Dr. Somoano has been my OBGYN for more than 40 years. he delivered my three children. i wouldn't change him for anyone. he is an amazing and loving and experienced doctor. all of my visits are always so pleasant and extremely successful. i love this location a lot. read more

West Kendall OBGYN is a big and well-equipped office with numerous staff personnel who are prompt to answer your call when you are a new patient. They completely change after the first visit to the total opposite. You are placed in an office where you must wait more than 20 minutes to see the doctor and nobody comes to see or notify you about the arrival of the doctor [which in my case was 2 1/2 hours].  The assistants do not show any empathy, interest, human connections that make me feel that I am just a number or a robot in a list instead of a real human being. I decided to give them another opportunity, but the experience repeated itself when the chain of communication between West Kendall OBGYN and the pharmacy was nonexistent.  The doctor in the clinic prescribed an antibiotic for my condition and one of the front desk clerks assured me that the prescription was sent electronically to the Pharmacy. This turned out to be a big deception with West Kendall OB-GYN since the pharmacy never received the prescription. I called the Pharmacy since there was no response from them and they told me that did not receive any prescription. I attempted to contact West Kendall OBGYN [again] concerning the prescription and the pharmacy but there was no response.  I contacted again [West Kendall OBGYN] from 9:30AM to 3:45PM [without success] concerning this lack of medical professionalism and they placed me on hold repetitively with the prerecorded greetings.  One of the clerks [who identified herself as "Claudia"] answered one of my phone calls in a rude, challenging, and very demeaning as well as unprofessional manner concerning the prescription and pharmacy matter including being placed on hold again. "Claudia" only identified herself after I stated that a negative review about West Kendall OBGYN will be written.  I decided to send an E-Mail to West Kendall OBGYN explaining my situation and asking them to leave a voice mail, yet a response was never received. I called back and received another voicemail [this one identified herself as Jackie] and no response from this service.  I left a voicemail explaining the reason for my call but as you can expect from a place running for ineffective human-robots, nobody called me back or sent the antibiotic prescription to the pharmacy. I just hope I don't need them otherwise I will end it in the ER due to an untreated infection. read more

This one is long, so grab your popcorn. I cannot say enough terrible things about this practice. I was expecting my first baby and upon scheduling my first appointment, I had the highest hopes that Baptist would live up to its name. If I were to sit here and write about all of my experiences with this office, I could write a book. To sum it all up, the receptionists are extremely UNPROFESSIONAL and lack the most common form of education. They answer the phones mid-conversation with other staff while giggling - that's if they even answer the phones. Doctors rush through appointments and treat you like you're just another number. You know, some of us women are first-time moms and these doctors don't even have the mental capability of guiding you through the OBGYN process. No suggesting hospital tours, how to find a pediatrician for your child, NOTHING. One specific appointment, I waited one whole hour and 45 minutes to get into a room. Unbelievably enough, Dr. Cardona saw me for 3 minutes and left the room without a proper goodbye. He also informed me that I "was definitely" having a c-section because my baby was measuring big. (we all know ultrasounds aren't even 100% accurate) Joke was on him; I had the one and only wonderful doctor there advise me that it was not true whatsoever and a few months later delivered my son naturally. He's a narcissist who only cares about his looks and squirting jelly on your stomach to view the baby's heartbeat. That's about all he is good for. I also had Dr. Maricel Perez Torres take a phone call (non-emergency) in the room while attending me; totally ignoring my time with her and putting another patient before while chit chatting about catching up. If you are attending me, it's to be present. Not to be having a full conversation with another patient. To add to that, I had a high risk pregnancy and losing my baby.. She said all I could do was "pray" and shrugged her shoulders with a smirk on her face. She left the room and thank the Lord I never saw her again. On a separate occasion, Dr. Cardona gave me false information while blatantly telling me that my other doctor lied about my results - this was not true. Dr. Arronte - unprofessional. Brushes off your questions and makes you feel stupid for asking anything at all. From missing results, awaiting results for months + calling multiple times, on hold for hours, having to complain to the manager, waiting times, unprofessional doctors and staff, overcharging for co-payments until I mentioned "when will this stop?" And they never charged me another co-pay. They also never sent my prescriptions to the pharmacy and made ME call and stay on hold for a whole hour. Every time I'd go in for an appointment there was an issue with either the wait time, front desk or pitiful doctors with horrible bedside manner. By the end of my pregnancy I'd have high blood pressure at every single visit. THEY were causing my stress each time I'd step foot in that place. Sadly enough I couldn't even enjoy my first pregnancy. I can rightfully say that I will never return to this office. I would have never expected to go through such turmoil, stress, and anxiety during my first pregnancy. *Apparently my review from 2019 was removed so I'm adding it again* Clearly nothing has changed and they've only gone downhill from my experience during October 2018 - June 2019. It's an absolute SHAME that such a prestigious hospital like Baptist represents this practice. Overall, a practice with 9 DOCTORS is a nightmare. There's no way humanly possible you can create a relationship with any doctor at all. This is a FACTORY to them. This practice gave me the absolute worst anxiety, stress and agony my ENTIRE pregnancy. WEST KENDALL OBGYN NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN. Ladies, please think about yourselves and your babies. These doctors do not care about you. *I will not mention my favorite doctor ever because thankfully he is no longer associated with this h*ll hole and has opened his own practice - as deserved. The staff is mostly friendly. Some of the male doctors are not compassionate and treat you like they just want you out. If you have an appointment scheduled, be sure to block out 2 hours of your time which 1 3/4 hours will be spent waiting to see someone. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Let my start off by saying that I 'm not one to leave any reviews on any sites, but the FRAUD this office is committing is really just the tip of the iceberg. PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING. This office was recommended to me by a good friend and I have been a patient for 2 years. Dr. Marotta was super nice and friendly & made me feel comfortable, I only have one complaint and that is I wished she would have communicated more with me. In 2019 I went for my annual Pap. Everything went great, doctor didn't mention anything was out of the ordinary. I left and went on with my day. Fast forward to early March 2020 I begin receiving calls from the Florida Woman Care Laboratory which is the lab used by this OBGYN Office. This lab was notifying me that my account would be sent to collections if I did not pay my outstanding balance. I had no idea what they were talking about. Turns out that my doctor had requested not only my regular pap but also had requested separate testing and DID NOT NOTIFY OR MENTION this to me at all. When i called the office to ask about this, they stated that those tests are included with the Pap, but that made no sense because my insurance covers FULLY my annual checkup therefore there was no reason as to why i was being billed. Long story short, I have been going back and forth between this office, the lab and my insurance for 5 months trying to sort this out. None have been able to assist me. I was transferred to a Manager in Doral by the Name of Mable who was extremely rude and basically gave me a big F you. Not in those words obviously. She stated that since it's been a year they cant change the codes. My insurance basically said the same. The Lab people say I'm responsible because my provider requested the tests on my behalf. I'm sorry but if you're not notifying your patients of EVERYTHING you are doing and EVERYTHING you are testing for and then you're billing the insurance, that's FRAUD. What's crazy is that when i went again this year prior to knowing all of this, THEY BILLED THE SAME THING! I had to call them to correct the error before they made me go through this nightmare again. The office personal is super unprofessional and rude. It seems no one there knows what they are doing SPECIALLY the BILLING Department. Side note: One of my co-workers also goes to this office and they did this to her as well. It's safe to say I will NEVER return to this office and I implore others to stay away and find a place that will treat them like people and not ATM machines. Also, any time i called to speak with my doctor they said she was out for the next 3 months and they weren't sure exactly when she would be returning. SUPER FISHY. read more

First appointment after confirmation of my pregnancy, myself and my husband were nervous and excited to see the Dr. We waited over two hours to see the Doctor!!!! The waiting room was full of people waiting, some waiting longer then me. The waiting area was so full that some patients were even standing. In conversations within the waiting room, very pregnant patients waiting were saying that it is always a really long wait. Finally when I went in, the doctor was not engaging at all, spent five minutes with me, did not go through any "what to dos or what not to dos"; it seemed as I was more of a bother for him than a patient. RN was great very sweet, techs were also nice. Save yourself the headache there are plenty of excellent OBs in the Kendall area that are attentive and that are better organized with patient scheduling. read more

Probably the worst medical office I have ever visited. 1 star for being clean, but that's about it. They treat your health very lightly. A few of the nurses are nice, and the doctors are decent as well. However, I will not be returning here, because I cannot deal with their complete lack of inneffiency, communication, and most of all proffesionalism. Look forward to many HIPAA violations, at least a 2 hour wait, and to being treated with complete lack of care if you decide to visit here. I was referred to this office by one of my co workers! I have no complaints! I know there was a few complains that they take forever, well I personally got early to my check up and early to my follow up just to avoid that! My appointment was at 9:30 am with doctor SIRVEN at 11:00 I saw the receptionist calling a patient and telling her her doctor left and another doctor will see her, I though they were talking about another doctor because they didn't tell me anything... after a few minutes I went to the receptionist and ask her about my appointment. I had been waiting for 2 hours already, she looked surprise when I told her my appointment was at 9:30 which makes me think she forgot about me... then with a very bad attitude she told me the doctor had an emergency and left and that another doctor could see me but in one hour or more!!! it was already 11:30 am I already lost all my morning in the waiting area for nothing, I need to go to work...She was all the time with a very bad attitude, Horrible to be honest, never said sorry... I understand the doctor had an emergency what I don't understand is that the doctor left at 10:30 and I realised it at 11:30 BECAUSE I ASKED HER. Some of the staff are nice. Waiting time is quite a long time. They charged me . They charged the insurance and would not give me a receipt. They don't inform the insurance when you pay so it can be applied towards the deductible. I was told I needed a procedure and they scheduled me for it. I called the next day to speak to the doctor since I had done some research and I had questions. I was then told I could not speak to the doctor unless I got an appointment. Do I had to get an appointment and pay again. When I brought to attention my concerns she said I really didn't need the procedure. I have been attending this clinic for the past 5 years West Kendall, and Dr. Perfetto and her nurse are absolutely amazing. However, in Kendall first time been in that office. Office staff, particularly Yari and Lili Quintana, are among the most unprofessional and rudest people I have ever met in my life. After performing a very expensive procedure on me, one of which I was not notified would cost as much as it did, the office staff belittled and yelled at me in front of the entire office (patients and doctors included) when I simply politely inquired as to why I was not notified of the cost of the procedure beforehand. The office staff savagely yelled at me saying that if I didn't want to pay, they would put a claim on my insurance and call collections on me. She turned around and under her breath told her coworkers that she was not in the mood for this today (translated from the Spanish phrase, "hoy tengo el moño virado" - which were her exact words). As an ob/gyn and NICU nurse and professional myself, I would NEVER fathom treating a patient the way they treated me today. It was not only unprofessional, but unprecedented and downright rude! My apologies to Dr. Perfetto and her nurse, but I will never again attend this clinic. Considering that their main clientele are pregnant women under the influence of hormones or other women on hormone medications, the staff should be a little more considerate and compassionate toward the needs and emotions of their patients. read more

Went there for a check up first time at a gynecologist office and it was the worst experience ever. I went during my lunch break had to call off for the rest of the day my appointment was at 1 didn't get seem till 3 in the afternoon when I finally got seen I was told the doctor was too busy if it was okay for the nurse could check me I said yes cause I was tired of waiting and when I got seen I let her know that it was my first time and didn't know what to expect the nurse took a swab sample and said that was it and sent me home didn't ask me any questions or anything. I get home that day and start checking my breast cause my mom had told me they were suppose to check and they didn't and I felt a lump. Very next day I call they give me the appointment I already told my boss that I wasn't gonna be able to come back after I leave for my appointment cause they have ridiculously long waiting times even if you have an appointment. The first receptionist was super nice apologized for the inconvenience and told me that she wasn't going to charge since I had just been there yesterday and the doctor was suppose to check them then the other girl super rudely butted in and said "if she wanted to get her breast checked out she should've said something charge her again" in those exact words, 2 months later they refunded me without an apology or anything. Do not recommend at all I was literally crying as I was telling them I had a lump that I just wanted to get checked out as soon as possible that I didn't care just to charge me still waiting two and a half hours to get seen by the nurse again cause doctor was "too busy". read more

I can't imagine going to any other gynecologist. In my opinion he is the best of the best. Would definitely give it a lower rating if I could, every single time I make an appointment I'm not taken in on time, the delay is never 5, 10 or 15 min, I'm always waiting well over 45-50 min past my appointment time even if I arrive earlier than I'm supposed to. After I'm taken in I'm told to put on the paper gown and make me wait some more, every single time approximately 30 more minutes before I'm actually seen. The doctor made a mistake when she inserted my IUD and I was the one to point it out for them to then tell me I had to go through the stress of removing it and inserting a new one AND THEN receiving a 2k bill for it. Both offices that I've been to, the one on 117th and the one in west Kendall baptist are absolutely horrible, the staff is super rude and like I said always waiting an insane amount of time, if I make an appointment I'm definitely not expecting to be there more than 2 hours past that fine but it ALWAYS takes way long than that. I have been a patient of Dr. Perfetto and Dr. Marotta for about 4 years. when one is not available I feel confident to consult with the other. I love the whole staff. They take the time to go over my concerns and give me the best options available. What makes me go back everytime is the fact that the staff is so courteous and are not afraid to go the extra mile. The doctors are good doctors now the staff is rude and unprofessional. The office manager at west Kendall arts building yuri is the rudest.I have Medicaid and that covers all ultrasounds done. I have called and they have confirmed that and I've had to pay for it out of pocket and they've had to refund me. Now yuri refuses to put in a claim to my insurance because to her knowledge they won't cover it and according to her I won't pay if the insurance won't cover due to all their outstanding dues with their patients. since I know that my insurance covers it I paid it and I will have to call them and have them call the doctors office and deal with them and then have them give me a refund. I've already had to do this twice. Yuri talks down to you like your asking for charity. She also got loud with me in fount if the doctors and staff. Mind you I'm 37 weeks pregnant and a Patient. She acts like she's in high school nodding her head back and forth and one hand on the hip and swinging her finger left to right. ALL they care about is your money not the baby. I am really wondering what Dr the people in these negative reviews are going to? It cannot possibly the same West Kendall Obgyn that I go to? I have had Somoano as my Obgyn since 2012, he delivered both my sons via Csection and I had an AMAZING experience with both of them, I was up and walking that same day and the healing process was great and quick and I have no visible scar whatsoever. My sisters and I were actually delivered by him! I am now on my 3rd child with him and he is just the best, so knowledgeable, so caring, so attentive, he has a great hands on approach and he makes you feel like you are his only patient. And I am really wondering why these people are waiting so long in the waiting area? I literally get there for my appts and have not waited more than 5-10 minutes EVER. Jess his assistant is my favorite, they are both hilarious and just make the experience something to look forward to. I could really write a novel about my positive experience.
