The gallery owner and manager were super approachable and friendly. They shared more information about the artists and pieces that I liked. I've driven by a few times and have seen the collections change, so I realize that I could be dropping in weekly to see more works!

I felt like I was bothering him when I asked questions about the different brands they offered, but the other guy working there was pleasant and helpful. They charged $250 for both pictures, and I left. When I picked them up, one picture was great, but the other picture had the mat on backwards. The beveled edge sloped the wrong way so that where the picture ends and the mat begins, there was a sharp point sticking out that you could slide your fingernail under. I didn't notice in the store but called them when I got home and the quiet employee answered the phone. He said that all large pictures are mounted that way because it was the only way the machine could cut a mat that size. He asked "Don't you like the 3D look?" since the picture looked like it was recessed further than usual. This was all a cover up for a sloppy job since the only issue was that the wrong side of the cut mat was glued to the picture and dry mount board. Instead of apologizing, he blamed me for not liking his work. I took it back the next day to have them fix it, and the helpful employee was at the desk. He apologized and said they would fix it free of charge. When I picked it up a week later, the mat's orientation was correct, but it had ragged edges around the opening of the picture, and it was not adhered to the foam board. I posted pictures of the mat and backing separation, and ragged edges examples. I will definitely not be returning to this store. I've learned my lesson.

There are 3 levels, and on the ground floor there are models of old torpedos. The rebirth and repurposing of an old factory is very meaningful, as it is now a haven for local artists. I understand with old architecture there may be constraints, but given how popular this place is, it is fair to ask.

The Frary Gallery is a small art gallery inside the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center. It's…read morereally very small, but we stopped in yesterday to see their current exhibit, "Strong, Bright, Useful & True: Recent Acquisitions and Contemporary Art from Baltimore." Since we live in Baltimore, I loved that JHU put on a show of works by artists from our home/their hometown. The gallery really is tiny; I can't imagine anyone spending more than 15-30 minutes tops inside. But I thought the exhibit was really incredible for such a small gallery! I knew of several of the artist with pieces in the exhibit: Derrick Adams, Erin Fostel, Jerrell Gibbs, Joyce J. Scott. Their pieces were great, but I was thrilled to learn about other Baltimore artists I wasn't familiar with before visiting the gallery, too. When you arrive at the building (the old Newseum, only really spruced up - I hadn't been inside since it was the Newseum), you take a right - you'll see the gallery just to the right of the security desk. A staff member sits at a desk outside the gallery to welcome you in (you can make an appointment on their website, but I can't imagine you need one - no one else was at the gallery when we visited in the afternoon on a Saturday). There's not a public bathroom for people visiting the gallery, but the gallery is so tiny, you shouldn't be inside too long (you can pop across the street to a museum to use the restroom there if you need). All in all, I really enjoyed their exhibit, and I'd be happy to visit again for an exhibit in the future.

It resides in a strip mall that appears to be multiple auto repair shops. I visited the shop seeking to have a mirror, which I've had for many years, prepared for hanging. Joyce greeted me immediately, with a smile of humor at my expression. I didn't expect such a large quantity of art. The shop is small. Since time was a factor, I ascertained whether Joyce would accept my project. She would and she did a great job. In addition, she was knowledgeable, cheerful, friendly, polite and interesting during the time I was there. When I left, with my now usable mirror, I felt I was leaving a new friend.
