I want to state I have really bad anxiety with going to the dentist. I felt at home at this dentist office. The staff were really understanding with what I could and could not afford. The care was amazing and could have asked for a better dental hygienist. She was very gentle, nice, and over all down to earth person. I did not get her name. The doctor was very professional and caring. I'm happy I have found a good dentist. I love the lay out of the office. Keep up the great work. read more

Poor dentistry- Dr Dendinger was fast and not careful. My lower tooth guard was not scanned properly and fit far too tightly; consequently, my teeth shifted and several broke. I saw Dr Porter who repaired a chipped tooth but the bite was not satisfactory so 2 days later the upper tooth broke. I have since changed dentist. read more

Dr. Porter and Neil are a great dentist/hygienist duo. The dental office is clean, modern with wood beams/ceiling that is a neat look for a dentist office. I haven't had any issues here in the last 5 years and plan on coming here for more years to come. read more

Dr. Mark Gustavson, Dr. Maggie Budde, Dr. Brian Porter and the entire team have taken care of my family for several years now. We've seen them for preventative care, restorative care as well as some cosmetic care. We couldn't be more pleased with how we are treated, the outcome of each treatment as well as the countless smiles doled out at each visit that come at no cost. The fact they accept Delta Dental PPO is fantastic since our insurance recently switched. We would have had to pay more out of pocket had we stayed with our former dentist. My hygienist admitted that she hadn't read my chart, so she wasn't aware that I had a history of oral cancer. She didn't think this was a good enough reason to limit the amount of radiation (x-ray) I receive. She didn't think the cancer was a big deal because it was "so long ago", thereby demonstrating a lack of knowledge about cancer and radiation accumulation. The doctor did a cursory exam, at best. I doubt she had rad my chart, too. She barely looked at the area where the cancer had been. She recommended a major dental procedure on the basis of the cursory exam. When walking me out, the hygienist couldn't resist pointing out that now I'll have to have those x-rays I wished to delay to reduce my overall radiation exposure. It was breathtakingly unprofessional of her. I was not surprised to find such a low rating for this office on this site. read more

I have been going to Affiliated Dentist for a few years. I started going to Affiliated after my last dentist kept pushing some $400 'dental assessment plan' every time I came in and I saw a different hygienist every time. I had started dreading going to the dentist, and I don't have any dental issues or phobias. Affiliated dentist is a no guilt place with no pushy tactics. They are straight forward and professional. If you are looking for a place where you can get a through cleaning and things are only suggested or address if they are necessary, this is the place to go. My hygienist Neil is great! Another plus, I drop off my car at Car-X down the road, walk to my dentist appointment and walk back to Car-X and my oil change is usually done by the time I get back. Affiliated Dentists was referred to me by a coworker when I expressed concern over not finding a dentist after mine retired. Going to AD is always a pleasant experience whether at the East or West Side locations. My hygienist, Julie, is so easy to talk to about any concerns I may have and is always a delight to see. I even look forward to my dental cleanings---don't think I can say more than that! Dr. Gustavson is also easy to talk to and he is ever conscious about patient comfort. In the event of more expensive dental work, he is also conscious about my budget. I am impressed by his knowledge and his skill...his crowns are the BEST! He also knows when to refer an endodontist...and his referrals possess same care and ethics that he possesses. I had an emergency situation this summer and it was handled by both East and West side locations with great care until it was ultimately taken care of. Everyone one on staff is friendly and welcoming. I am also very pleased with the timely manner in which insurance is processed. read more

Though I requested that no mercury amalgam be used, Dr. John Busby of Affiliated Dentists placed toxic mercury amalgam under a capped tooth which was an anchor for a bridge. He claimed that it had no mercury. For years after the installation of the bridge and mercury filling my health deteriorated, yet I could not track down the cause until a holistic health practitioner suggested that there may be mercury under the capped tooth ( Mercury is one of the most potent neurotoxins of all the heavy metals and an immunosuppressant.). I had the bridge removed and a large mercury filling was found. The biological dentist commented that the surrounding gum tissue had a prominent "mercury tattoo" caused from the mercury leaching into the gum. He also stated that the bridge was of inferior quality ( high nickel content and cheap materials) and had been forced into position, causing it to press into the gum. Upon removal of the bridge, an ulcerated, bleeding area of gum was uncovered. It was the source of discomfort and bleeding I had endured for years ( and non-biological dentists had discounted). A visit to a toxocologist revealed that I had very high levels of forms of mercury used in dental amalgam, as well as nickel. Within a few weeks of the removal of the bridge and amalgam my migraines decreased by 80% and neck pain, lymphatic swelling and fatigue began to reduce. When I went to Dr. Busby's office and requested my patient records, I was told that they had been "shredded." I asked to speak with Busby as I had questions about the materials he had placed in my mouth. I was denied an opportunity to address my questions to him. I encourage people to do their own research. I have found many journal articles linking breast and prostate cancer to mercury and nickel. The metals leach into the tissues of the mouth and then get into the lymphatic tissue of the neck and eventually to the breast ( which is highly lymphatic).. Beware of fluoride, as well--- Dr. Busby's office was promoting products with fluoride in them ( even for children) when I visited it to retrieve my records. Moved to Madison and had to leave old family dentist. Didn't feel very welcome to here, I was just another number coming in to their clinic. My cleaning here was fine enough- the dental hygenist wasn't able to explain to me very well what she was doing and why though. Came back for a filling and was not numbed enough, the dentist seemed annoyed that he had to wait for it to get numb. Will be going to new dentist from now on. read more

I started going to AD almost a year ago when I saw an ad in the paper about a "no pressure dentistry" and how they are very gentle. I had some work done before and the previous dentist was so aggressive with my teeth, one actually broke! I had avoided the dentist since then, mostly in fear, and a bit of shame. Having been so long since I'd had my teeth checked or cleaned, I was afraid of what the hygienist might say. But Neil, the hygienist, was so gentle! And very understanding. He didn't lecture me about my dental health. He didn't pester me about flossing or anything! He smiled the whole time, and was very sweet about the whole thing. And Dr. Gustavson was very nice as well. He came in and showed me some concerns on the bitewings. Told me which fillings needed to be addressed as priority. And when I came back in for the fillings, he and his assistant, Jean, were very gentle and explained what they were going to do, for my comfort. I came back today for my 6 mo. check up and cleaning, and was happy to hear everything is looking good! After being with a dentist I love for over a decade I needed to find a new one because of an insurance change. I've been to this office twice. The service was average and I didn't feel that work was being pushed that didn't need to be done which I respect and appreciate. I needed minor work which was done with no problems. However, be FOREWARNED about their billing office. I was on a payment plan for some work I had done. They sent me to a collection agency before my first payment was even due! This has caused a huge issue and consumed A LOT of my time trying to sort this out. I was even told by the billing office that the letter I received wasn't really a collection agency when it clearly says collection agency on the top of the letter. I am pulling my family from this dental clinic since there business practices in regards to billing are a headache. I'd be reluctant to continue service for if future work is needed for my family the lack of competency in the billing area could create additional headaches. Felt pretty crappy that after 2 visits this was the end result. Playing with ones credit isn't kosher in my book. read more
