There are a lot of questions asked about the patient's medical history for which it's best to allow time for either reflection or to ask family member members for help. Another is to sit with a list of medications, dosage, and frequency to give the doctor a good, all-around view of your health conditions. It took me a couple of sessions - just information gathering - to complete it fully. This is is only a preview of things to come. Dr. Lala himself has a very calming and reassuring demeanor. He immediately put my mind at ease by asking me what was making me nervous and addressed it right then. During this first visit, it was very clear he is extremely thorough. He asked A TON of questions but, at no point, did I feel judged in any way. As a plus-size woman, menopausal woman, this was a HUGE relief. He actually validated some of my concerns related to my migraines when other doctors disputed them. Now the needles... On the whole, I didn't feel them at all. I followed his instructions to change my diet (no cold foods) and took the herbs he prescribed. I finally stopped taking the herbs after a couple weeks (Adam was not pleased, "Do you WANT to get better??") because they come in a powder form that does not dissolve in water. So I was hesitant to try this therapy out. I have a very old knee injury to my left knee. It has been twice the size of my right knee for 24 years. My sports injury doctor really was at a loss, so he sent me to see Melanie and told me she was fabulous. I trust this man, so I called and made an appointment. I came for my first appointment and Melanie made me feel very comfortable and at ease with everything. She explained what she was going to do and doing every step of the way. I stared at the ceiling because I didn't want to watch the needles going in. I didn't even feel the first couple and barely felt the 3rd, after that it was very easy. After my first session I was very relaxed, so relaxed that I wanted to take a nap. I never nap. She explained to me that since this injury was so old, it was going to take a while and several sessions to see a difference. What I noticed after the first session was an immediate lessening of pain. What I noticed after a few sessions was that my swelling had started to go down. It's amazing, I can actually wear high heels again, and I have not been able to in a long long time. On one of my sessions I came in and my neck was painful, so I laid face down and had my neck worked on too, that was awesome.
