We had used Overhead in another state many years ago. They were good enough and had no problems. We are an hour from Billings but still in the southern part of the state. Keven arrived the next afternoon and work for about two hours. When he finished, he opened the door. I noticed the door didn't open all the way. He closed the door and tucked a cable into the track. He opened the door and it seemed fine. It didn't take long until it wasn't opening all the way again but that was okay. We were still able to drive our pickup into the garage. Then we traded our "little" pickup for a "bigger" pickup and we couldn't drive it into the garage. I called Overhead Door of Southern Montana. To claim southern Montana as your service area is a really huge area with a number of small towns. They were really busy and didn't have anyone to go to the outlying areas. They would try to combine some of us so that no one was paying the full amount for mileage. I appreciated that and I expected a phone call later that week to let me know when they would be in our area. I didn't get that call so I called again. No, they didn't have anyone to come to the outlying areas. Everyone was busy with "urgent" commercial projects. I called again the next week. My husband was anxious to get our new truck into the garage. I was told the same thing as the week before. I wasn't very happy and I wasn't very nice. She said they were "family owned". I'll give them a star for that. She said she'd talk to the boss. I didn't hear anything for the rest of that week. On Tuesday of the following week (two weeks after my call that someone needed to come back), I had a voicemail that Overhead was coming to our area. I called back to tell them, "Too late. We are going to someone else." I truly appreciate family owned businesses. But if you have a big contract or multiple contracts, then hire the necessary number of employees or subcontractors to get the work done.

Best Construction Contractors I've Ever Dealt With…read more Kirkness Roofing put a metal roof on our house after a hailstorm. Yes, it's beautiful. We get lots of compliments on it. Plus, there was zero hassle dealing with them. Zero. From start to finish, it went smoothly. The initial sales, estimates, explanations of choices were simple and clear. The crew and their foreman were skilled and answered all my questions. The office staff were similarly responsive, clear and prompt. And finally, the final inspection was detailed, caring, and even provided a great recommendation for the next project, replacing windows wrecked in the same hailstorm. We're using the firm recommended. When I was young, my Dad ran a construction company, 1960's and 70's. I loved going to job sites with him. I'm no expert, but I've done a lot of remodeling since then. When I couldn't handle something, I've hired a number of contractors over the years. It has never gone this well. Why not? Not only is it unfinished, but no one has been out in over a month to work on it citing multiple reasons from not paying invoices (untrue: every invoice has been paid), being short staffed, getting ghosted by other contractors, and just being plain forgetful. The best part is them saying they're too short staffed to come out and finish work they started a year ago now, but they still keep taking on new jobs for new clients that they know they won't be able to finish unless they START ANOTHER NEW JOB FOR SOMEONE ELSE then use that money to finish the original job. They literally have unfinished construction projects all over the area that are just sitting rotting. Don't use this company.
