchicine with no effect. I was referred by a family friend . I had never had acupuncture before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I had been having really bad pain in my shoulder for two weeks. And I went in for a consultation and we got a care plan together. I wasn't sure how I would feel but wow I never knew acupuncture could be so relaxing. I went in for my first appointment and nothing really changed in my shoulder. I had another appointment two days later and felt a little better. And then my number three appointment! Noisy - you can hear all the buzzers going off when you're trying to relax. I regret to say that I cannot support a clinic that does not observe covid protocol. When asked why no one was wearing a mask, Dr. Vivian became defensive and said something about the CDC says mask don't make a difference! Tell that to all the health care professionals that wear them ....and only after that did she ask me if I wanted her to wear one. Ashley, the receptionist, when asked to please wear a mask as I am immune compromised, became surly and harumphed down the hall a couple times and came back with a mask barely on. Wow!! No words to describe how amazing Dr Weng is! Dr Weng has to be one the most gifted acupuncturist around. She has an amazing gift of intuition. Another LONG overdue review...... Dr Weng is a HEALING GODDESS!! I credit her with helping to break me out of a very challenging period in my life...I literally felt 15 years younger after my first treatment with her!! My backgournd is in chinese medicine and I have seen MANY acupuncturists since 1991. Words are not adequate to describe what she does, but I would just say that she is an extremely loving, gifted, dedicated, and intuitive healer. I had 2 different people implore me to go see her because she had helped them release some negative energy and emotions from trauma they had experienced. That got my attention! So, I decided to pay her a visit. Healing is SO much more than just relief from physical symptoms, and I can honestly say that I felt much lighter, more relaxed, and an almost child-like carefree spirit in the susequent weeks after her treatment and in the follow up visits. I followed her recommendation and went regularly; I did a series of treatments for about a month. I consider this to be one of the most beneficial things I did in 2013-a turning point in my healing. Also, her rates are beyond reasonable! And, the location is NOT that far from central San Diego.....it's about a 15-20 min drive from downtown, not far from a few major freeways. There is acupuncture and chiropractic, my mom found this place and has Kaiser and they accept it. I've been to the chiropractor who talks to my body and is wonderful. Read other positive YELP reviews, so I thought I'd try Dr Weng. I will NOT be returning. It took me two weeks to get in for first appointment. This office is VERY busy, which is wonderful for this business, but not so great for new patients. Arrived a few minutes early and was greeted by a very friendly office person. + Waited for 40 minutes before I was seen - I've had acupuncture treatments for over 5 years with the same acupuncturist. We talked for 15-20 minutes each session and she assessed me emotionally and physically. It was a very spiritual experience. I moved to San Diego from another state which is why I tried Dr Weng We only talked for 10 minutes and this was after my 40 minute wait. She asked me the same questions multiple times and I felt like she wasn't listening to me. I followed her down a hall and she wasn't even sure which room was free or clean. Then said, lay down and pointed to a paper covered bed. Nothing spiritual or energy based in the experience. The WORST part was the acupuncture. Like I mentioned, I had treatments from the same acupuncturist for 5 years and I NEVER felt pain when the needles were inserted. Dr Weng was so aggressive that I literally cried out in pain! EVERY needle inserted was painful. I was SHOCKED! She poked a bunch of needles in my scalp, said pray, and left. It was weird and rushed and not relaxing at all. I'm usually so relaxed and meditative during acupuncture sessions that I reach a very Zen place and often fall asleep. Dr Weng inflicted pain and abruptly left. After about 10 minutes I willed myself to relax and then the room door opened and someone popped their head in for no reason I know of. Serenity lost. Next, I overhear the constant ding of various timers going off. Then, I hear someone in another room talking on their mobile. Mobiles were NOT allowed on in my previous acupuncturist's office. I was never able to relax. After some time, Dr Weng came back in, removed needles, and left. Someone I had not seen said, "okay. Goodbye" to me without even looking at me. Again, weird. No one was at the front desk when I walked into the lobby, so I could have just left without paying. I have too much integrity to do that. As I was waiting for the credit card to run through, I casually ran my hands through my hair and the front office worker asked, "Oh, did you find a needle? She leaves those in there a lot." I just stared at her thinking WTF?!? Part of acupuncture is the order you put in the needles and the order you take them out. AND, oh yeah, removing all needles. I really, really wanted to like Dr Weng, especially after reading such positive reviews and because I am in need of a good session. In general, I highly recommend acupuncture for physical and emotional healing. I cannot recommend this Dr or office (other acupuncturist and chiropractor housed there). This was the WORST acupuncture session I've ever had. read more

Dr.Weng is absolutely amazing. She had given me some seriously profound experiences I've ever had in mental relaxation and what it's like to let go.. If you are coming in expecting one thing of pain relief or something similar you will get it I am certain, but you will also get so so much more. When you arrive you open her front door and the fresh soothing aroma gently fills your senses and you are greeted quietly and kindly. Automatically you are in a sacred place. Once you're checked in and the Good Dr. is ready to see you they'll show you to a clean and very private room where if you're a lady like me you come down to your bra and panties. Don't be alarmed, the beds are warmed and their are cozy blankets and heaters to keep you at maximum comfort. Dr. Weng comes in and greets you and - with my experiences, she presents herself to you, and you tell her where you hurt - do you have a pinched nerve, or a sore knee or a broken/sad heart? She will gently lay you down and she will chant, hum, sing and oM as she deftly places needles in your meridians. I have seen her many times and the first time was so profound, I must give you the short version of my story: she had come in, and I had suffered a great loss in my life and my heart was very heavy. She listens without any words being spoken and she is truly genuine. She laid me down after taking my pulse and listening to my energy and asked me what was hurting me. The very last needle she placed was in my left wrist and this avalanche of emotion swept over me and I started to try and hold back my heavy sobs. She assured me to let go and cry as I needed to. She was incredible. Any thing you feel - don't hold back! That session I did with her was the most relaxed and relieved I had ever felt in my life. I went back multiple more times after and got serious satisfaction from her sessions. She is so comfortable to be around. I noted and discovered after a few months that her 2 daughters work along side of Dr Weng also! What a treat - one session her daughter gave me a treatment and I was equally impressed. I did not have a good experience with Dr. Audrey Vaughn. I went there with a recommendation from a friend and because she takes Kaiser. I checked with Kaiser in advance and they gave me approval. When I went to my app't they told me I was not approved so I went ahead with the app't thinking I could get reimbursed from Kaiser. They said I was supposed to get a 25% discount and to check back with Weng's. I have called them 3 times over the last month and they keep saying they will check it out and I never heard back from them so I would not recommend them. That is not a good way to do business! read more

My experience with acupuncture with Dr. Weng has been life-changing. With 3 herniated discs, and 2 back operations over the past 20 years (discectomies) I have lived with pain in my lower back and glutes for several years. Physical therapy typically helps, along with chiropractic adjustments and massages, however starting about 2 months ago the pain kept getting worse and nothing seemed to help. The stress of my job had increased, causing even more back spasms. After one treatment with Dr. Weng I realized both pain relief, and stress and anxiety relief. I had 5 treatments over 8 days, and continued to get better with each session. I now receive treatment once a week, which is as much for stress relief as back maintenance.
