Good guys. The people here were really great, especially considering that they were non-stop with customers & phone calls the entire time there. Everyone including buyers and target shooters were pretty ok. I've called them 4 times with questions and input and got through to a helpful person every time. Not so much in other places I tried. They have a decent selection and a shooting range there too. With all this year's surge in buying they could likely use more space! read more

This is literally relaxing as crazy as that sounds! Took my niece here for her birthday and came here another time before (I'm economical & researched lol used groupons!!)...I love the friendly smile and greeting as you come in and someone asks you what you'd like to do...no weirdness about using your groupon...the staff were informative and very helpful and just a pleasant experience, the waiting area is comfy, I even may purchase one soon...it really is relaxing to just simply focus on something and shoot...hopefully I'll get better at it soon and start to shoot different guns lol :) read more

Just purchased a Mossberg Shockwave and a Sig Sauer here after much research. Bill and Pierce were a huge help in deciding what worked best for us. They were incredibly knowledgeable and assisted us in not only selecting our firearms, but also walked us through operating our first shotgun. Great guys! If you're looking for a firearm but don't have enough experience to make a decision, Garden State is the place for you. There is also a nice lounge with tv and vending machines where you can wait for a spot in the firing range. A classroom in the back has plenty of seating with a safety video for newbies. Decided to do some daddy/daughter time with my daughter home from college. She'd never shot before, I had shot a handgun in a range once before. The sign in process was easy- a couple of forms and review of a safety video. We rented a Glock and the guy at the counter refreshed my memory how to shoot it, and gave my daughter an orientation on shooting a pistol. The range officer was there if we'd needed him. I could tell he could tell we were novices and he was keeping an eye in us in case we needed help. We shot two boxes of ammo and used two targets. By the time we were done we were pros :). Great for new & women shooters. Bigger and cleaner than SS. Friendly, helpful staff. Range officers are wonderful guys. Looking forward to stopping by on ladies night. My two complaints are 1. Ultrasonic cleaning is not available. They charged me extra to clean a Ruger MKIII. 2. On more than one occasion I've had men try to cut in front of me when I'm waiting in line to speak with someone behind the counter. read more

Got a Groupon for $33 for 2ppl.. however you have to pay for ammunition, so the Groupon is just the gun rental. The place is nice and clean. Friendly staff, specially Ray. Thank you Ray you made me feel comfortable with the loud noise and you were so patient teaching me to hold the gun... you're the best! Overall my boyfriend and I had a great time, the loud noise from whatever crazy thing my neighbor next to us was shooting had me jumping but after awhile my nerves calmed and it was time to go lol. WOW!!! This is the place to go. SOOOO AMAZING!!! Took the training course and rented two guns to shoot for an hour. They let me shoot for almost 2 hours, at 1st my safety officer Ray (I think he said his nickname is Scutts) helped me load the clips and learn to shoot straight but everyone there helped out and were very patient with me being a beginner. Can't wait to go again (soon). read more

Be careful going to this place. They have major issues with lead poisoning and most of their employees getting lead poisoning due to their air filter system not working properly. They refuse to fix it properly and haven't paid fines issued my OSHA for having a contaminated system. I would find another place to shoot. read more

I went to Garden State Shooting Center for the first time today and had a great experience. I am not an avid shooter but they were very accommodating and made me feel comfortable. The facilities themselves are very nice, clean and you can tell they try and keep a good appearance. The staff was very friendly and would just casually engage in conversation with you just to be nice. Coming from NYC that was very welcomed. They were also very professional which made me feel safer and allowed me to focus solely on having a good time. I don't write Yelp reviews often but thought this place deserved me taking the time to write something because I know they took the extra time to make my time that much better. It's safe, clean, well maintained, and the staff are always there to help when need be. Their firearm selection is pretty top notch and if they don't carry or have what you're looking for in stock, they can most likely get it for you. The range masters do keep a very close eye on those in the lanes and will step in if they see safe practices not being followed. Garden State Shooting Center is definitely my go-to for a local public range. read more

If you rent their guns you MUST USE THEIR AMMO. 9MM ammo is $30 for 50 rounds, That is crazy. The going price for 9mm right now on the date of this review is about 20 cence a round( or 10-12 dollers for a box of 50). NOT 60 cence a round LIKE THEY WANT. Wasn't very happy with the place. They treat you like you're an idiot. Wanted my father in law to try a Glock 17, guy at counter argued with me and told me not to give him a Glock, too temperamental. When he asked if I'm a cop or military in a condescending way, told him both and was a weapons instructor. Rented a Beretta, it kept double feeding and brought it to their attention. Kid at counter told me " nothing wrong, it's you". When I stated i had to do secondary clearing and he magazine needed a new follower spring, he looked at me like I had two heads. He finally tested the weapon, fired 3 rounds, and told me " nothing wrong, you don't know what you're talking about sir". Kind of insulting to tell a veteran and a Law Enforcement Officer who has been handling weapons longer that that kid was alive. Also, in the video they make you watch, they way they want you to clear a weapon is very strange, not what we were taught in the Navy or the Academy. The salesman, who I believe is the owner of the gunshop was insanely rude and displayed zero customer service skills. I called to ask a question about what he had in stock and he was insanely vague and elusive sounding as though I was inconveniencing him with my question. I said alright ill come look at them in person and he tells me, "no youre not." with no follow up reasoning, and so thrown off and confused i asked why that was, and he THEN decided to tell me, because its by appointment only. So I then ask to make an appointment... i show up and the gentleman hardly even speaks to me, I ask where the selection is that i was inquiring about and he points and does not try to help me with anything at all. I try to make small talk with him and ask how the virus effected his hours and he responds with, "ive been open since 77 guy cmon" in a very smug manner. I then clarify again that i was asking if the virus forced him to close for some time and he just ignores me and I then at this point had enough and just said thank you have a nice day. I will never bring any business of mine to this place, because of its awful awful first impression. read more

Tried this place on a Groupon, but I was disappointed. I spent $31 for the Groupon and they wanted me to shell out more money when I went there. The guy at the counter said we had to rent guns and purchase ammunition according to the fine print. When I looked at the fine print, it said nothing about having to purchase ammunition. It said ammunition was available at an additional cost. I had brought my own guns and a few hundred rounds, so I felt like having to spend additional money would just be a waste. Between their lack of customer service skills and the fact that they were not honoring the Groupon, I will go to the range I usually use. I didn't expect this given their high ratings online. Talk about complete disappointment. I'll go to the range down the street where I am treated with respect and my patronage is appreciated. I would have given zero stars, but that wasn't an option. read more

I'm a chinese, and i went to Garden and experienced firing a real gun for the first time today. they've got very professional and friendly staff, and taught us a lot about weapons(though i've learnt some of them from COD already: )). i tried a pistol(beretta 92f) and a rifle(something ar), both feels awesome. the only problem is that it is a little bit crowded,.and we have to wait, but for new shouters like us, it's a good chance to talk with the staff and study some theory before entering the range. read more

I went with my family to Garden State Shooting Center this weekend for my first time at a shooting range. I had a phenomenal time and am so glad I chose this location! My little sister and I were paired up with Ray in our lane who made the entire experience fun and relaxing. He worked with us up until the last minute before they closed, showing us how to properly use the guns in the most safe manner, proper technique for using them, and getting better shots. At the end the staff even took tons of pictures for us as they were closing. We definitely will be coming back here again. Thanks guys! read more

For someone who didn't end up following through with deciding to shoot the gun I was EXTREMELY comfortable and really enjoyed my experience. My boyfriend and I purchased a groupon and went to the range last night. We were greeted by friendly, and funny workers who were more than happy to assist in anything we needed, and were extremely patient. Of course you sign papers and watch a film once or twice which was very helpful for a first timer. I ended up being uncomfortable with how loud it was so I ended up staying out and watching, however when I explained how I felt about the noise they literally did EVERYTHING they could do to help me and I came to the conclusion that I will come visit them while it is a little bit more quieter during the week. My boyfriend said the range officers were patient, kind, and very helpful. For a first timer the experience can be thrilling, exciting and sometimes even a little nerve wracking but much of that relief was overcome by the supportive staff, I cannot wait to try again. read more
