Excellent and always looks out for my feet. Dr Kobayashi diagnosed my gout when my regular primary kept calling it arthritis for years without testing me. I can't understand these doctors who diagnose without a blood test? Kobayashi with his years of experience knew what it was immediately and gave me a few samples of gout meds he had. About a week later everything went away. I can't really thank him enough for that. I returned back to all my spirts and physical activity. As he has done many times for my foot he is able to make what you need. With a few batches of tape he makes a custom support for your foot. If you can imagine a guy who makes animals with balloons, he is just like that but with tape. For most part, the guy has a great personality for the business. read more

This review is long overdue. I've known Dr. Kobayashi for 15 years. First meeting him when I was taking a client to him for treatment. She was nearly 100 years old and had been seeing him for years. Dr Kobayashi was always kind, compassionate, and gentle with her. When I started having a problem, Dr. Kobayashi offered to help me. He treated me for over a year for a difficult diagnosis. After 7 years, I have found myself in his office once again. Dr. Kobayashi doesn't push meds or surgery. He has done everything in his power to make my feet happy. This was a referral from Kaiser. The podiatrist department there had no appointments available both LA & Orange County thus they sent me to Dr. Kobayashi. He listen to me & then explained what I needed for long term solution. Did a minor surgery to heal my ingrown nail on both big toes. Was understanding of me when he had to do a local anaesthetic. Follow up appointment two weeks later was quick as my toes were healing just fine. First time here so GPS took me first on the back side parking lot of the building there's no entrance to his office here so must park in the parking lot of the front of the building. Front desk folks are really busy. So you kinda get the quick answer & not undivided attention. They also don't follow up well after appointment. Today was my 2nd visit here and have to say Dr Kobayashi is great with how he is helping with my newly acquired arthritis in my foot. He is very quick to assess the problem and render treatment. Oh and his bedside manner is awesome as well! Feels like he's an old friend already with the stories he's been telling me and the banter back and forth between us. His office walls are adorned with autographed pics of professional athletes and college athletes as well thanking him for fixing them up and getting them back in action. I had bunion surgery in 2005 with Dr Kobayashi and do not recommend him at all. I should have known when an office loses your x-rays the day before your surgery and the office says, "Don't worry we'll take them again the day of the surgery." That's the sign of a bad omen. He removed the bunion on my left foot, but my toes are still crooked on that foot and my L- big toe is slightly raised not giving me the stability I need when walking. I had surgery with another doctor for my R-foot and it went beautifully. I do not recommend this doctor. read more

This podiatrist has not been able to help my foot injured back in Sept 2019 at Disneyland. I have had a boot, then a cast and am now in a makeshift foot brace and still having a lot of pain. I should mention my husband and now his brother love this doctor and say he is "brilliant" for treating their neuropathy with stem cells from discarded embillical cords. My husband stated to him about a month ago he wanted me to get stem cells to aid and speed up my recovery. Dr. Kobayashi has not given me stem cells and I have no idea why. No not go here! Dr. Kobayashi and Dr Travis are nice enough but they did absolutely nothing for my injury beside selling me $150 brace that I could have gotten for cvs for $30... that fell apart in 3 weeks! Then when I got the bill they had not charged my secondary insurance, I've called and left messages with their billing department and front desk 8 times over the past 6 months and have yet to receive a call back but I keep getting bills in the mail that I am welcome to pay online. He is an AMAZING surgeon! I'm very happy with my foot surgery. He told me I will do a good job for you! Trust me! And he really did it! No pain at all after surgery. ( I had a painful bunion for the last 16 years). He has all my trust. I spoke with another patient that had the same surgery as me and she said I didn't have pain at all, same as me! Be warned. If they tell you that your insurance has denied something but then offer to let you pay out of pocket... they may be scamming you. Read the denial letter your insurance sends you and make sure the diagnosis they list is the actual reason you need the treatment or orthotic. My child has a congenital deformity on his feet. The bones to not align correctly resulting in knee and hip pain. The first orthotic was covered by the insurance. The second was denied. When I read the denial letter the reason Dr. Kobayashi's office listed for the orthotic was "foot pain" and so it was denied. We are currently in the process of appealing the denial with added information we provided. The office doesn't seem to understand why we have a problem with how they have handled this whole mess. We're not sure if this error is due to ignorance on the part of office staff who is submitting the authorization request or a game they are playing to take in more money. You have been warned. read more

Horrible experience from start to finish. I spoke with the office PRIOR to setting the appointment and was assured that my financial responsibility was just the co pay as he was a participating provider. I waited in the worn down waiting room listening to the front desk staff talk about how one of their co workers was upset and cold to them ( really? How is this professional????) I waited 20 minutes in the exam room for kobayashi who never introduced himself -I had to ask -you are? Clinical, cold, no personality JUST NOT SOMEONE WHO LISTENS. Where do I start? The office staff is nice; the doctors are nice. Unfortunately, we had to switch from Dr Travis to Dr Kobayashi bc Dr Travis no longer took our insurance. Fine. Great. It seemed like a smooth transition. Now, we are technically new patients with a new insurance. The hubs made his appt with Dr K and was fitted for custom orthotics just like last year and the year before. The two prior years, the staff submitted for pre-approvals, and everything was covered 100% (under Insurance 1). For whatever reason, they decided not to this year even though we are technically new patients and with a different insurance (insurance 2) and THEY KNEW THIS. Yes, THEY KNEW and they failed to let us know that they did not run it first. Now, we have a bill for over $500 from their office bc the insurance only covers orthotics for people with two medical conditions that my husband does not have. I've been to this doctor three times in the past month regarding achilles tendonitis. My ankle is no better for it. The first time was a reasonably good appointment. Every time after, he saw me for about 5 minutes, was extremely rushed, and acted like I was an inconvenience when I asked questions. On my fourth visit here I waited nearly one hour to be seen by Dr. Kobayashi without being informed he was running behind. The doctor is pleasant with better bedside manner than most podiatrists. However, his assistant performed the laser treatment, not the doctor. I question whether an "assistant" can even legally use the laser. I've had my toenail fungus lasered ten times now and by doctors only. The assistant only spent a little over a minute on the area and did not use an experienced technique like the other doctors in the past. I'm in the medical field and don't appreciate less than adequate service. Especially after driving 100 miles to the appointment. read more

Dr. Kobayashi had an associate in his office last April and I asked him to not cut my toe too much. He did it anyway and I have had an unhealable toe ever since and have had to go to the Hoag wound clinic. I have had to wear a full foot cast for 12 weeks. I got out of the cast 2 months ago and am still injured by his office's work. The wait is usually a 1/2 hours plus. Don't waste your time or money here. You'll regret it. read more

Had bunion pain and went to see Dr. Kobayashi. Although my bunion wasn't overly large at all, he said the only way to get rid of the pain is to have surgery so think about it and let me know what you want to do. I decided on surgery and am glad I did. There was zero pain following the surgery and I was back to work after a few weeks. The screw head is close to the surface of my foot and he offered to go in and remove it, but I opted to keep it. He even joked that I could have a tattoo of a caterpillar over the scar and no one would know it was there. The surgery was almost 3 years ago and the scar is barely noticeable without the tattoo. If I ever have any foot pain, I would definitely go back and would recommend him in a heartbeat. read more

It's unfortunate that I have to write such a poor review for Dr. Kobayashi because he is a very likable person (so that's what the 1 star is for). I chose him for a bunionectomy that I had done last year. He explained in detail how the surgery would go and made it sound like it was a simple procedure that is done often. The first problem I had was that the permanent screw/pin they put in the toe started pushing out toward the top of my toe and I had to have another surgery to have it removed. Plus, I have had constant pain for over 1 1/2 years since I had the original surgery done. He kept saying he couldn't figure out why I was having pain & thought I was walking on my foot in an odd way. I went for a second opinion and it appears that the nerve on the second toe was severed during the bunionectomy which created nerve damage and to top it off the bunion is back because the pin is not there to hold the toe in place. All in all, having this procedure done by Dr. Kobayashi was the worst decision I could have made. Please, if you're thinking of having this done, think twice if you can live with a bunion and definitely don't use this doctor. read more

A lot of people are leaving good comments, but I would give no stars if I could. I came in with a damaged toe nail from work, and the first visit he trimmed it back a bit. When I went in on the second visit the nail was about cut back where it should be and he reassessed the damage. He did not give me any options or say what he thought should be done, but he just takes his clippers and cuts the nail to see how far down he could go until hitting attached nail. If that is the solution he should have informed me of what needed to be done, but he just started clipping my nail until about 60-70% of my big toe nail was gone. I put a lot of weight on my feet and do a lot of lifting, so the nail has never been the same. I probably would have rather left the nail and keep it clean and use antifungals instead of growing out a new nail putting a lot of weight and stress on my feet. He did not give me any choice or tell me what he was doing, he took the clippers and cut away 60-70% of my nail. read more
