I've been going to this range for years and always had a great experience. When I was a member I would come a couple times a month, it's a solid spot for regular practice. You can rent a firearm or bring your own, and they also have firearms available for purchase. The buying process was straightforward with no issues. It can get a bit pricey if you're going for a one-off visit, and ammo costs are on the higher side, so I usually buy mine in bulk to save. After dealing with them for over 2 years now I can give an honest review.. I have been to other ranges over that time as well, I have never found a place that has better customer service and they are the most helpful bunch of people I have ever met. You can ask them anything and one of their staff members has the answer. The gunsmith on premises has always helped me when I have an issue with one of my guns. The membership fee is reasonable for what you get. I strongly recommend becoming a member. you can practice any time with the membership and you will have first priority to get on the range. Bad experience. Customer service was terrible. Waited on line for the steroid junky at the counter to figure out a Groupon that did not exist for someone in line. After waiting 20 minutes I finally suggested that they take the paying customers and figure out the coupon situation on the side. I was then told that it's not a big deal that I was waiting 20 minutes. And when I said my time is a big deal, the person behind the counter said I don't need to shoot here then. So I walked out after an exchange some profanity started by the steroid guy. I was there to shoot with my girlfriend. Was going to buy a few boxes of rounds, targets, and pay for 2 people. Would have put over $100 in their register. They completely lost me as a customer and I will be spreading the word. I went there once before and the experience was ok but the range is outdated. The target run is operated with a toggle switch and you literally have to use a staplegun to secure your target to the bullet ridden cardboard. It is not a good place to go if you are more than a novice shooter. read more

My daughter wanted to go to a range so I found a Groupon and we came here. While it can get a bit pricey, there were 3 of us and Groupon was for 2. We paid for another person, rented another pistol and bought ammunition so it does add up, but it was a great time! The staff were absolutely amazing, friendly, helpful. Will definitely be back. This place is pretty great! I came here recently with my Brother in Law so he could practice his 2nd amendment right. I will say that they did sell him the wrong ammo on his second visit... Not sure if that was his fault or theirs... Other than that, this is a pretty nice place! It is a little out of the way in an industrial area, so if you arent familiar with the neighborhood, you will miss it! They could have a bigger sign lol, or something that makes them stand out better... Since it is in an industrial area, the building looks very industrial! Inside is a little cramped, but they pack a ton into a small space. When I was there staff was very friendly, but not 1 track minded. While he was filling out the necessary paperwork, one of the other employees said we are ordering 5guys, and he stopped to place his order. Not the biggest issue, the paperwork takes a while... The store side is very very clean! They also have a pretty decent selection. 80 ish pistols and 80 ish long guns. While I was there, the wait didnt seem to bad! Walk-ins were welcome! All in all, if I lived closer, I would be a member and visit more often! You should too! read more

The range is perfect, the staff is amazing and their selection of merchandise is great. We feel like family every time we come and have been loyal customers since our first visit! Got my permit and went right to shore shot due to their large selection of firearms to rent. After speaking with Paul we rented 3 that fit what we were looking for. Jack spent time going through the intricacies of each and after putting 50 rounds through each we made our decision. Dylan handled the purchase and answered every question we asked; as first time gun owners we had plenty. A few days later we were back to pick up our SAR9 and run 100 rounds through it. As it was my son's first time at the range, Dan took the time to assist him with his grip and give him some pointers. The staff, selection, and overall operation is great. Being a first time owner can be intimidating but shore shot is definitely the place to go to get assistance and try before you buy. Become a member of the range and receive a bunch of perks as well. Great place to buy a firearm weather it's your first time buying a firearm or you own multiple the staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and they take their time with you to make sure you're getting what you want and their firing range is extremely nice and the range officers are very friendly and helpful with people of all experience levels. My suggestion definitely buy the year membership to the range because you'll save money on range time and on ammo. Also if you buy a firearm from them and have an issue with it they do everything they can to help fix the problem. I should start this review by being sure to point out that I am the epitome of a recreational shooter. I'm a pretty good shot, but no where near the level of a shooter who does this regularly. I like to go to the range once or twice a year, just for fun. Shore Shot is perfect for me. They consistently have Groupons available that provide an hour lane rental, weapon rental, eye & ear protection and targets for under $40. Note that if you're renting a weapon, you need to have a partner, no solo rentals allowed! By the time you buy ammo, you can put 100 rounds of 9mm down range for under $100, not cheap, but reasonable. While there seem to be a pretty steady flow of regualrs/members here, Shore Shot's Groupon presence make them an obvious choice for first time shooters. I always rent either a Baretta 92 or an AR-15, weapons I'm very familiar with thanks to my time serving Uncle Sam, so my interactions with the Range personnel has been very limited, they have always been very polite, respectful and unobtrusive in my experience. I have also witnessed them going out of their way to instruct shooters as to how to safely operate their weapon and adjust shooting techniques with inexperienced and nervous shooters. The 12 lanes are well lit and ventilated, and the target systems seem well maintained. The range area does not seem terribly well insulated, so dress in layers during colder months. My only knock here is that wait times can get a bit lengthy, and the staff up front tends to underestimate the wait time on a consistent basis. My most visit this past Friday I was given an estimate of 15 mins., and it ended up being closer to 45. If you're looking for a nice clean indoor range to target shoot with your handgun or rifle, this is as good as it gets in NJ. If you've never shot before and want to give it a try, this place is perfect. read more

Took a ride down to Lakewood with the wife to shoot our new gun. You have to fill out a form and watch a safety video before you shoot. We brought our own gun so we didn't need to rent so we went right in. There were people ahead of us that were renting a gun that got a little pissy because we went before them. I assume they had to get a review of the weapon and maybe fill out paperwork before they got a lane, but a few minutes after we went in I saw them so they didn't wait long. Having never shot a pistol we needed some coaching. They took some time to show us how to load it, hold it, and fire it. They watched us fire a few shots and left us to practice. It was a blast!! You can rent pistols and rifles here as well as purchase a gun if you like. They also offer other gun related items in a small store section. Their ammo prices seemed a little high so we stopped at our local gun store to pick up more. If you want to shoot its definitely worth stopping by here. Its 20 bucks per person. A bit of a rip since we shared a lane but considering the cleanliness and professional instruction we received we didn't mind. read more

Friendly staff! Came with Groupon and with a total of 4 people on a Saturday about 1130am. It was getting busy but we were able to shoot fairly quickly. First we had to watch a short safety video clip and then it wasn't too long before we were given a shooting lane. Maybe waited 15 minutes or so. We had two sets of Groupon so we got a rifle and also a pistol the staff recommended. We had 4 boxes of rifle ammo(20 bullets each), and 2 (50bullets each) boxes of pistol ammo,($113 total for all the ammo). Took all four of us 2 hours to shoot. Staff taught us how to load and use the guns; how to to hold it, etc. It was fun. I would come back. It's just an hour and 10 minute drive from brooklyn. read more

Avoid this place!!! You'll be waiting for 45-1hr just to walk in. They keep changing prices of ammo depending on whose working and charge double for some ammo which you can get at any firearms store for half the price. For instance they charge $12 for a box of 5 rounds of shotgun shells which sells at the howell gun store for $6. First time in I purchased 9mm ammo at $35 for a box of 50rds. Two days later they charge me $40 told the guy what I paid the day before and he stated its changed. Right...shady and seems like they try to up charge people they think will just pay and don't know any better. Most of the guys are abrasive and stand-offish as well. Very unprofessional. Go elsewhere. Even had to wait an hour in line when there were only three customers in the shop with three employees at the front desk when doing an ffl transfer. read more

Having two new firearms that had never been used, the Mad Russian and I took a ride down to the shore on a threefold mission- Lunch, Shoot and collect my car from my garage. Having accomplished parts one and two of our quest, we proceeded to Shore Shot to carry out the trifecta to a perfect day. Once inside, with our guns in tow, we were helped within a few minutes and directed to "line 5". After the $20.00 per person non-member fee and some targets and two boxes of shells-- all told- $121.00, we were off on a new adventure. Having unpacked the two guns I brought, we began loading the 15 round clips with 9mm and 40 caliber rounds. Targets hung we at first went with an eight yard spacing to get a feel for the weight and kick of the firearms and were soon confident enough to increase the distance and fire away some more. Eddie, came over and gave some pointers to the Mad Russian and immediately her aim became more true, and our fourth target flew out to the 25 yard maximum range to give the 9mm assault rifle a final test for accuracy. After 200 rounds of shooting, we left the range elated and having felt that our day was complete and we found ourselves back in the showroom to peruse the huge collection of both new and used firearms available for purchase or rent. So, let me put it this way. The above rating is an overstatement of Shore Shot. I am usually not one to stray from businesses and try to do them wrong but I have had it with their subpar customer service. And, I wish it was just that--subpar. However, it's that and so much less; there may be one or two individuals there that actually care about you as a customer, and to those two guys I thank you but I wish your employees were as dedicated to the NJ gun community, (a very small community I may add). Your customers deserve more, and by more I mean: - Not being turned away for service. - Being treated like a decent human being. - Willing to help, engage, and educate new gun owners. - The ability to be PROFESSIONAL while being honest with your customers. The last point may be my key element here. They simply lack professionalism and patience. Now I could go into details, but I do not want to reveal specifics for a variety of reasons. All I am saying is, if you want a good time at a range, an easy purchasing process, and to be treated with respect, look elsewhere, and I mean anywhere that is not this place. It had to be said, too many of us are fed up with their disservice to Ocean County gun owners and range-goers.
