I cannot say enough good things about Dan and his company. About five years ago, he installed a patio cover for me, and everything was great--until about a year ago when I noticed leaking underneath it. Naturally, I was concerned and reached out to him. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He came out right away, took the time to thoroughly inspect everything, and explained in detail why he believed the patio cover itself was not the issue.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He checked the slope, sealed areas to rule out seepage, and made sure nothing was being overlooked. A couple of months later, after speaking with several stucco contractors, I was told repeatedly that the patio cover had to be the problem. Feeling confused and overwhelmed, I reached back out to Dan and shared what others were saying. He installed additional downspouts and full-length counter flashing, which required removing stucco, just to ensure that water could not possibly be getting in from the patio cover. During the process, once everything was opened up, he was able to clearly show me that the real issue was faulty second-story windows--not the patio cover. He had been right all along. But what stood out the most was his attitude throughout the entire experience. Not once did he make me feel bad for questioning it or listening to other contractors. He remained patient, professional, and genuinely kind the entire time, even when it would have been easy to say "I told you so." At that point, I was feeling extremely overwhelmed between conflicting opinions and high quotes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dan didn't stop at proving the issue--he continued to help. Working with West Coast Awnings to have our aluminum patio cover installed was one of the smoothest and easiest experiences I've ever had. Our backyard gets full sun during the hot summer months with no shade, so getting a patio cover installed by June was definitely a top priority of mine. I was able to easily schedule an appointment with Dan to come out to take a look at our backyard space, and he explained the whole process well and recommended a patio cover that would work best for our yard. A huge benefit to working with West Coast Awnings was that they were able to help me with the entire process of submitting a permit application to the city for the patio cover. This helped alleviate a lot of stress and pressure for me, since I have zero idea how that process works. Ina was very helpful and communicative during the entire time. It was easy to schedule an installation date with her, and she even helped schedule an appointment for the city's final inspection after the installation was completed. It's hard to put into words how grateful we are with Dan and his team at West Coast Awnings. We first reached out at the beginning of September 2024 and Dan was able to stop by the same week to check out our job. We had reached out to a more commercial company in August but their lead times were much longer and we were in a hurry to collect some rough prices and ideas. We were going back and forth with owner builder (DIY Kit) but we were having a hard time finding a company to do a hybrid flat/gable with MINIMAL posts. Dan arrived day 1, on time, presentable and professional. 0 salesman type of pressure and we were just having a conversation about wants/visions/dreams. As you can see with the before pictures, we had a rough looking area and we were hoping to maximize the space. Dan took our ideas, made a rough sketch and said he would get back to me next day with a quote. I wanted a quote with insulated (totally worth it) and non-insulated panels. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He got back to me later the same day with 2 quotes along with breakdowns of add-ons (lights, speakers, fans, etc).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a rough price in mind that I was expecting to pay (judging from FLAT DIY kit quotes). The price was a little higher than I was expecting at first but this setup is more involved and needed footings etc. I can assure you that the price was/is extremely fair for the value and quality you are receiving. I did not get a quote from another local company but I would bet money they wouldn't do it for cheaper. In my opinion, this is a project that you should build while considering the future 3,5,7,10 years down the road. You will want to add more outlets, lights, go bigger, etc now because it will be a nightmare to do it later. This also increased our cost but it was well worth it. You have some time from initial planning to build day to add more things so really think about that. The speakers are awesome and down the road you can upgrade them or whatever since the wiring is already in place. Same with the lights etc. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had concrete scheduled for 10/31. Unfortunately, the soonest Dan could squeeze me in was 11/1. Not his fault at all because he was waiting on me to have the concrete/yard graded etc.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Weather was a factor. Concrete was pushed to 11/4 no problem and Dan and his crew showed up on time 11/1 and set posts and were done in an hour. We had patio build day scheduled for 11/22, 11/25, 11/26. 11/21 came with a storm and [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dan reached out saying we had to postpone to Monday (11/25). Not his fault whatsoever.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 11/25 came and Dan and the crew showed up with rain on and off and started working. I was very impressed with their work ethic, happy attitude, and professionalism. I have some DIY capabilities and definitely wanted to take this project on myself after watching a ton of videos and doing research. I'm extremely happy I hired it out. It took 3 full days with 4 people working to get this done and they know what they're doing. They were drilling, screwing, sealing, running wires, cutting, etc all day. I was blown away with how much work it was. It would have taken me six 3 day weekends working all day to get this done. They finished the day before Thanksgiving and we were able to have a nice small family Thanksgiving on our new patio space. 1 week later we hosted a birthday party for our 4yr old and everyone was blown away at how nice the patio cover was, amazed with the speakers, and loved the hybrid design. We have been thinking about this project since we bought the house 2 years ago. We 100% regret not doing this sooner but we are definitely glad we found Dan and West Coast Awnings. I refer them to everyone I know. We cannot wait for the spring/summer when we get to utilize the space even more! ** I spent weeks scrolling companies on Yelp and the internet looking at pictures of patio covers. Dan and his ROCKSTAR team (Alec and Max) are just...WOW!!! From the beginning consultation with Dan, we felt he is very honest, straightforward, knowledgeable, courteous, professional, responsive, personable, and so much more. We knew right away he's our guy! We didn't even bother waiting for other companies to submit their bids. Max delivered the materials needed on Wednesday, installation began on Thursday and completed on Friday. We are now still in awe of this beautiful beast of a pergola standing in our backyard. The workmanship is quite extraordinary and the aluminum used is of excellent quality. We love the clean, modern look and the fuss-free maintenance. Nothing more than a good hose down every now and then. For what we got, the cost is well worth it as we see many years of enjoyment under our pergola.
