We had another great boaring experience with both Polo the pup and Lemmy the cat here this weekend! Both pets got the deluxe accommodations, with Polo getting the video camera we could access from an app. However, they have a new app and it is glitchy and never could connect despite sweet Ashley working with me on the phone for nearly 30 minutes. Shr was kind and patient with me. However it was disappointing not to get to check on Polo via an easy video app like previously. They can administer vaccines and Lemmy got his vaccines without a hitch apparantly. Both animals were happy and we were thrilled to pick them up on Sunday at 3:45. Typically you can get in fifteen minutes early on Saturday and Sunday for pickup. The staff were friendly and kind! I recommend West Madison Veterinary Clinic!!! read more

Didn't get a good feeling bringing my dog here. I'm new to the area and tried both this place and another down hwy72 to see which would be a better place for my two dogs. Same exact service, a checkup and routine vaccinations. From the beginning this place just kept trying to sell me on a bunch of tests that weren't needed for my perfectly healthy dog. X-rays "to see if maybe there's a growth somewhere." My return three weeks later for my dogs follow-up vaccine charged me an extra technician fee on top of the shot itself which I've never seen in 6 previous vets I've taken my dogs and cats over the last decade. On top of all this, they charged roughly 10% more than the other place in town for what seemed to me not as thorough a checkup. read more

This is the best vet I have ever taken my cat to. I have boarded her for long periods of time and I can confidently bring her in knowing she's in great hands. They've always taken the best care of her. They take my concerns seriously, although a little pricey sometimes (as it is anywhere), the best care is well worth it for my baby. Everyone is always so kind and understanding. Could not recommend them anymore. read more

I'm forced to give one star for a rating only reason why I give that. My beloved schnauzer died yesterday there after 2 hours of care. She was in respiratory distress when I arrived. I decided to euthanize her after emotionally calming down and reasonably knowing her prognosis was grim. I paid $663.64 waking in the door for what was projected not actual cost before they started working either het at all. They didn't do a 2 view and I only seen a cbc and cmp lab no ultrasound. Also $50 an hour for oxygen is ridiculous if I'd seen that and not been emotional I would've said so then. But all that aside it was after I euthanized her while holding her and spending time in the room to say goodbye since I was too emotional to decide what I wanted to do with her body at the time. the vet told me to leave her in the room and just tell the front desk I was on my way out. That they stopped me to try to get more money for paw prints and other options for cremation etc. then told me I owed another $386 no itemized statement was given the girl began talking to someone else about a credit in my account and how she didn't know how to apply it then said you don't have to worry about it you have a credit to work with when deciding on the other price list for her remains but then ask for $380 again. I told her I've paid $663 to them the day before I paid $397 to another vet and another $300 last Monday I don't have it I get paid Friday and I can pay you then. I can take her body with me now the girl Just looks at me so I go back pick up my dog and walk out holding her body drenched in urine get in my car when this girl comes out aggressively yelling at me to get out of car and pay my bill or she's reporting me for for theft and other unnecessarily rude and aggressive comments while I'm holding my dead dog emotionally devastated. As I told her she's not getting it today I'm financially drained and still have a dead dog. I have to be at work in 2 hours so if you need to call the police or whatever do that but I'm not getting out of the car and coming back in to apply for a care credit nor am I laying my dogs body down until It's at home. Regardless of business and yes the over inflated price they charge it's the epitome of heartless and lack of empathy or compassion yelling and treating someone holding their dead dog in their arms like a criminal who has paid thousands of dollars to them over just a year for boarding( $1300 just once) for 8 days. I attached a copy of the estimate. Which they marked The service they did do at the time. With black checks. The only thing past this was give her the 2 euthanasia meds. I couldn't imagine talking to anyone overwhelmed with grief the way this woman spoke to me in any situation ethically I would not be allowed to either. I was in no way being rude I couldn't even talk honestly. Mostly she's an idiot of course she is uneducated about grief. I've passed into the anger stage of grief and I'm glad I wasn't in it then as she'd had a legal ground to stand on but they will not be getting $400 from me unless it's drug through court. The emotionally turmoil caused by this woman beating on my car window is beyond. read more

Had a issue with my dog and I was able to get in almost immediately with hardly any wait at all. We were seen, taken care of, given meds, and out the door.Extremely pleased and will be using them in the future. I have not boarded there yet so that's the only reason for 4 out of 5 stars. Awful. First time customers (spouse made the reservation) and didn't even make it in the door because boarding appointment was cancelled due to an "error" in overbooking. Voicemail stated we could be put on a waiting list. Unacceptable. This, during the busiest time of the year one week prior to boarding date. Spent 3+ hours trying to find another opening at another location because most are full. read more

I boarded my dog in a luxury suite, the first time we tried this service. They had an issue with the camera. When they worked it out, they changed the password and didn't inform me. They said that I was doing something wrong signing in. I worked and worked with the app (deleting, reloading, attempting to log in many times, calling for assistance during the 1 hour that they answer phones on the weekend, etc.). Then, when I picked up my dog they didn't offer compensation for their error and said that it was a "camera issue". It was primarily an issue with the printed directions having a password that was changed without informing me. When I asked for compensation, they refused and didn't even check with management. I asked for copies of records for my 3 pets and said that for a small refund they could have retained a customer and that, over the lives of my 3 pets, they are losing thousands of dollars. I said that I wouldn't be back. They didn't care at all! I felt like they were saying (without actually saying the words) - "Don't let the door hit you on your way out." I will take my business where it is appreciated. read more

These folks continue to provide top shelf service. They were instrumental in assisting us with our dear friend and companions passing. Everyone demonstrated compassionate and empathetic attitudes making this difficult time easier. In life they always provided Daisy with great care and ultimately in death they did the same. My 16 year old kitty had serious skin issues for more than 10 years. In addition to giving him test after test, I put him on every treatment, supplement, cat food and therapy imaginable. Still, every 4-6 weeks he had to have a steroid shot. Often antibiotics and/or other treatments were required as well. It was taking a toll on both of us. I even took him to the only veterinary dermatologist in our state - no solutions. No solutions, that is, until I took him to see Dr. Mixon. It took one visit to start my kitty on the road to recovery. Dr. Mixon started us on a new drug and a new protocol. He looks so much better - and he feels so much better too. It's great to see him playing at this age! I really appreciate the care that we receive at West Madison Veterinary Hospital. The staff is friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. My kitty will live a lot longer now with a much better quality of life. read more

I will start by saying that the staff is courteous. We have gone here for two years or so now. Today was the last visit though. We order our pet's heartworm meds online or get it from a local pharmacy. Each time our pet is due for a new script they force a heartworm test before they will write the script. They do not require it if you buy the meds from them. They feed you a line of garbage about how they can't trust meds from outside their office so you must get the heartworm test or they won't write the script. This is nothing but an attempt to recover some of the revenue lost by consumers being able to choose places that do not overcharge for pet meds. It is not a righteous act to ensure your pet's safety. Today, I told them no heartworm test and I will get his heartworm meds elsewhere. After this, they took him for another shot he was due. When they returned with the bill they told me they did the heartworm check. When I once again stated I did not want the test done their response was that they already did it so I had to pay. So, now they forced me to pay their fee for this b.s. line of revenue. I will take my dog to honest people from here on. I understand a fee to write the script. That is a service that should come with a reasonable price. Forcing tests on animals because you want to recover money lost on overpriced medications from your office is some low down morals. Wal-mart and many other retailers get their meds from the same distributors as veterinarians. I'm way more offended by the way this money grab is presented as them helping you keep your pet healthy than I am by the cost of the heartworm test. I would recommend to everyone to find a vet elsewhere. read more

I am from California and was traveling with my cat when she picked up some skin issues. Being a tech myself I am very hesitant as to who trreats my baby. I am so glad I went with Dr Mixon. My cat has never acted so well during an appointment. Dr Mixon, her techs, and the receptionists up front were all awesome and knew just the proper way to handle a cat, especially one that is usually a turd. They have the magic touch I guess! Nice vet, clean office. However, she refuses to write your pets prescription. You must pay her super inflated prices for them. She charges $81 for a 30 ct pack of 5mg Vetoryl that I could buy on my online pharmacy for $33. Tests were priced a bit higher. I chose not to purchase or have any further treatment for my pet due to cost and that ridiculous prescription policy. read more

Let me start by saying that Dr. Mixon is an excellent vet and I highly recommend her. We have been using her for our pets for years and will continue to do so. However, if you are looking for a kennel you should know that you may end up over paying. We dropped our puppy off on Friday around 4 PM and picked her up Sunday at 4 PM. That is two nights of boarding, right? No, according to the lady that checked me out that was actually three nights. I challenged her and was told that since she had to be walked Sunday afternoon, that would count as three nights. The problem is, you cannot pick up before then, because they are only open from 4-5 on weekend days! You will be charged for three days! Our total for boarding for 48 hrs was $58 and some change. We will definitely board somewhere else from now on! read more

I have to make it known I can not say enough about the staff at West Madsion! Dr. Mixon knows her animals! I wouldn't trust anyone with my babies! Both my Cat and Dog get the full treatment here, its so clean and so fancy! I have been boarding my dogs here frequently for about 3 years now. I absolutely love the kennel staff, the front desk staff and Dr. Mixon. They take care of my furbabies as if they were their own, and are so accommodating to my special needs dog. I use the luxury suite so my pups can be in there together. When I first started using them for boarding, I was out of town over a holiday weekend. Dr. Mixon called my cell phone (on a Sunday, over a holiday weekend), to tell me about something she noticed on one of my babies and was asking permission for treatment - it wasn't even urgent but she notified me. I SO appreciated that - - at a regular boarding facility this would not have happened. I can't recommend this place enough!!! read more
