(after my visit I realize that this is b/c "Doctor Joe" is such a sweetie, gives you plenty of time and attention and HELPS YOU!!!!). I signed in, per the sign, on the computer. I waited for almost a half hour before inquiring about my appointment. They spelled my last name wrong, a common mistake for me, unfortunately - an i before e thing . . . I then was taken to my table and waited for Dr. Iannelli for about 20 minutes. I played on my cell, but there was a sign to not, plus to relax. Okay, I put my "pacifier" away as instructed. In floats "Doctor Joe." What a doll baby. (I'm biased to Italians, I must admit - "we" are warm and loving people (in general!). We talked in depth about my issues, concerns, and overall health. He explained exactly what he would be doing (ie - adjustments). He was spot on about where my pain was and told me the exact corresponding vertebrae - so wild! I am very much into alternative medications and holistic healing. Dr. Iannelli gave me post appt instructions and warned me that I might be sore the next day, etc. I followed my instructions (icing and laying flat on a hard floor for 3-5 minutes b/f bed) and even went to bed 1/2 hour earlier (I have terrible sleep hygiene!) and woke up FEELING BETTER. NOT my imagination. My range of motion was much better and my pain level probably went down from a 9 to a 6 ? I told Dr. Patel I wanted to see medical literature recommending this therapy. I conducted a medical literature search. Dr. Patel said he looked for articles for me. Neither I nor Dr. Patel found even a single article suggesting this therapy was appropriate and helped people with back pain. Not one article.. I did not pursue further care at this clinic.

Additionally, I expressed the treatment I was agreeable to prior to my appointment and the reasons why. Instead I was greeted by Dr. Derek with another sales pitch. I get very turned off by sales pitches. I don't believe it is patient centered. I'm mindful of my time and expect others to be as well. As a practitioner I don't recommend multiple interventions to my clients because it is important to measure the effectiveness of one. The office was very chaotic. I associate wellness with calmness. I don't know if I have ever experienced anything like this before. I lost valuable time from my work and being in pain did not help the matter. I believe in the practice of efficiency and respect when dealing with clients. The wellness center is lacking in both areas. I am a researcher and practitioner who is not sold on anything offered in the moment. The push to sell me something I was told about a minute in my conversation with Dr. Derek was alarming. My decision making process is not impulsive. It is aligned to the best practices supported by research. I also have excellent insurance. Prior to my visit I confirmed what my insurance would pay for because of my medical history only for Dr. Derek to add it to the $6000 treatment package. I did not accept the package. I was given a 10 minute PEMF session in a small less than comfortable room with other patients. This is an absolute no for me. I rather pay for treatments at a place where I sense authenticity from the doctor and where my time is respected.
