Redbar Espresso & Market - Omelette sandwich + potatoes + latte

Redbar Espresso & Market

My daughter and I had breakfast here today and I can't express enough how much I enjoy their menu…read more She had never been to the Redbar before, and had also never had a crumpet. So it was doubly pleasing to be able to introduce her to this pleasing restaurant with its eclectic cuisine. The breakfast menu is what usually draws my attention. Served anytime, not just normal breakfast hours, a customer can choose between crumpets, omelettes, french toast, or just the usual bacon and eggs. I usually order one of their crumpets, but today, chose their Loaded Omelette with cheese grits. More like a purée, the grits were superb, creamy and buttery. My omelette was delivered spicy and hot. Giving my daughter a taste we soon concluded that the sausage used reminded us of the blood sausage we have enjoyed for breakfast in Peru, when we travel there to visit my wife's family. This is certainly not a typical omelette for Mobile, Alabama. My only complaint about it is that it was slightly overcooked and dry. Nevertheless, it was very tasty. My daughter had the Fried Egg and Cheese Crumpet, that she reported to be delicious. A mix-up on my drink order brought me a Turkish coffee rather than a Turkish latte, and suspiciously weak to be considered Turkish. I suspect that the cashier heard "Turkish", but not "latte", and confused, may have decided to see if a regular Americano would pass as an acceptable substitute. Except for the jolt I was expecting to receive, from the latte I ordered, it was acceptable. I am eager to return again to try one of their "Build Your Own Smashburger." Until then I will continue to hold the opinion that I have yet to have a disappointing meal at the RedBar, and I rest assured that my meal on that day will be equally satisfying.

I have stopped here for lunch or dinner 3 times recently as the food is amazing and the staff…read moregreat. if you are looking for a smaller portion check this place out. I have tried the stuffed mushroom, Shepards pie and a burger and all were fantastic. For a side I had the sweet potato casserole and it was ok, not my favorite as I found the potatoes to be slightly undercooked for my liking. Other than that every thing was amazing. The stuffed mushroom with balsamic reduction probably my favorite. Prices are really good too. The dining tables are old window with mason jars to drink from adding to the uniqueness. Will be back really soon.

Disclaimer - This review is based on MY experience alone…read more I have visited this place a total of 3 times. The first experience was fine, no problem. The second experience, I was met with attitude when I asked a question about a menu item - maybe the barista was having a bad day. The final experience occurred when I asked the barista is there an up-charge for syrup on the walls (not all coffee shops charge for this, btw). The barista responds, "No problem I can do that do that for you," and proceeds to make my drink. I look at my receipt and see that there was in fact, a charge for the syrup walls. Now this is a matter of integrity and principle. If there is an up-charge, then be "up-front" about it, especially when asked. Being shady or evasive about pricing a good way to gain loyal customers. Needless to say, this was my final time patronizing this establishment. Poor customer service is not a good look, especially in times of economic posterity. I'll take my money/business elsewhere. If a manager/supervisor actually reads these reviews, I strongly suggest reviewing the importance of pricing transparency and soft skills with staff.

Reney’s Honey Butter - Loaded Breakfast Sandwich

I wanted to get some breakfast and I heard about this place but I don't remember who brought it up…read more I didn't know what to order but I decided to get the loaded breakfast sandwich. I ordered mine as a biscuit with a sausage patty and cheddar cheese. My order was a pick up and it didn't take long for it to be ready. One note: the Google maps gps tells you to turn on McFarland to get to the restaurant but that goes to another building. You should stay on Cottage Hill and turn left just after you cross McFarland. When I entered the restaurant a woman greeted me and told her that I had an online order. There was another woman in, I believe, the kitchen area. They were very helpful. They explained that if I ordered on their site or app that the biscuits are always $5 on Friday. I ordered from Yelp which in turn directed me to DoorDash. That was great to know. When I got home the biscuit was still warm. It looked amazing. It's sort of a square shape. Anyway, it was delicious. The patty sausage was amazing. The biscuit was fluffy and light. The cheese and egg were situated perfectly on the biscuit as well. I enjoyed it. I want to come back and really experience the biscuits or other bread with the honey butter. I would definitely recommend the loaded breakfast sandwich.

This is an amazing piece! I just happen to be exploring near University of South Alabama. It just…read morehappens to be across the street from the USA. It was highly recommended. I can see why. To be honest, it doesn't seem like a normal dessert cafe. After experiencing the world class desserts and staff. I was surprised to know all the desserts are made fresh daily. As to many places import them in. The signature gelato is the saffron flavor. Very tasty. They said it was their signature and first flavor they made. If you do not know, Ice cream is airier than gelato and has a higher fat content while gelato is softer and packed with flavor. Both contain a lot of sugar, but gelato is traditionally made with less fat. My understanding, ice cream is made with cream and gelato is made from milk. They just do not just offer wonderful gelato. They do Turkish delight, baklava, Macarons, and etc. all made fresh daily. I did not try them all, only had the Turkish delight, saffron gelato, hot jasmine tea, and the coffee Affogato. The coffee Affogato is great flavor but not overwhelming enough to put you off the taste of coffee. But you definitely taste the coffee flavor. More like a coffee with cream and sugar taste. I took pictures of the gelatos but decided not to because i did not take a picture of right away. It kinda melted. So I did not post them. The tea has a strong jasmine tea flavor and the Turkish delight is very soft and very sweet and chewy. I sampled the chocolate Affogato. If you are big into dark chocolate. I definitely recommend this. It is very delicious! Just too rich and delicious my palate. They have some wonderful seating outside and inside. They do offer free Wi-Fi and some board games if available. The seating area is comfortable and good spot to relax and unwind. Especially if you just want something sweet and quiet place to get away. Definitely recommend this place if you are in the area! If not, make a day trip out of it. I do not know if they have any other places in the Mobile area. But the nearest place west is in New Orleans. I heard that they might have a spot in Pensacola? But do not hold me to it. You will not be disappointed! In my opinion.
