I just had a different "experience" here. Put a 20% deposit on a gun. Later that day, I came to find out a friend had one. I test fired it. Same type gun I put a deposit on that day. West had it in his back room for ONE night. I came back to get my deposit back as I did not like the way the gun handled that I test fired. Came in for my deposit of $100, this morning. They told me they keep it as a RE-Stocking fee ! ! Pointed it out on the BOTTOM of the receipt to me. Had I known that is their POLICY B 4 this ? I would never have considered doing the purchase. Lose $100 in one day as I changed my mind. I WAS going to get a different weapon for MORE money instead. But, no, Kevin just figured he'd be happy keeping my $100. So, Kevin West and his "policy" as he pointed out have cost him thousands in future business. And I will steer ALL my "comrades in arms" away from West. Sad part ? I have bought there B 4. "Great" for them way to treat an old customer. If you value your wallet ? Stay away from "veteran owned" west. read more

It has taken me a while to find a great shooting place with also really strong instructors. Got to spend a few hours with Jason and he was top notch and helped me a lot. Their service is outstanding, the range is clean and work setup. I also like that the targets turn. Certainly great for practice. I recently wrote a google review and then saw that West Armory did not have similar (great) reviews on Yelp like the ones on google. Reviews were either "5 stars, awesome gunstore in Dade City" or "terrible & rude, kicked me out cause my 'gun was to loud' " ... I've shot everything from .9mm to .556 to .300 blk on the range with no issues from anyone other than other customers. If you were kicked out, it's probably bc you were not following the best safety protocols, like keeping guns down range at all times. Most these reviews are outdated anyways. I have never had a single bad experience at West Armory. This is my google review: "I have been coming to West Armory for a year now and it's the place I buy 95% of my guns, parts and ammo. They have everything you can want or need and if they don't, they will happily help you find & acquire what you are looking for. Very respectful and helpful staff. Me and my cousins took there conceal and carry class with instructor Jason. Jason's made the class interesting and his knowledge was vast. Their was a very nice mix of people in the class and all were involved during the class. The law and information was current and Jason also referenced great current events. This business was clean and very organized. All of the staff was personable and very helpful. We are making plans to go back for one on one training. I would recommend this business. read more

I used to enjoy going up to West Armory. My only complaint is with one employee, Kyle. He's a wet-behind-the-ears, know-it-all kid who can't accept that some of his customers might well know more than he does about some things. He's arrogant and rude and acts as if he's trying to impress with his vast, untouchable repository of knowledge. He'll cut you off in mid sentence as if he's in a rush. You never get a second chance to make a first impression!! I was there a few days ago, and witnessed a female employee go off ripping into a male employee for no reason at the front of the store in the presence of many customers. I know everyone has a bad day here and there but this was totally unprofessional and unacceptable!!!! At this point I'm not sure I wanna go back or refer them to anyone. However, I believe that everyone deserves a second chance. For now I will chalk it up as an isolated incident, and hope it does not happen again during my next visit. I'm very Leary of recommending places of business to anyone right away because of stuff like this. read more

I visted West Armory and was politely surprised by what I encountered. The gun store and range is convenientely located at 301 and lock street across from the Dade City Business Park. (further west Lock St turn's into Blanton Road also known as County RD 41). West Armory's show room is pretty big featuring side arms, long guns, shooting apparel and supplies. A large great dane walked around the show room greeting customers. I visited West Armory to ahoot at thier range which had maybe 10 stalls. Each stall had LED lighting that allowed you to illuminate the stall, dim the light or turn it off to simulate night shooting. Ballistic paneling is in between each stall wall to protect each shooter. The stalls most impressive feature is a small touch screen that'll direct the target on what to do. The range master said this technology is only offered at two other gun ranges in Florida. The panel has three pages of program drills that'll instruct the target to speed away from you, turn to the right or left then straighten, flip it's back to you or charge toward you. So you could be shooting at the target which will look like this( ---- ) then the target could quickly turn ( || ) then flip back ( ----).The panel also allowed shooters to practice normally with no fancy settings enabled. The range master was nice and showed me the panel controls and didnt bother me too much he even cleaned up my shell casings after I was finished shooting. The only downside to this range was I had to sign three different waivers (one allowed them to surviel you) I was asked for my ID to shoot which I expected. However, I was then told I would pay after I was done shooting and therefore the staff would keep my ID until I finished despite the fact I brought my own ammo and weapon and the facility closed within an hour of my arrival. However, the staff discounted my fee because I only stayed about 40 minutes. (Range entry, one target and ear proetction with tax cost me $12 ). No holsters are allowed on the range. Shotguns arent permitted yet the range exceeded 35 yards. Maybe they're banned due to the fancy equipment powering the range targets. I'll most likely return to Weet Armory when in the area as everything inside was brand new and the staff was nice and their prices were descent . I'd like to try the simulation shooting device. It's a projector screen with an air cable that powers an affixed Glock or Baretta handgun (I cant remember which one) that'll simulate civilian self defense situations and law enforcement scenarios by playing prerecorded roleplaying videos. Where people on screen with various backdrops are acting by explaining things to you or doing certain tasks or yelling at you then they suddenly pull a knife or gun on you, they'll hide behind things, and you have to shoot them before they kill you but beware of innocent bystander's and people who intially appear to be a threat but arent. West Armory's website says its $30 for 30 minutes so basically a $1 a minute and $10 for an extra person. I think the fact they offer simulated law enforcement training is useful but the front desk staff didnt know what a "G license" was when I asked if they offered requalification classes or had any in house K instructors on staff. read more

Awesome place until after they take your money!!!! I loved this place because they have just about everything I was looking for and Dan the man got it installed one and done So I got kicked out on two separate occasion, but today was because of a couple of crybabies in lane #3 complaining it was too loud. Are you kidding me?!?! It's supposed to be loud!! it's a shooting range you snowflake!! What are you gonna do in the middle of a shootout without hearing protection because it's too loud genius? And yes "I HAVE BEEN caught in the middle of a real live" random shootout!! They not gonna stop shooting just for you. Sell your weapon and get a BB gun then shoot in the silence of your back yard!! As for Kevin one of the owner/operator's who had his employee ask me to leave. What are you gonna do when you rent a fully automatic machine gun to someone and others complain?!?! Talk about an oxymoronic statement of rules. That rental was actually next on my to do list. Once I get the last two items which I special ordered through them I'm done with west armory. I was gonna bring my son to get his first rifle there next time he was on leave. It was a short lived few months but my time here is done!! I spent about $3000 in about 6-8 weeks, but no more!! My boyfriend and I went in while waiting for my tires to be done across the street and he ended up buying me a .380 to carry. The owner helped us find something that I liked and would be comfortable with, as well as a band so that I could carry while out walking (or anywhere). The gun is beautiful, and the owner and his wife were both friendly and efficient! We will definitely buy from them again! P.S. the store looks awesome! Great gun store experience. I happened to go in when the Corona Virus COVID-19 virus was going around and NO gun store had ammo or guns except these guys. Tried all over Brooksville and Dade and nothing. I wound up buying a Glock43 for concealed carry and couldn't be happier with my purchase. Fair prices and they offer military and blue-label discounts. Will be trying out their range later today. Only $10 for a half hour session! Also wanted to shoutout a young gentleman named Lucas who was more than helpful, and truly answered all questions, and not try to sell me something like most salesman. read more

Had a good time looking around and shooting in the range. Very organized facility. I recommend people that want more info on guns as a beginner to advanced. Very nice facility. I attended a competition match that was hosted by the range. The gun shop had a huge selection of pistols, rifles and shotguns. They also had tons of ammo and accessories. There were several staff members so there were no long waits in line. The shooting range was state of the art and very well ventilated. Last, but not least, the restrooms were very clean. read more

Not sure how I missed this place over the past few years! Stopped in to see if they had a specific gun, and I wasn't surprised to find it wasn't avail. Yet they had quite a large selection considering the demand and managed find my next best option. One of the owners helped me with my purchase. He was very patient, despite the number of clients that approached him and I really appreciated is he didn't force opinions on you. The rest of the staff, although extremely busy was very nice too! Throughout the week I traveled to some other stores (incl Tampa) and quickly realized Dade City has a "gem." They had ammo when no one else had any or much of a selection. (Understandably, they are placing limits on # of boxes.) Wound up bringing a friend in who also ended up making a gun and ammo purchase. Haven't visited their range yet. Overall great experience in the store itself. Since all this Covid, finding this place so close to home has been a bright spot in my 2020! read more
