5 stars are not enough to rate Alex Wentworth as a mechanic or a businessman. Alex has nursed my '77 VW Bus along for over a dozen years. It was always an "adventure" to drive (I never knew how far I'd get), but Alex kept me going until it was time to change the engine out about 8 years ago. While it was there, he replaced the tent top because he had an extra one that he gifted me. Since Alex replaced the engine, it's run flawlessly. Over time, he's replaced just about everything mechanically and it's held up over time. My bus remains a joy to drive! Alex and his wife Kristen have always been wonderful in the way that they run their business. They always advise me ahead of time if the bill may run higher than expected- there have never been any surprises. I am so grateful for his help over the years, and for the ability to trust someone implicitly with my bus. read more

My wife and I take her VW here as well as my Acura. They are always as accommodating as possible with appointment times. It can take a few days to get an appointment but they always have your car done on time or even earlier than they say they will. They have helped me out by replacing my starter really quickly before a weekend(they are closed weekends). Prices for labor and parts are fair and I never felt like I was overpaying. They are also very straight up with you about necessary repairs and the urgency of the repairs. They won't try and fix things unnecessarily to pad your bill, but at the same time will let you know if something important needs to be fixed soon. Let's face it, nobody likes having to fix their car, but it's nice to have a trustworthy mechanic, and I plan on continuing to bring both cars here. read more

Absolutely awesome. My mother brought her 2011 Audi A4 there for a new crank case vent valve. Extremely well priced. Both parts and labor were well within reason and roughly half of what the Audi dealership quoted us. We will be servicing her car here from now on. Alex is awesome! read more

I have a VW golf, 2006. Traveling caused some problems with my car. I had to stop at several other VW places on my way to MA. All the places kept telling me that I needed a new fuel pump, I needed a new fuel gauge, I needed needed.... When I got to Brewster someone told me to go and see Alex. I went. Alex took pictures of what other people had said was wrong with me car. In almost every case, the other mechanics didn't complete the job. So Alex connected some wires, he replaces used part (other people had put in my car) with new parts. My car was fixed in 2 days with a quarter of the price of four other places. Needless to say, I was quite impressed. Then two days after Alex 'fixed' my car, the engine light came on - yet again. I called him, but he didn't answer. I left my car in the middle of the night. The next morning he called and told me he fixed my car. I asked him how much more I was to pay him for this repair. He said - 'You don't owe me anything.' He told me that the a wire needed to be connected. He apologized for the problem. It has been two months and nothing else has gone wrong with my car. After traveling for three months and dealing with car repair people after car repair people, I am very thankful that I met Alex. I am extremely grateful that he finally fixed my car problems. BTW, I am a single woman. Most times it seems that mechanics take advantage of single women. Alex did not. I notice someone else here said that Alex didn't stand behind his work. That was his experience. My experience is that Alex Wentworth does stand behind his work 100%. read more

I've spent the past 18 years or so looking at the great cars they put out! Alex is a true master of his craft. I have seen the most amazing show cars to the beat up fun beach driver be handled with the same respect and honesty. He does not pad your bill with things that don't need to be fixed asap. Even saying ya that can go another 4 months but I would not go longer then that. If your looking for some help he is the guy to turn to! read more

would not recomend alex wentworth for any vw/audi work. he dose not stand behind his work. he will charge you for work that was never done. will also over charge you on parts. $250. for labor to install transimission. sub par work. new flange seals were never installed. ass a result all the transmission fluid leeked out. i was only able to drive my 86 gti 100 miles. took it back to wentworth the next day. he would not stand behind his work. but wanted to sell me a new vw. lame. my car left on a flatbead to bennett. it cost me $250 for the new tranny and $740. for the parts and labor at bennett. but they did an awsome job to car back on the road. plus i was able to get a refund on the transmission wentworth ruined. $100. for labor that was never done. heater,oil leek and rear wiper. $149. for mintex front brake pads. german auto parts has them for $34. read more

fabulous!!!! i've been bringing my '76 vw convertible to alex over the past 6 years.....brakes, front suspension work, electrical, etc....super knowledgeable, very good with the older models, honest pricing. also had my son bring his '07 passat to wentworth. everyone needs a go-to local garage to avoid the dealership rip-offs. read more
