We loved the aguas frescas, tamalada de mole, and tacos--carnitas, pato al pastor, and chicharrón de pescado (two tacos per order). Everything was flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. Please note, the tacos come two for $14. Our best bite was the tamalada de mole (pictured). Service was excellent--attentive, patient, and knowledgeable with great recommendations. The space is a larger, upscale, minimalist modern Mexican setting compared to the original downtown spot. We were too full for dessert, but based on past visits, I highly recommend the esquites and brussels sprouts. We'll definitely be back to try more botanas and explore the menu further on our next visit to El Paso--we were just too full for dessert this time.

The restaurant offers a cozy contemporary feel with a minimalist modern touch. The white oak and high ceiling also contributes to a warm and relaxing atmosphere. Right from the start, I loved the presentation of the Pepino--refreshing, creative, and unlike anything I've seen elsewhere. The Aguachile Callo de Hacha was outstanding, easily one of the highlights of the evening. If you're visiting for the first time, I highly recommend ordering the following tacos - Campesino ($7) and the Pato al Pastor ($8); both are packed with original flavors and showcase the chef's creativity. Their Jamaica drink is also excellent and pairs beautifully with the food. Chef Emiliano Marentes has deservedly earned national recognition and James Beard acclaim, which naturally creates high expectations before you even walk through the door. So that is always creating an issue as many of us expect perfection. The restaurant was moderately busy, with some people waiting to be seated. The biggest disappointment, however, was the pace. We waited approximately 25 minutes for our food despite the restaurant not appearing especially full. Then came the most unexpected wait of the evening--the restroom. Standing in line for more than 15 minutes just to use the bathroom is something I've never experienced at a restaurant. That took away from what had started as a very enjoyable evening. Service was efficient without any fluff. Overall this is a solid 4.0/5.0.

So I stood at the counter for a while, probably 10 minutes just waiting for someone- she was around the corner at the bar and honestly neither of us saw each other. I just figured you ordered near the cash register so I didn't go looking for anyone. Once she came around the side she apologized for hot seeing me and took my orders. I was hoping they had a big platter of tacos as that's what we wanted to try, but instead I only found meals. I ordered the quesabirria tacos (4 birria tacos with cheese, 2 sides) and the arrachera tacos (4 grilled steak tacos, 2 sides). For the sides I ordered two fries, once loaded potato and beans. The fries were home fried, they were pretty plain but I could see why people would like them. The potato was stuffed with butter, cheese and bacon and the beans were really good. Not super flavorful beans but they did have a good flavor and they were fresh tasting, not old like you get at some places around here. Now the tacos, the quesabirria ones would have been sooo good, would have been but the sauce was crazy salty. Like leave your mouth sore from the salt, salty. I would he embarrassed to serve that to people honestly, much less charge for them. The flavor was good, the meat was tender the tortillas had the perfect thickness and the cheese pull was awesome. If it wasn't for how salty they were I may have thrown in the 5th star. The arrachera tacos were cooked perfectly; the steak was flavorful and tender. Some places make their steak very dry but these were very good. The two salsas that were served which each taco meals were very good. The dark red one burned the crap out of my lips, my husband absolutely loved it. The other salsa (chunkier) was very flavorful and maybe one of the best salsas at a taco place in El Paso. The tortillas here are so good and the meat is cooked well, I just wish they'd taste their food and learn not to over salt their birria. While the service was a bit slow because of missing each other, the service was still very good. The woman helping was super sweet and very helpful. The restaurant is clean and decorated okay. Nothing special but welcoming. I would recommend the tacos just be careful with the birria. I could eat 1.5 tacos before the salt was just too much. Luckily I have teen boys who each everything.

I kid you not there was 2 beans in there. The rest was chicharrón n Winnies. The flavor was good but I ordered charro beans not chicharrón consume. There's no salsa bar. That was the biggest miss. They brought me a container of cilantro n onion enough for 2 tacos n same w a side of watered down avocado sauce. The 2 salsas that were brought w the chips were not hot or flavorful and are the o ly options. Even the divest restaurants hv more salsas n toppings than that. And really small portions n nothing to see here. Keep driving by.

I ordered the luncheon flautas. Standard stuff, beef, flautas, beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream. It took a very long time to get my order when I got it. There was four tacos that had barely any meat in them, but the tortilla was cooked perfect. The beans were a soupy mess all over my plate. It was not Spanish rice. It was the type that's cooked with sazon & chicken broth. No guacamole. And the sour cream look like bubbly milk soup !! i asked the waitress and she didn't speak any English at least all of a sudden she didn't. I showed her the picture of the lunch special and she tells me in Spanish that they don't have guacamole, but she will bring me an avocado. So here I am with this avocado, making my own guacamole to go with my flautas. I got some pico de gallo and some salsa from their Salsa bar to complete the task. But like I said, the food tasted good even my homemade guacamole. But not those those soupy refried beans. Well, they got to me they were just OK and the rice was just OK. The taquitos were tasty with the guacamole I made. But like I said, it was just a weird experience.
