We had dinner this Sunday afternoon/evening. The space is nice looking. We were greeted immediately. No reservation, 8 of us. We didn't have any problem. It was the earlier side of dinner hour. Things picked up as our evening progressed. Joe our server was excellent! His vibe was very cool. Our party arrived scattered & he was patient & respectful to the fact that we weren't in a rush & wanted to enjoy our time together. So grateful to him. The food was good. I ordered a Cowboy Ribeye. This was not a Cowboy Ribeye. The was thin and it did have a bone in but thickness wasn't even close. Very bland no flavor with some sort of red sauce came out with it on the plate which tasted like A-1 sauce and ketchup mixed toy. Horrible flavor. They put the steak in the broiler, to be honest it looked like it was microwaved. Zero char. They took it back and put grilled marks in it and it still didn't come out right. I even asked out waiter if I could go back and cook my own steak. Then they tried to fix it with bringing me out another Ribeye and not the same Cowboy Cut . Grilled it also . With marks and not even a decent crust . They say they cut their own meet . Maybe at the grocery store . HUGE disappointment. Maybe just turn it into a bar with drinks and appetizers. My Aunt and I wanted to try out brunch in Lawrence Saturday morning. A coworker of mine had suggested 6 Mile Chop House. We arrived around 11 to the restaurant and greeted quickly by a Hostess. The restaurant was not very busy yet, and the restaurant it self had a nice intimate vibe to it. The bar area had tv's which had sports playing. We were seated past the bar in another dining area. Our server Dowdy greeted us promptly and took our drink order-we both had coffee, it was a bit chilly in the restaurant-downfall is they only had half and half, no flavored creamer but we got by! The brunch menu had several good options-we both decided on the steak and eggs which was a delicious choice. We also shared a blueberry pancake which was huge! There has been a major change in this restaurant's hours, which strangely are not yet reflected on the restaurant's website. On weekdays, the restaurant is no longer open for lunch. It opens at 4 pm, but the restaurant's website still says 11 am. I do not understand why it has taken so long for the restaurant to update its website. There also have been changes to the menu. The new menu includes Branzino (European Sea Bass). It is an interesting choice, but arrives frozen. I prefer the salmon, which arrives fresh. I similarly would prefer trout to the Branzino, since trout would be available fresh in Lawrence. They have a choice of a few different nonalcoholic beers. I appreciate that. The nonalcoholic beer market has grown dramatically, even in Germany. I find it to be puzzling that some restaurants in Lawrence still don't have any. read more

Decent variety of menu items to choose from. I did like our waiter, he was both friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Salmon BLT which was good although I highly recommend using a different type of bread for this. Nothing more annoying than a somewhat soggy sandwich. Could use some more seasoning on the fish. I added brussels sprouts as my side. I love brussels sprouts however, theirs are subpar. They use a bacon-like crumble which tastes exactly like bacon bits from a can. My friend had their Beerhall Burger which she really enjoyed and it looked yummy. We went here for Friday night Happy Hour. We sat at the bar and were waited on by Adrian and Sarah, we received excellent service. I asked for a vodka drink and Adrian made a tasty cocktail with vodka, blackberry, and basil after that I had a Rosemary Spritz. It was super delicious with homemade rosemary infused vodka and simple syrup. You should definitely give it a try!! We tried a couple of the appetizers, they were flavorful and the portions were generous. There is plenty of seating in the main room for dining, at the bar or in the lounging area. The service was attentive...until it wasn't. She would just disappear. The food was okay. Steaks were fine but nothing special. Mashed potatoes were cold. I've ordered the same chips and cheese here for years and never paid more than $3.50 -$5.00 for plain chips and melted shredded cheese. Tonight, the bartender you always have to watch your tab with (aka, you order a single and she'll pour you and charge you for a double / order 4 beers and your tab will show 6 etc.) charged me $16 for plain chips and shredded cheese...charged me for full nachos (meat, all toppings, etc) and refused to change it. Go anywhere BUT HERE! You'll order a water and end up with a $20 glass of ice. There's 2 things in life you don't mess with and that's my dogs and my money. I gave 2 options: (1) I pay it and never come back. (2) They charge me to what I normally pay and I just never order it again. They opted to charge the full price. Saturday Brunch Review only!! My daughter and I enjoyed this brunch experience. We both had coffee, (Do not expect many options for your coffee) and shared a giant cinnamon roll and chorizo breakfast burrito with hashbrowns. ( This came with two hash browns. The hashbrowns were prepared, wonderfully for my taste ) The food was way above average and exceptional for a steakhouse that only does brunch two days a week. The host in white staff were very friendly and accommodating. The outside of the building is nothing special, but the inside is decorated very nicely as you would expect for a steakhouse. In the words of Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe... my mother told me to pick the very best [place to eat when we were in Lawrence today] and this was NOT it. Bleh. When she finally came back to order, I had a question about fries coming with the Pick 2 special and she said that's not available on weekends and went on to say they had new menus made but didn't put that detail on the menu, blah blah. Ok, well luckily we'd had plenty of time to talk about all the options, so I went ahead to order a Roast Beef Dip that we'd share with fries. I ordered a Six Mile side salad with ranch and Mom got a cup of Creamy Chicken Rice Soup. After quite a bit of time passed (mind you there are maybe 4 or 5 tables occupied) the food came out but no fries. Mom tasted her gloppy looking soup and was sad that it was maybe Campbells. at best. The server had disappeared so finally we got her attention and explained we didn't get fries. She said she gave us the soup as the side. That's not what we intended. We told her the soup was bad anyway so do the fries and take soup away. My salad was okay. It was supposed to come with grape tomatoes, but actually seemed to come with one grape tomato that had been cut into tiny slivers... either that or they cut the bad spots off of a few grape tomatoes. The ranch was runny but very tasty. The sandwich was sad -- possibly partially microwaved. The meat was not warm all the way through. There was much more soggy bread than meat. The au jus tasted like a hospital -- not like you were eating at a hospital, but more like you were licking an actual hospital. The fries were fantastic. Honestly, they were wonderful. This was our first time at Chop House and it was pretty good. For our appetizer we ordered fried calamari which was some of the best I've had. I got a salad with southwest ranch that was pretty tasty as well. The main course however we all got fillets and this is where I felt the food could have been better, especially given the price. I felt like my fillet was a bit burnt on the outside but it was still ok. The fillets overall were a little chewier than I was expecting. And the service was pretty slow, we were there on a Thursday and it took our food at least an hour to come out. Our server was great, and recommended the Gouda mashed potatoes but loaded style. Overall, I'd go back to this place but would likely not get another fillet. read more

This was the worst restaurant I have ever been to, excluding the one in Memphis when a rat ran across the floor so we left without ordering. At Six Mile Chophouse, I waited 45 minutes for a hamburger. When it arrived, it was raw. The waitress never checked on me. I was too embarrassed to go directly to the cook and ask him to cook it more. After my meal, I went to the manager and told him what happened. He did not apologize or offer any recompense, rather, he told me that the waitress was busy with "customers." I thought I was a customer. read more

We were having a cousins gathering and 6 Mile Chophouse is where 1 cousin wanted to go. My cousin made reservations for 8 a couple of weeks ago. When we got to the restaurant they put us in 2 tables of 4 across the room from one another. There were big tables in the middle of us with eight or more. 3 of the 4 of us at our table ordered alcoholic drinks. Took about 15 minutes to get them and the waiter spilled half of my wife's drink on me and my wife. He apologized. We sai dno problem and went in with the night. He said he would make it right on the bill. While we were waiting on the waiter to come take our order the drinks emptied themselves. Hahaha The waiter finally came by and asked if anyone needed anything and of course more drinks were ordered. 10 minutes later the drinks arrived. The waiter said he would be right back to take our order. 3 of us ordered steaks 1 ordered salmon. Every entree the waiter asked how we wanted it cooked. Only 1 of the 3 was close to being cooked right. The salmon was terribly dry. One of the steaks my cousin ordered medium because he does like like blood running everywhere. It was almost rare. Needless to say he didn't eat much of it. This can go on and on. So, let's wrap up. You would think a business named Chophouse 2ould know how to cook a steak. The waiter neede a lot of training. His attitude was not bad just not training. I forgot to preface my wife and family owned a restaurant for several years and customer service was on point. The drink that was spilled was not taken care of and everything took so long that we had another place to be and no time to complain and see if they could make things right. Had a very good Father's Day Brunch at 6 Mile. We were seated around 11, right at our reservation time. At first I wondered why we had a reservation at all as the place wasn't even a quarter full, but it filled up quickly. There was a wait when we left. So, very glad we had it. Service was good but not great. I understand as brunch is a busy time for them apparently. Also, we weren't in a hurry, so it wasn't a big deal for us to sit and talk longer. But, it did take a bit to get refills and the check, so if we had plans after brunch it would have been more annoying. I went with the ham steak, eggs, and 3 small pancakes. All were very good. Too many places overcook eggs but these scrambled were very good. The ham steak was not dry but had some nice coloring due to the frying pan. The pancakes were fluffy and not dry either, all were well executed. The table also shared the enormous cinammon roll with blueberries and strawberries. When it arrived we thought it was just comically large and wouldn't be any good. We were wrong. We ate the whole thing. They get flavor throughout the entire roll, plus the edges were not dry. Another well executed dish. We come to Lawrence once a year to visit family. When we come back in 2023 Six Mile will be added to our list of places to check out again. read more

The waitress was sweet but probably had too many tables because she failed to refill water glasses, took a long time to remove empty dishes, forgot a wine order, didn't bring out bread as part of the ordered meal. Daughter's golden beets were hard and barely cooked. Finally - the $48 steak came out from the kitchen to our table and was cold. Manager came out to ask "how to make it right".... but it took so long to get our food, that I just sent the steak back and asked to delete from charge...(wife shared her plate with me). Waitress did notice that we had a birthday and offered a free desert, which was nice. This was our first time here as we normally go the the several of nice on Mass Street. read more

Coming from a fast paced world in Chicagoland, this was a nice paced experience. The service was very good, but cannot say the same for the Calamari, which was so tiny and rubbery. But we move on, the wings were amazing, as was the KC Strip / Filet / & Cobb Salads ordered in our group. Would recommend overall, definitely avoid the Calamari though. read more
