My son is detained at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. He was having a serious issue with his meals and this was causing extreme weight loss and health issues. The young lady, SCS Sanchez, who answered the phone when I got through, was so kind and pleasant. She put me on a brief hold and called his unit for more information. When she came back on the line she gave me good information that the issue was taken care of by one of the Sargent's today and that he would be getting his meals correctly. What the jailers at this facility don't understand is that Bail Agents cannot do their jobs unless they pick up the phone and provide Bail Bond information. Bail Agents lose business constantly due to West Valley jailers not picking up the phone. People take their business elsewhere when we cannot provide them information in a timely fashion. It's very convenient for these jailers to just not pick up the phones. They're knowing to pick up, and leave it off the hook so it doesn't disturb them. They have no idea on how such a simple act of not picking up can negatively affect one's livelihood. But who cares right? we're just bail bondsman. People can care less about us. read more

I am contracted and provide mental health services at West Valley Detention Center. Considering it's jail, it's not bad here. The cells are clean, food is hot and everyone does their part to make the jail run. It's takes multiple departments coming together for each client's care. So it really is a team effort. Not to mention you have dayshift and nightshift rotations occurring. It's truly unfortunate to see the negative experiences people have posted on here. Being on the inside for the past year, I will say that there are some hard working staff members that work at WVDC. And they do their best to provide the best service possible. The deputies work their butts off and deal with some of the worst and craziest stuff ever. You literally are exposed to things that nightmares are made of. So for that I commend the SGT's, deputies, doctors, nurses and clinicians that work at West Valley Detention Center. It takes a mental and physical toll on individuals to work in this environment. And it is not easy. That being said, when inmates are "mistreated" it is because they are not being compliant (not following instruction or doing what they are told) and/ or they are resisting the officers. That's where disciplines come into play (brick diet) and being sent to the hole. It's jail folks. Don't break the law and do bad things. Then you won't have to deal with the politics of being incarcerated. And if you do have to serve time, stay out of trouble. Follow the rules. Ultimately jail is a consequence of breaking the law. And I believe that West Valley meets expectations of providing what is required to each individual as well as offering additional help such as mental health services to individuals struggling with mental illness. West Valley Detention Center actually has the best mental health services available, compared to the other SBC jail locations (HDDC, Glen Helen, Central). So West Valley is where it's at! It's Jail... They are running out of food and run out of clothing. They lack strip searches until someone overdoses then they strip search! The COs are terrible at doing the job unless the Sargent is present. Had someone have a really bad seizure the officer called it in then ran out and locked the nurse out so the girl had about 2-3 of them before the nurse could even get in to assist. Another woman was screaming for help and pressing the button but no response we all bam on the doors for her by time they did they walk she choked on her cell and died! HORRIBLE DETENTION CENTER On March 4, 2022, at approximately 3:30 PM, I was transferred to San Bernardino County - West Valley Detention Center via Sheriff's Transportation Bus. I spent approximately two and half hours (2-1/2 hours) in a Holding Cell at Rancho Cucamonga Men's Central Jail - Rancho Cucamoga, Cali. 1 Cell temperature was Ice cold. 2 Blood stains all over the floor, for about 10 feet. 3 Vomit all over the walls, ceiling and cell door. 4 Feces on the floor and ceiling. 5 No toilet paper. 6 No place to sit, only stand. 7 Toilet/sink had vomit and feces all over it, complete unsanitary and unusable. 8 Deputies refused to acknowledge my presence via intercom system or knocking on cell door. 9 Deputies walk around with thick coats on, and I have only a t-shirt and an orange shirt (freezing cold). ~ CONTINUED ~ NEXT CELL - ADSEG At approximately 6:00 PM, I was moved to the SHU Unit for remainder of my time. 1 Cell temperature was Ice cold, hot water only and no mattress or pillow. I was given a blanket. 2 Graffiti all over filthy cell with major gassing from water fountain that sprays water everywhere, about every ten minutes. 3 Trash all over the cell, with about 10 containers of rotten milk on the floor. 4 No spoon or fork to eat food, I had to use a toilet paper roll as a spoon. 5 No toilet paper, even after several request, they never brought me any toilet paper, luckily, some inmate left a rag so you could wipe you blank. 6 Television was all cartoons, and as loud as possible, so loud unable to understand anything. 7 Deputies refused to acknowledge my presence via intercom system or knocking on cell door. 8 Deputies walk around with thick coats on, and I only have an orange pants, shirt and t-shirt only (freezing cold). On March 5, 2022, at approximately 10:00 PM I was released. I had to get a ride back to the High Desert. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! read more

Could rate 0 stars if it was an option. Worst place I've ever been too. This is my first time in jail. I have never been treated with so much inhumane treatment and disregard for human life and respect. I noticed that the females were on a power trip and I have grumbled wowsomeone's on a power Trip. They were prissy females that were the mean girls in highschool. They acted like it too. "Wow I'm on a power trip? Omg" like girl what???? after I asked if I could see the nurse and was denied while I was in booking. I begged to talked to somebody and they said "that's nice" I asked politely again and was told "you can talk to me!!" In a girly condescending voice. I asked if there was anybody else and the other one said the same thing and they started laughing. I was having a mild panic attack which soon turned worse and I was hyperventilating because one of the officers tricked me into a room that did not work where I was left in that room for six to eight hours with no water no food no toilet paper. My intercom got shut off. I had no phone call. It was freezing cold. I want to explain how they tricked me. One of the girls came by and said that she would talk to me in another room but because I was crying she said I was "erratic" and said bc of that she is going to cuff me. I just said okay I understand I mean I was having a completely emotional wreck not understanding what was going on what I was doing there where I was going considering I had to be transferred twice just to get booked and released in the Riverside jail. Well she walked me over to the other room this whole time I'm under the assumption that we will talk but when we get there she tried to shut the door a little bit and I have a bad arm that's been broken and torn of all ligaments and tendons and musclws so I still have issues to this day three years later and limited mobility. Well she yanked my arms through the door slot and I cried out in pain saying "no please stop your hurting me you're hurting me I have a I have a broken arm" she just yanked harder and one of the other girls heard me yelling that I was in pain and came rushing down the hall grabbed my right hand and held it and because I was in so much pain crying I didn't realize I squeezed her hand and she threaten to break my finger while telling me in the nastiest tone to not squeeze her end. I literally just apologized saying I didn't mean to!! I was so fucking scared. I was denied water, sanitation, food, everything you can think of they deprived me of all human rights, a blanket (they lied to me saying they couldn't give you one, but gave me one once I apologizd) one girl confirmed all this when I told her please I need water she said she'd let floor staff know, didn't reurtn for hours and I asked her if I could get water. And she said " uh, no. You were rude." MIND YOU ALL I SAID FOR ALL OF THIS SHIT TO HAPPEN WAS "wow you're on a power trip lady". THIS is the WORST placer I've ever been. I'm typically a very respectful person and never once had a problem with any law officer!! Oh and btw happy ending. All I had to do was say I was sorry and listen to her talk to me like " now that wasn't so hard was it?" As soon as I did that, I had water, a jacket, a blanket, a new cell, INFORMATION on when I was going, food all within 30 minutes. WHAT THE FUCK. This place in regards to how the nursing management tackles the problems here regarding the roles/responsibilities of the nurses is a concern. LVN's here are expected to take on the responsibilities of multiple people. LVN's are expected to pass medication in a Timely manner, but yet the nurse management/nurse supervisors add on additional duties to the LVN's, that include diabetic monitoring, narcotic administration, detoxification meds and their are times that the medication nurses are pulled from their assignment to perform clinic duties. I see why their are constantly new faces coming and going out of this place. This place has more contracted nurse staff than their own county employee staff, who nurse management treats as disposable objects simply because, of nurses speaking up about how dysfunctional this place is ran and how so much favoritism takes place here between contracting staff and county staff. Their are LVN's that are being put in Clinical Coordinater positions that a RN charge nurse should be doing. You have an LVN that has been put in a position to be a nurse educator??? You have bias nurse Supervisors who are one sided vs looking at the whole picture, when issues arise between nursing staff. The nurse management dont care about fixing the concerns of staff. They just like to point fingers. Nurse supervisors a have the audacity to complain when medication nurses are administering morning medication during the afternoon , but yet the Supervisors are placing too MUCH responsibility on the medication nurses. It is common sense that clearly nurse manage refuse too see. And yet the management wonder why staff is always complaining and calling off of work or contractors leave and dont look back. There is no strong nurse management back bone nor foundation in this place. Every body wants to be a cheif, but dont want to sit back and take a look at what they are doing wrong as a nurse supervisor/management team. I'm sure this has happened to literally almost everyone at some point in their lives. I was only 19 at the time and I hadn't taken my medication. The cops arrived and arrested me. Imagine arresting a 19 year old for fighting with their mom?? There's actual murderers, rapists, and pedophiles out there. They always arrest me for stupid mom or sister fights... instead of trying to fix & resolve the situation. I was a First time offender and the cops treated me horrible. They threw apples at me while I was asleep. One of the officers threw my food down the sink. The food during Covid was horrible and always cold. It didn't start getting better until recently. We actually got pizza at one point. We got waffles and sausage for breakfast. We got eggs and potatoes. My second experience was a lot better. Had the most traumatizing experience at the West Valley Detention Center, located at 9500 Etiwanda Ave Rancho Cucamonga, CA. 9.16.2020 - between hours 7:15pm to 9:45pm Lobby window specifically the lady working there by the name of Palmer. I am a bail agent licensed with the state of CA. I have been an agent for five years. Not once, NEVER in five years have I been treated so unprofessionally and rude as I was today at this detention center. Let me begin saying that I was trying to get bail information so I may post bail for my client for over 6 (YES SIX) hours. Starting after 2pm. I looked online and was able to get everything except a updated court date. NOT ONE PHONE NUMBER OF THE NINE NUMBERS I called picked up. Do your job San Bernardino or hire people who can pick up phone. The following numbers didn't pick up for reference: 909.463.2266 909.965.3385 909.463.5197 909.350.2476 909.388.5500 909.350.2476 909.463.4151 909.384.8371 909.350.7740 I after hours of trying drove to the jail with information I retrieved on the detention centers main website. From the second I stepped up to that window the lady at the desk was so rude. Her badge said her name was Palmer. I explained to her that I had tried to get in touch with someone for info for hours and she laughed and said "oh no I just called it works." I said "oh can I have the number" she said "no" then insulted me that as an agent I should have a number to call for information EVEN THOUGH THE 9 I HAD NO ONE SEEMED TO BE ON THE JOB AND CAPABLE OF PICKING UP. And the court date that shows online as well as that the automated system supplied me was incorrect. Such an incompetent system. Palmer was patronizing, unprofessional would roll her eyes at me. I can understand her not giving me the number since apparently its "policy" BUT she made me sit there for two hours as I called number after number PURPOSELY ON SPEAKER so she would see no one picked up. Id see her laughing at me with the other female people behind the glass or sitting their on her cell phone. Other bail agents came and left and she WOULD TALK ABOUT ME TO THEM and say "how come you guys got info she cant seem too" she even told me herself she did this in front of witnesses may I add. I was thinking its personal until the person whose in jail family came she was just as rude to them. Even told them "don't help her" we cant give any information (to both me the agent and the family) and told them call one of these LOCAL bail bonds and pointed to a list on her window. I was LIVID. At one point a line picked up that informed me wasn't an information line and said they cant supply any info or give me a number to call. So I hung up. Palmer then decided to tell my clients wife who was there oh my partner who you hung up was going to transfer you but you hung up on her. I was like ???????????????????? She told me she cant give any info and told me to keep calling whatever I'm calling but in front of my clients oh they were going to transfer me? they can do that but they couldn't give any other sort of help the two hours I sat there. That is unethical, that was rude and on top of that as COVID is at its worst she made me sit there along with 3 family members in a public jail lobby with little disregard to the position and health risks. Palmer was like an overgrown high school bully she got a kick when Id get upset ( I dead ass cried because I couldn't yell at her so from frustration I cried after being on the line for hours and totally ignored in that lobby by Palmer and few other female workers whose badges I didn't see to name. Utter disregard for people. Palmer is the type of officer that makes people not like cops. I've been to West Valley before and NEVER EVER had a bad experience. Always the sweetest workers. I'm not sure what her problem was but at one point when another female officer came to speak to me I said "shes being so rude and refusing to help me what have I done to her" she said "I could care less about you" (like the place has cameras I cant even lie about these things) I finally got in touch with someone over two hours later finally someone picked up the lines and they informed me the defendant will be released with a ticket no need for bail. PALMER when I went back to get my paperwork and I said he will be OR'd she said "oh I know" so she made me sit in that public lobby call after call for over two hours, talked down to my clients family and to OTHER RANDOM PEOPLE about me and the whole time knew none of it was necessary. She couldn't give the number and apparently she couldn't say "hey no need for the bail he will get OR go home" either. So vile. I will call the city, the county until some note is made about her. I don't expect any consequences we all know that is not a thing with police departments, but to have that sort of power trip for someone who pushes paper in a lobby is just horrible. My experience with the West Valley Detention Center may have not be as exciting as LA DJ S. (http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=Axaiyo7Y_Qp1BabteLPfRA) but I do think my experience was a more educational one. Sorry, no arrests, beat downs, or anything like that in this review. This is a straight up review on their customer service. Customer service? Yeah, customer service. Think about it. For every incarcerated individual there is at least one person who needs to speak to him (or her), may it be a lawyer or someone's mother. Well, in order for the lawyer to meet with his client there is that in-between person to get you there. 1. Phone Operator - courteous and informative. 2. Check-in Front Desk - monotone, direct, and gets things done to move faster. 3. Metal Detector - it's like an airport. 4. Anyone on the speaker - courteous 5. If you need to "put money in the books" - I joked with the lady behind this counter about how I received a letter where "are" was spelled as "r" and how difficult it must be to add two more letters. Now, I do not hope that you one day have to visit someone in jail, but the process is pretty much the same between counties. All you need is time and patience and asking the right questions. At this particular location, you'll be dealing with young adults. Upon my visit there were young adults checking people in, asking for IDs, and asking people to change into more appropriate clothes. Regardless of bad attitudes coming from these visitors, those behind the desk are quite calm. Upon entering the metal detector, you'll have a young greeter telling you where to go and what arrows to follow. Very polite. Although service is quite monotone and nice, there is someone to make sure you don't get out of hand - complete with a shotgun and in officer uniform. Overall, whether you are speaking through one of these individuals through a phone, speaker, or glass window, I think the service was addressed properly and mannerly. If I had a question, it was calmly answered, although a part of me knew they are asked the same question often. Clean facility, lines are coordinated, signs are everywhere. And, if yo observe and ask the person sitting next to you if they knew certain information about the process that will help you along the way. I haven't experienced any better, nor am I a fan of visiting county jails, but for someone like myself who does not intimidate so easily in environments like this, by the looks of things it's operated A-OK. read more

I must say I'm glad I've never been detained here (or anywhere for that matter); however, I have had a few family members detained here. As a result of their detention, I've had to stop by and deposit money into their prison accounts so they can purchase comforts of the outside world: cupcakes, chips, cigarettes, etc. They make it pretty easy to do so. You just drive up to the security station and tell them what you're there to do. You'll be given instructions to your destinations and park once you reach it. You'll walk in an see a giant kiosk/ATM-looking machine. Follow the instructions on the screen to deposit monies for your loved one (or hated one which you feel obligated to give money for some reason - hey, we've all got family issues, right?), and you're done! On occasion, you'll see jailhouse wedding ceremonies performed (these are the majority of the photos on this Yelp page). True love knows no restrictions..... I'd go five stars but parking is an issue here - there isn't enough for the amount of visitors. read more

NOT A TYPO ) trying to make a call to speak and get imformation for an inmate, never got a hold of anyone thru their phone line, and then after bail was posted it takes this place way to long to process paperwork. The West Valley Detention Center may seem like a nice place to book a room, but trust me, it's not! The turn-down service is terrible. The bellhops start spreading rumors about everyone. Fellow guests aren't even a problem, it's the wait-staff! They did offer free shuttle service, which was nice, but only to a select few destinations and it all seems to be on their own schedule. Whatever they decide for the day! I guess you wouldn't mind if you like surprises, but I, for one, would rather choose my destination. The room service food feels like a brick. Smells like it too. I don't know how this could possibly meet the minimum standards of this service industry. And that's when they feed you. Sometimes, they don't even give you food at all and tell you something like, "Oh well, deal with it." How rude! I'm not sure how they stay in business, to be honest. The mattress was cut open and wet. Why? Shouldn't they be required to have fresh mattresses and bedding? Especially if it's ripped open like that! What an awful hotel! They also hold or lose mail a lot. There are letters that I've sent out to my beloved that took over a month to get there and still others that never showed up at all. And vice-versa! There are letters that I was sent and they never showed up either! Isn't messing with the mail a Federal Crime? These people should be brought up with charges! But I have a feeling they know all the judges and lawyers anyway so I doubt that they'd face any charges even if they were found guilty. Plus, they apparently have a really good union where they could get away with murder, quite literally. A wholly unfair situation! I would rate this hotel a zero if I could but I'm giving them one star just because Yelp requires it. The free shuttle service WAS nice, if limited. But I still cannot recommend coming here! I recently stayed at West Valley Detention Center, the concierge staff was unfriendly upon entering intake but seemed to be fair after following the yellow line. I was later assisted by bellhops and porters to my room in Unit 11, along with several other guests. Once I arrived to my spacious room in Unit 11 ,Deputy Palacios the Unit housekeeper , gave me a tour of the room. He was very friendly and offered me extra toilet paper due to my extended stay. I met a neighboring guest James Hernandez, who talked low about the facility but contradicted my actual experience. I'm giving 3 stars it would be 5 but since the concierge offered me chicken wings I give 3 stars read more

This jail slapped. I have been arrested 8 times for aggravated assault, battery, possession of narcotics, a drive by shooting, among other things. By far the best prison experience I have had. When I dropped the soap, they actually just handed it to me instead of what they normally do (although I would've been fine with either ;)). Food was good and the cells were clean. Would recommend this place if you get caught for a crime. read more

Sheriff Dominguez was EXTREMELY unprofessional she sat on her phone the whole time and even used her work computer to log on to Facebook... every time I asked a question I was answered like I was stupid. I have not been to many jails. This one was cool climate. I didn't feel the summer day. Only had 30 min to be out the cell and make calls or shower.I received 3 meals a day and milk.1 out of 3 meals where edible. I didn't receive a mattress because they ran out. Did receive plenty or tp and pads. I didn't like the fact that I had 400+ in cash going in and when released I received 20$ and 374 on a check they taxed me for having $. I did notice if you go in missing shoes they might be able to supply you with some on your way out. read more

What a bunch of pals here! The deputies were so nice and caring They fed me 3x a day (sometimes a snack), gave me a designer mattress, & helped me with my mental health by teaching me meditation. If you ever need a kind ear to listen to you scream all's you gotta do is throw a brick through your neighbors back sliding door glass and these amazing lovely people will come pick you up. The only down side is Satan whispering in your ears the whole time and telling your bunk mates to murder you. Other than that 4 out of 5 stars best 8 months of my life! I must say that "Chef Flaco" really knows his way around a kitchen. Anyone who came make "mystery meat" taste like Mahi Mahi deserves kudos! The presentation of my meal was superb. The orange color of the tray complemented the green hue of the main course. And the delightful odor of musky mushroom really made the soft apple desert a pure delight! The servers were well mannered, and smartly dressed. And the floor show was to die for!! Such realisim!! The blood actually looked real, and the acting was spot on... I have never seen anyone hold their breath over 15 minutes, but this guy did! BRAVO! My stateroom was one of those "double occupancy" affairs. Bobo was really friendly, and I think I made a new friend... just another happy San Bernardino resident. Facilities were clean. Most of the employees courteous. But according to my relative that was there, they were fed maggots in the food during the months of May and June, 2013. i.e. it happened more than once. There's supposedly a class action lawsuit I'm trying to find out about. Yes, it's a jail, I didn't expect anything. The kind people there were refreshing. The poops, poopy as anywhere else. For anyone going to see a loved one... bring 75 cents in quarters for a locker. I'm sure it's the same in most jails but all you can take in to visit is an ID and one key. That's either your car key or a locker key. Even sunglasses are not allowed and certainly no cell phones. Best advice... don't commit any crimes! read more

THE WORST EXPERIENCE!!! Me and my mom went to WVDC to ask for more info about my brother. My mom does not speak English therefore it was very difficult to speak for herself I translated everything she told me. The women at the window in the main entrance at the administration kept rolling her eyes bc my mom was frustrated and kept asking reasonable questions. Then we asked how we could make a visitation appointment since it was my first time experiencing something like this. I was clueless didn't know what exactly I should be asking nor how to work their website. The website was very difficult for me. Therefore I asked for help in the administration in the "Visit Check-in" window. Guy at the window came out and asked what I needed I asked on more details on how visitations work. Didn't answer my question he then pointed at the other window. Lady at the window told me to go back to the "visit check-in". And so I did go back I asked if he spoke Spanish HIS RESPONSE WAS " I don't understand your language" IN A RUDE TONE. And so I went outside and started breaking down out of frustration. IF YOU WORK AT WVDC PLEASE HELP PEOPLE/FAMILIES AND INFORM THEM HOW THINGS WORK !!!! (Especially if they are confused and it's their first time experiencing something like this) ME AND MY FAMILY WERE DESPERATE FOR MORE DETAILS AND CLUELESS WITH NO HELP :((( !!!!! read more

Recently went through the CCW class and shooting experience. The Deputies were extremely well informed, answered all of the questions and made the classroom section very informative. The Range personnel were strict and professional, well knowledgeable and worked with the shooters instead of criticizing them. The entire process was extremely efficient and I felt welcomed there from the minute I arrived. Sherriff McMahon even came to talk to the group A true example of what public service is about. read more

I've worked with several other jails in the past and am happy to say that the Jailers/Clerks at this location have always been a pleasure to work with. It takes a lot of patience to work in a jail as the clientele is almost ALWAYS under stress. Props to all employees! read more

Well I decided to write a review of this rather large yet over booked "resort". I haven't stayed at this place in over a year, because frankly I didn't care for the service, food or lodgings. First off the resort insists you wear orange with orange plastic sandals. Frankly I hate anything flip flop like and worse only God knows how many guests wore them before you get to. Check in is frankly a mess and time consuming. They take all of your property away because they want you to use their amenities and enjoy all they don't have to offer without the joy of being an individual. So after they take your stuff away they have you wait around with other guests until your rooms are ready. But don't dispare, they have fun activities to fill your time. There is the finger printing and photo shoot booth. Always great fun. Then if you enjoy the company of murders, drunks, crazy people or just the smell of urine and unclean people, you my friends are in for a treat! Well when guest services is ready for you they take you and your new friends to the next activity of your stay. Now is the time to trade in your non resort wear for what I can only describe as the finest in nasty wear in vibrant orange you will find anywhere. And as an added bonus they throw in underwear that has been on more asses then you could ever imagine at no extra cost. So now you have your resort wear in hand and now you step over to what I would imagine is the finest locker room area the county has to offer to change out of your basic street rags. Now is your chance to be naked and free in front of above mentioned murders etc. After this leg of your stay you will be escorted to your awesome new room. It can be dorm style or you can possibly have just a few cellies, oops I meant fellow resort guests. So then there is the food, I say food but I don't mean it. So I have to wrap this up by saying the staff is horrible, forget room service, the "food" is served cold and nasty. Activities include sitting around doing nothing, walking in circles, avoiding being killed, naps, discussing criminal law with fellow resort guests and avoiding pissing off the staff. My recommendation, just don't go here. Behave yourself and possibly stay at Motel 6, they will leave the light on and you know when you get to leave.. read more
