I was waiting for the c3 bus when the bus driver completely ignored me and drove by. Making me late to work. This was at the San Pablo and Shamrock stop. And when I called there was 3 people in front of me supposedly. Had me wait on hold for 10 minutes when it finally said I was next in like. Until no one picked up and the machine said it was full, and hung up on its own. Nice to see how west cat treats its community. read more

The good: The Westcat JPX bus is comfortable, clean, and its route is convenient for BART commuters. The BAD: it's become frustratingly unreliable. For example, on my recent experience, it was supposed to arrive at the Richmond Transit Parkway at 12:18, so I've been waiting since 12:10, but it didn't show up until 1:06! What's the use of bus schedules if they're going to be more than 30-45 minutes late? Take note, there was no traffic on the freeway, so there was no reason to be late unless one of their buses broke down. At the very least, they should replace it with another bus or send one of those text alerts they always send for traffic delays, instead of leaving customers waiting for so long. Westcat clearly doesn't care about its customers; if they did, this wouldn't happen so often. Unfortunately, it's becoming increasingly common. If Uber weren't so expensive, I would take that more often. Ugh. If time is not a concern, Westcat is a great connection to BART. But if your time is important, be warned: they can be very unreliable. read more

let's start off by saying I had a pleasant ride with the first driver that picked me and my disabled client up. but when it was time to return the second driver was very nice and friendly but when he bus issues he called it in like he supposed to, but when the supervisor arrived he was very rude to Fernando i just couldn't believe why was he so rude and mad about haveing to see what was the problem. that's your job as a supervisor right? So why take on the responsibility of a supervisor and treat people that why is it a power trip? And he name was Josh African-American he had on a white shirt, black slacks. WestCAT administration needs to respond more nimbly to their riders. Some drivers seem to delight in taunting riders by pulling away from the berth just within feet of the bus door. A few months ago, I decided to start my commute to South City from the 6:30 Lynx bus to the 6:50 Lynx bus because there were already 30 people in line about 8 min. before the bus was due to arrive. Daily, the 6:50 line has been growing from 12 to 30 about 8 min. before the bus arrived. There were also increasing numbers of people standing on the bus for the 1 hr. drive into San Francisco. Today, there were about 50 people in line and the bus was full up with people standing in the aisle when it finally pulled out. It wasn't as if the bus wasn'0t already partially full when it arrived. The administration could have used the double-decker buses they the had deployed during the pandemic, especially with the surging ridership over the course of months. It's not as if the increased ridership couldn't help offset the increased operating costs of the double-decker buses, which could be more effectively deployed. read more

WestCAT - The bus stop in Salesforce Transit Center - Public Transportation Near Me - Pinole, California

The Lynx has been becoming more and more unreliable. I understand in the evening they may run late because of traffic, but in the morning there is no excuse. I tend to take the 6:32AM bus, which happens to be the driver's first trip of the day. That means there should be no excuse why the bus comes 10 sometimes 15 minutes late. When that happens, I become late for work and often have to spend $20 on an Uber once I get to SF just so I'm only 5 minutes late VS 20 minutes late taking public transit. The schedule says the bus leaves at 6:32AM not 6:40AM and definitely not 6:50AM (which happened on Thursday). Bus drivers are supposed to be punctual. If the driver is unable to be, they should not be working as a driver. I also had the most miserable bus ride of my life Wednesday night going back to Hercules from SF. The driver was driving insanely slow for no reason. I'm not even exaggerating when I say she was driving 30 MPH on sections of the bridge and freeway that was open and had nobody in front of her. Cars kept speeding and cutting her off which seems insanely unsafe. She also got out of the carpool lane as soon as we reached Hilltop and moved all the way over to the number four lane, which happened to be the slowest lane at the time. Because of that, it took an additional 15 minutes to get home. I would also like to complain how half the evening LYNX drivers do not take the detour off the bridge to avoid the backup at the maze getting onto 580. By not taking the detour it often adds 20-30 minutes to the trip home. One thing WestCat could improve on is sending text alerts in the morning if driver's leave their lot late. I cannot afford to be late for work nor can I afford having to pay for a $20 Uber so I'm not more than 10 minutes late. I think they also should add bus live tracking so you can see exactly where your bus is at. There is a JX bus that leaves at 6:35AM, so if the 6:32AM LYNX is going to be 10+ minutes late, I would love to know so I can take BART instead. read more

It's really getting too much when buses don't arrive or leave on time as to what is printed on the published schedule. The 330 bus from SF is to arrive the I80/Willow @ 410. It arrived at 440. It suppose to be the 500 pm bus that leaves SF as per the schedule on the website But no, it drove back to HTC, and took another drive again to I80, Victoria and to Biorad and Finally to the freeway to SF at 5:08pm. What time will I get to SF now!! Just this last Wednesday the 4pm bus to leave SF didn't arrive till 417. 3 buses came almost 5 minutes apart: a training bus, the 4pm bus and the 420 bus!!! What's up with that? Traffic, again! Customer Service - it's great to hear on the bus the connection between drivers and the office but that's not extended to the customers who ride, wait and call!. You call and always you are in a queue then it's answered and you get put on hold several times before you can speak to someone! Then, they can't give you the information where the bus, it arrival and why late. Blaming on Traffic is not always the answer! Seems to be Poor scheduling management, lack of drivers I think is the reason but who knows. This comment is not venting but you should know how we feel about the service!!! How else? I used this once when I had to take my car to Crockett to get it serviced. IT wasn't bad. The service didn't run as often as AC transit, says it will, but it came and I got from point A to B. From Crockett back to El Cerrito and home to Richmond. It was a nice ride and while I don't want to take it again, my car breaking down was the only reason I went to Crockett, if I had to take it again, I would be upset. read more

The Westcat call service is honestly some of the worst I've seen. Called the Route Information line twice today and the first time they answered and hung up immediately. The second time, I expressed my concern and they instantly brushed it over. Very lousy. Route engineers are terible at route planning in the chance that routes need to be adjusted. Chauffeurs are rude and will close doors in your face and drive off. FOR THE LYNX BUS TO SF: The fare raises to $5 effective October 1st. Also they got these new huge buses! They have more seating area which is a plus. So when i took a temp job in Hercules i was a little worried about the commute. i hate driving across the bay bridge or just commuting in general when driving is involved. The WestCAT Lynx is so much better than driving, especially on bad traffic days or when i am exhausted and don't want to be stressed out by traffic. In the morning it takes only 30 minutes from the transbay terminal to Hercules and afternoons take about 45-50 minutes with that nasty bay bridge traffic. It helps me avoid road rage, cost just $5 a ride and has free Wifi for my iphone addiction, whats not to like. read more

What's the point of having a schedule? Bus is always late on the way home. I understand there is traffic, but here I am 2 days in a row waiting 30+ minutes for the bus. It's infuriating and so far I haven't seen a bus on schedule. It's either 10 minutes early or 30 minutes late. I am so down with the WestCAT Lynx bus. If you ever need to get out to Hercules (because it's so happening) from SF, this is by far the fastest, cheapest way to get there. It's four bucks and it takes about 25-30 minutes to get either way in the mornings and slightly longer in the evenings. They do tend to run a little late on the San Francisco side because they only have 30 minutes to get all they way over here from Hercules, but even if they are 20 minutes late, it's still faster than the BART/bus alternative. read more

Good ol' WestCAT. Brings back high school memories. I still ride them - but on the JX and Lynx routes. It's cheaper than driving to BART or taking the J/JX/JPX to BART if you need to get into SF. They tend to run a little late, but that's the Bay Bridge. They have free WiFi on the Lynx buses too - so bring your laptop or WiFi enabled phone and Yelp/MySpace/Facebook or blog your way into SF or Hercules. Their local lines are OK, but suffer from on-time issues, but even WestCAT has a better on-time record than MUNI(if only those guys at MUNI's dispatch would put down the Nelly Furtado and help the bus drivers/train operators do their job...), but still the 19 is NEVER on time. read more

This is a great ride to and from the City. The bus winds through the streets in Hercules and then picks up at the Park and Ride. In the mornings, it is a nice quick ride right into the 1st and Mission Bus Terminal. The evenings are a little slower, but just as convenient. The benefit to the environment, not to mention the savings and stress free commute, make this one of the best values on the East Bay commute. read more

This last time, I called the office, and the operator couldn't even locate the bus on its route. "Abducted by aliens?" She laughed. I was mad because this bus service does not take the Clipper card, and it is way way way into the supposedly "uniform service" period of the Clipper card. Because then you always have to change payment formats at the last moment, and I wish they would stick to one issue or the other, either the cash and transfers issue or the one card for everything issue. Also, though the bus is $1 per ride, I wish that there was more regular Contra Costa County bus service, though it is "Westcat" it doesn't really serve West Richmond, for example. However I had admired the logo from afar before, that is a nice eyeless kitty logo on the buses. read more

I wish I could give no stars!! Worst service ever! I attempted to try the Lynx bus to get to SF since I live in Hercules and thought It would be a faster option for me. Big mistake!! After 3 days of the most slow service ever, I am going back to my old routine! The bus is scheduled to arrive at 8:00 am on Willow Avenue and is consistently late by 10+ minutes. Then, instead of the bus operator leaving immediately after all of the passengers have loaded, he waits another 5 minutes to get the stragglers who are more than likely planning on getting the 8:20 bus, which by the time we actually leave it is 8:20! The fact that the bus operator is late and then further delays passengers who may have a crazy boss who hates when they are late is just poor service. I get that you don't want to leave someone running for the bus, but this operator waits for people across the street in the parking lot getting out of their cars! This is unacceptable!
