It's pretty much a dump. The owners are always there and they're always drinking and they have no respect for their guests. The food doesn't taste that good when the owner is cooking. The chef that I prefer is a pretty good job so I'll eat there when he's there but I would never eat there when the underest cooking. Not to mention the wife is the boss so don't even bother asking the husband anything because she runs the show. It has definitely gone downhill from previous years when we used to go quite frequently but probably will never return again. Also some of the waitresses that work there are rude and disrespectful and white go there when you can get good service somewhere else?! read more

Amazing food and staff!!! People say they have the best burgers in town and that is so true! We had wings, burger and a breakfast sandwich. All were perfect!! The burger tasted like it just came off of the grill outdoors, the breakfast sandwich had a perfect egg on it and the wings are like no others we have had anywhere else! We are addicted! read more

Manager was sassy and was ignorant. Old ladies bar, with nothing but older men and women going there. So if you're an older person with nothing to do, maybe this is the bar to have-- many Karen's there as well. Went there and a man was recording me (visibly). Waitress was fine. Dave and Chelsea ruin the place. Used to be a fun bar but will not return because of those two. They are in there 24/7 and when they're not working they're drunk out of their minds causing problems with people in the corner of the bar. We won't be back. A man whom I can only assume is the manager did his level best to make us feel un welcome because we have a service dog. When another patron wanted to meeting our dog he came running over and told us our dog can not interact with any other patrons.​ read more

This place is a hoot! My friend and I always go here when we want a low key place to get burgers and beers! Great atmosphere and variety of people. The pool table is fun and often open during the day. The variety of food is limited but well worth it. read more

Once a great establishment that is now way past its prime. Long gone is the sand pit. It is now a pretty dirty and low rent bar. Every ceiling tile in the place is filthy and the entire place needs to be painted. I guess the owner can't afford to pay anyone else so a small kitchen area was put up front in what was once one of Lawrence's best bars. Smoke and soot fill the air and further stain the ceiling. The burgers are good, which is the only reason this bar got a 2 star rating instead of a 1. Bottom line is that this is one of the main bars I frequented when I was a KU student back in the 80''s. It makes me heartsick to see how the original West Coast Saloon has been run into the ground. read more

Big Fan of this bar! All the bar games (pool, darts, silver strike, shuffle board) you need to distract yourself from how drunk you are actually getting. Good bar food but then again a lot of food is good to me when I have had a few. If you are looking for a laid back with friends, I highly recommend this place. read more

I was told this was the "best burger in town." I had to think "...better than Burger Stand!? ...better than Johnny's 'J. Wilson burger?!' ... better than The Wheel's nationally famous 'Kappa Burger?!'" I had to try what they considered the '"most ordered." The Western burger, with local BBQ celebrity, Chris Lemon's, special sauce, has me writing this review. It was excellent! Put this bar/restaurant into your wheelhouse - simple decor, pool possible, and always good ol' boy company to spin yarns (and truths) about local events. read more

Bobby, bartender/owner is a scummy guy, very bad and a liar. Will not serve a pizza before 5:00pm, even if the place is slow. Just a stubborn old man that needs to retire. He is telling customers that his draft beers are 16 ounces, but they are really 12 ounces. This in very illegal! Should be fined. His prices are at least 25% higher than a typical college town bar and grill. I have never ever given a bad report in my life. This place really should be shut down. read more

I've been told for years by several Lawrence locals that West Coast Saloon has the best burgers in town. It's definitely the best burger that I've had in five years of living in Lawrence. West Coast isn't aiming for gourmet burgers like Burger Stand or Pachamammas and instead delivers a great tasting burger. read more

The cook didn't have gloves on, he proceeded to wipe his nose, lick his finger and then to top it off he blew his nose, all while handling our food. Not once did he wash or put gloves on. Can you say GROSS! read more

The burger is great but not quite as good as the Burger Stand or Pachamammas. However for the price it is an excellent value. The drink specials are good and the draft beer is ice cold. The bar is divey but i like that. read more
