Never again.. and THIS time we mean it. We decided to get an…read moreearly eat out supper because of my busy schedule. We arrived about 5:00 and it was not busy. We were seated and immediately ignored. I noticed that several of the tables surrounding us had not been cleaned well as ours had not. It was a good 10 minutes before someone noticed our table and asked if we were ok. We had no drinks or anything so my husband told him that no one had come to take our drink order. So the guy apologized profusely and a few minutes later we had drinks and some hush puppies and we gave our order... and we waited and waited and waited literally more than 30 minutes. Eventually the same guy appeared and told us that they had just started on our order because the kitchen had been busy with an unusually large takeout order. A while later someone came out with food but it wasn't what we'd ordered so they took it back to the kitchen and started over. The guy came out and again apologized profusely and promised us a huge discount and free desserts after the meal. FINALLY part of what we ordered arrived and we decided to just try to eat and get outta there. The food we got was terrible. My flounder tasted like the oil it had been cooked in and their usual slaw tasted heavily salted. It was very bad. We were given a discount on the food but not the drinks and were not charged for the food we ordered but were not served. The desserts that had been offered we passed on just to get outta there... Still what we paid was FAR too dear for what we ate. I know the quality of Mayflower has diminished since we've been occasionally frequenting it over the past 30 years but this was the last time we will EVER try it again.

I ordered the Grilled chicken breast with the Grilled Tilapia and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food, I highly recommend the grilled tilapia. Will be back, and God bless.

I love their food. Had a bit of everything here from their tacos, specials, enchiladas, fajitas,…read moreand more and I'm never disappointed. This is authentic Mexican food. Spanish is spoken here and when I walk out I know a little bit more Spanish than I did coming in. The servers are super friendly and love their decor inside. Menus are under the glass which is on the table so it's easy to order. Their beans are the best in town hands down and yes that rhymes. You will see me here a lot and until next time.....

We'd heard that there was one place in town where we could get them, which came highly recommended by a friend who'd been here. The caveat was that the birria tacos are only served on Fridays. So we planned to do birria tacos on Friday. We came here and got 4 orders of birria tacos. I added an agua de Jamaica to my order. While we waited, I perused the adjacent grocery store and purchased some Mexican Coca-Colas, conchas, and a box of mango Pulparindo. Soon enough, our order was ready. We took our goodies back to my place, turned on a good movie, and partook in our feast. These tacos are full of flavor. The meat is tender, and the cheese was perfectly melted inside the consome-soaked tortillas. The meal is served with pickled onion and habanero pepper, fresh cilantro and onions, limes, and a house-made hot sauce. Of course, in true birria fashion, there is a cup of hot consome in which to dunk the tacos. The freshness of the condiments perfectly compliments the fatty richness of the tacos. Jamaica is my favorite agua fresca and always reminds me of my favorite Caribbean drink, Sorrel, as they are both made from the hibiscus flower. Though Mexican Agua de Jamaica has a different flavor profile than Sorrel, it always fills me with a sense of comfort and nostalgia. Their Jamaica is delicious and comes in a huge cup, so you always get enough. Since this first visit, we've made taco Fridays a tradition. I always order the birria tacos and agua de Jamaica. I've also tried lots of their other tacos (asada, chicharron, pastor, lengua, etc.) as an add-on to my birria order, but the birria outshines them all. These tacos are absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend adding them to your Friday takeout tradition. Be sure to peruse the pastry case for a fresh dessert to finish your meal and pick up some other treats along the way.
