As I've stumbled through the broken system of Western…read moremedicine waiting months for appointments only to find the cure worse than the disease and feeling like my docs. barely knew me I took a random chance on Dr. Mao. Literally googled Chinese medicine close to me. If you are looking for all the frills of a modern medical office this isn't your place. But if you look beyond the simple space and trust his practice I find him to be extraordinary. Dr Mao is incredibly intuitive, asks all the right questions and most important to me, he spends all the time that is needed to test and answer any questions I might have. He is so positive he can help and he has helped me so much. I've been using him for about 2 months now and 90% of the time my lungs almost feel normal. He's the real deal. I would recommend him to anyone who is open and willing to give this method a try. Good luck to anyone seeking help on their health you will be in good hands.

For those of you who don't know of him, he is a "Yelp Fabulous Find!" He is trained in both Western Medicine and Chinese Medicine. If you search on his name, you will find a long list of over 35 scientific medical papers, and the universities that he has worked and trained at. Oh yeah, fellow Yelpers, so he's well credentialed, but is he going to help me get my mojo going? Heck, yeah! He's helped so many Westerners and Asians. If you are seeking Alternative Medicine, come full circle to see Peizhong, who deeply understands the Western medical conditions. Peizhong will tell you directly, if you really need to see a Western doctor, or if Chinese Herbs can be a way out of whatever's going on with you. Okay, he also has Chinese Herbs in capsule form, if you aren't into concocting your own. If you're a die hard Earth Mother or Other, he'll write you a prescription, that you can get filled at Wing Ming Herbs. If you live on Portland's East Side, you can make appointments to meet him at Wing Ming Herbs, or take a trip to Lake O, when Portland is shut down. Yesterday, I had an appointment with Drew, who eloquently and accurately described his work as…read more"Energetic, Deep Tissue Massage". I've experienced a number of varyingly wonderful massages/body work sessions, but Drew's felt like what I've always hoped I would experience. Someone who's life and love of body work merges with their psychological and spiritual presence as well. Drew approaches the work very holistically, cultivating a calming atmosphere of relaxation, rest, and healing, and then guides the time like a full body meditation. His intuitiveness and sensitivity to the energies moving through my muscles, ligaments, and joints required barely a word of communication or direction from me. The work he's done has lasted well into the next day and my days have been much better for it. The location of Written On The Body Massage Studio is on a busy street, which was initially a deterrent for me personally, but the moment I walked through the door, the outside noise faded, the aroma stimulated my attention, and the environment engaged me as if we were far away from the busyness and distraction of the city. Then, walking back outside after my session, I felt grounded, centered, and more peaceful than it did before. That's another way of sayings it changed the world for me. :)

Luna has a special gift. With very little input from me, she delivered a highly therapeutic massage, including even some well executed trigger point therapy and myofascial release, and knew exactly how much pressure to apply to keep my comfortable. I left her office feeling like I could take on the world. I'll be making regular appointments with Luna from now on. Highly recommended!

Let me start by saying I am one of those people that "hates" massages because I don't like being…read moretouched (no really though, like stranger hugs make me SO uncomfortable,) and I have struggled in my life with massages. They're either incredibly painful or useless. I had a therapist in FL who I saw regularly during pregnancy and he was amazing and I built a GREAT repoire with. Then I moved here and found a woman who I again felt did a good job, etc and never hurt me, then she started ranting about her life and problems everytime I went so THAT was very stressful and I left feeling crap. I recently started working with Aaron Woods at Grind Time Fitness and the training is INTENSE and hard. That said, I had SO many knots in my shoulders and neck. Tuesday night I got maybe 2.5 hours sleep. And I kept waking up because I was in pain. That was not okay. He had told me, since last week...to go get a massage. I caved. And I knew that this was a reputable place and it was nearby, and most importantly, there was availability. I never ever have any expectations of a massage because I don't really care for them. But I honestly have to say this was probably THE best massage of my life. It was uncomfortable at times because I was super knotted up, but never painful. And I know to breathe, just lik during tattoos, so I was fine. But I felt SO much better. But more importantly I SLEPT. Ameen told me to sleep on my back with a pillow under my legs as much as possible for the next week to let everything settle. Which is difficult because I'm a side sleeper. But I followed orders and slept SO hard. I felt SO much better today it was unreal. I cannot recommend highly enough. Which sucks in a way because that (BETTER) mean he will have a lot more business!! Thank you SO much Ameen!!!
