I got there early and they took me in early, they were flexible about the services I could have (I thought I was only in for an exam, but they had me down for a cleaning, which I had initially declined but then I changed my mind, and they just rolled with it either way), and they stayed focused on the business of dentistry. I am leaving this practice…read more FWIW, I did receive good care in a practice with good dentists and reasonably state-of-the art technology. They've had turnover in dentists but they've all been above average to good, some with more experience than others. HOWEVER, it's been at great cost. I've gotten inaccurate cost estimates (SOW jotted on the back of a business card??) and their insurance department doesn't like to process anything that isn't Delta Dental. It's cost me thousands in extra payments.

Each room is set up like a pretty standard dental office, very clean. On my first visit, they told me they like to do a full set of x-rays just to get an idea of what my teeth are like overall, but my insurance didn't cover for a full set. So they told me they will still do the full x-ray set, but just write it as whatever my insurance will cover, and they will cover the remaining cost. How great is that?!? The staff is wonderful and courteous, also very punctual. I'm never waiting in the waiting room for more than 5 minutes. The cleanings are done nice and quickly, I'm in and out in less than an hour. Dr. Vaandehaar is great! He always makes suggestions for me to consider, but is never pushy about getting anything done that isn't absolutely necessary. For example, when I had a cavity, he obviously strongly recommended that I take care of it asap. But when it came to some preventative things, he told me what was going on, and what some options are and said it's something to think about. The only complaint that I have is, they do send A LOT of appointment reminders via email and text, multiple times leading up to your appointment. Yes, you can totally opt out of it, so I guess this is really on me. Also, TDC is the only place that staff actually came in and sang happy birthday to me during my cleaning. It was so sweet! By far the best dental office I've been to. Highly recommended. (And I'm not just saying that because of the singing)

But this review is going to be positive. I have been looking for a good dentist FOREVER! I am scared of dentists, I have problematic teeth which need a lot of work, and the bad experiences in my childhood left some deep scarring in my mind. My fears are not even about the pain, but more about the carelessness of a dentist. I switched a lot, I compared a lot. Bottom line - Dr. Tepe is not only a good dentist from a technical perspective (did a great job on my crown and fillings), but also a great consultant. He listens to you, he talks to you. I have a lot of questions, and unlike some other docs Dr. Tepe had the patience to listen to the end, he NEVER made me feel like my questions are irrelevant or stupid. When I asked about materials used for crown/fillings, he noticed that it was important to me, and explained to me all of the options. Don't get me wrong - he is very efficient and does not carry on endless conversations, but he manages to show that he cares while being straight to the point. I really liked that. During the procedures Dr. Tepe always made me feel comfortable, talking to me, frequently asking me if everything is alright, and explaining what was going on. Maybe I am too needy, but I really appreciate that kind of attention. There are many good dentists in Madison area, they are all technically well schooled and trained and could take on such complicated projects like me. BUT only a few are socially capable of establishing a personal connection of trust with their patients. Dr. Tepe's staff is great as well! Dr. Tepe found himself a new loyal customer! Definitely recommend!
