I really don't want to write a review on this place. It's always always always busy and they always make time for me somehow. I feel like by writing an honest review they are going to be slammed with new business and I'm not going to take my usual baby into the shop to get its tune-up. But... they deserve some great credit. It's East Van.. and that being my neighborhood, it usually means cheap. However, when it comes to my car... nothing is cheap. I was so lucky to be recommended this place, because my car has already had a few hiccups and they were right there to solve the problem for me. Somehow this owner has the handle on all the right parts at a great price, when I was paying 2-3 times more in Los Angeles for the same stuff. Labor prices are reasonable and they get the job done quickly. Most of all, they know their stuff, from American to German cars, they've done it all. The owner also spent time working on racecars. The real ones, not that Lamb you have in your garage, which is not a real race car. They also rebuild engines (I saw a Cayenne here the other day they were rebuilding, and a really old Benz), should you need that service. So I'm out with my secret. You can thank me later. Soooo my brakes were grinding. Squealing, grinding, howling at the moon. I took my little Echo in to a few different shops, where I was informed that not one thing was wrong with my brakes. In fact, they were at 90% - not even close to needing new pads or anything. I am a busy bee so I like to keep moving, and I'm told by multiple "experts" that my brakes are not broken, I then believe that they're fine enough for me to drive on, regardless of their endless complaining. So they whined along, hoping in their little hearts that Raffi would find them. I was recommended to Westcoast Autosport by two different people who don't know each-other, both with sparkles in their eyes and a bit of possessive glint. I felt like they were telling me a secret - giving me a peek at a hidden gem just for us - and now I'm totally blowing it because I feel the need to howl at the moon about how great this place is. Not only did they diagnose my brakes correctly and fix them, they probably saved some lives too, as my car was an utter hazard. Yup, embarrassingly, my tires were so darn bald that I was effing up my anti-lock system by basically engaging it at all times. Because I learned to drive in 10 feet of snow, this forever-sliding did not phase me, and I was happily driving around a time bomb. They found a few other handy things to fix too, and although I was excited to drive my newly safe vehicle, I was nervous, as usual, for the dreaded mechanic bill... Based on my previous lady-driven experience, everything at a mechanic shop costs roughly 4x what I expect it to. I girded my loins, and lo - it all seemed rather reasonable, made sense and was not terrifying. Raffi broke it down and explained everything very well, and he didn't even make me feel like an idiot who was driving around a hazard, even though I was. This is a very busy shop, so I'm pretty sure if they take your car they are doing you a huge favour. For your sake (and the open road's), I hope they do! read more

For 4 years I've been dealing with Mini Yaletown for all my services, car was under warranty so might as well take it there. During this time there have been a few long standing issues with my car that never really were dealt with properly, I would take it in, they would say it was fixed when in fact it wasn't. This process was repeated several times. So now my warranty is up, it's time to see other people now that my check engine light is on. Sorry Mini, it's not you - it's me. I first called Art's Automotive and asked if he could help me as this place was well reviewed. Art said he's booked up and he doesn't do a lot of work on mini's, however he recommended Rafi at Westcoast Autosport. It's one thing to have a friend recommend a mechanic, but a mechanic referring work is another thing all together - westcoast autosport must be the real deal. So I book the mini in and they took a look at it, my poor car needed a new thermostat and housing which I expected. What I didn't expect was how poorly my car was treated by mini! Things like loose and missing bolts for example, they even asked me "Are you sure you only took your car to mini?" thinking that I just hired some random person on the street to work on my car for free. Even they were shocked at the poor quality coming from a dealership. Anyway I got the car back, good as new and the price I paid for this was much more reasonable than what I would have had to pay at Mini and I can easily say the quality of work was excellent. But it doesn't end here, happy with my service on the mini I decide to bring my VW in for a service, just needed an oil change. Well they changed the oil and noticed there was a couple of screws in the tires, they pulled the screws and plugged the holes no charge at all. My bill was much lower than what I expect from Volkswagen. So yeah, these guys are awesome, now they take care of all servicing of my cars from now on. read more

I stumbled into this hidden gem after a few other mechanics recommended it. I needed my carburetor tuned on my old 75 Chevy Nova and most other places do not know how to do it. I had been to quite a few different mechanics in the last 15 years and I was quite jaded. After going to West Coast Autosport I have finally found a mechanic that I can trust. This guy can fix just about any type of car and his garage is well equipped. I have no idea how he does it, but the mechanic always seem to be able to take a "quick look" if needed. I always see nice cars at his garage and some engines that were being fully rebuilt. Price is very reasonable, and most important the business is 100% honest. There is no BS or drama and your car always gets fixed right. I was like the previous poster and tried to selfishly hide this garage from friends and even family, but the right thing to do is share the secret. read more

I have known Raffi for more than 4 years and I only had a great service. I agree with the other ratings that we shouldn't recommend this garage to anyone because Raffi's team is already super busy but we can't help it. When you have a real mechanic guy (who worked in Formula 1) with skill, knowledge and customer service, you know that you find a god place. But when the price of labour is right and that they will try to find cheaper parts to fix your car, you know that it is a great place. read more

For anyone who's moved to BC and has had to transfer car insurance, you know what a pain in the butt this task is... THANKFULLY, I found a review on this place, as Canadian Tire and many other mechanic shops didn't have time to help me. "Leave you car here for the weekend and we'll try to get to it". No thank you. I called to get an 'Out of Province Inspection' on my car. Raffi answered the phone, he was super nice and friendly! He said 'Sure, bring it in tomorrow morning and I'll have it done in a few hours!'. AMAZING. He even offered to drive me to work and pick me up. Given, I do work fairly close by. but still! I dropped my car off the following morning and picked it up after work, all done! He even gave me a great price, way less expensive than most places. Had I known about this place a few weeks ago, I would have much rather had my breaks fixed by then. Probably wouldn't have cost an arm and a leg. Did I mention, they were voted 'Best Mechanic shop' in Vancouver? The friendly service, knowledge and great prices are why. Raffi also gave me a card for his friend Melissa, who does car insurance! SO helpful!! I wish i could stand on top of Grouse Mountain and yell 'I LOVE WESTCOAST AUTOSPORT!!!!'... well, maybe I will. read more

Please do not bring you car to this place! bad customer service! and they do not allow you to use the warranty. a short time ago I brought my car to this place because the steering wheel was blocked when I was going to park, they told me it was the belt, however shortly after the steering wheel began to fail again, I went back to the place and they did not want Fix it again, being that it was thei mistake because if the problem had been the belt as they said, the belt usually lasts for years, I took the receipt, to be able to use my warranty, but as I mentioned before they did not want to fix the car and even one of them got very aggressive telling me that I was a scammer, an arrogant fucking and a rude. read more

I was out of town for 3 months this summer and my car sat waiting for me at a friend's place. I knew that I was going to need some brake work and a few other items taken care of before I returned and so, when my friends let me know they were having a problem starting the vehicle, I had it towed to Raffi. (I knew about him because he had helped with a small emergency situation earlier in the year). Raffi reassured me the car would be safe until I returned to the city and that he would be able to do the repairs. The plan was for me to come directly to the shop from the airport - and after being away for so long I was really looking forward to having wheels again. Raffi insisted that even though the shop was closed that day, I would be able to pick the vehicle up as planned Long story short - it came down to the final minutes. A friend drove me over to the shop at 4:55 and it was indeed closed with no sign of the owner. That horrible sinking feeling when you realize you have no power over a situation - I was already going over in my mind just how I was going to get around for the next two days without a vehicle. And suddenly from around the corner comes some guy on his motorcycle and sure enough it was Raffi. The car had been kept safe, the work done was exactly what I had asked for and the bill was less than I had expected. Never felt more satisfied with a mechanic's shop or more impressed with customer service. Just a pleasurable experience all round. Awesome experience. My 1995 4runner was all of a sudden super rumbly, shaky, felt like it was going to die. The check engine light came on when I drove it in. I went to his shop strictly based off of peoples reviews here, and I was not disappointed. I have a few horror stories at other places (ie. being told they can check my brakes for me and then charging me $75 for it at Soares auto after declining his $1000 quote. that guy is a joke) So! I dropped my truck off, within 2 days they took apart my engine to clean it and source a leak. Fixed it all up, did a tuneup, and told me it was $448. My mouth dropped cause I was expecting something crazy! He was like (not an actual quote, just a summary) "Yeah, normally it would be more to take everything apart but because we had to anyway for xy, we two bird one stoned it." That right there blew my mind. He was so honest and didn't take advantage of me. AND THEN, I didn't have the exact cash to pay him, so I gave him $460. He gave me the $10 back and said "pfftt, no, keep it. don't worry about it" Seriously in love with this guys honesty and will be bringing back my cars to him. Kinda sad my car has been running smooth because I want to give him my business. It's been a year since I've been there and my car has been fine. Will be getting a new exhaust system done here, though. read more

Normally I bring my vehicles to Art's Automotive, but last October, when I needed some fabrication work done on a van and trailer that Art wasn't able to do, he recommended his buddy at Westcoast Autosport. Raffi and his crew were spot on professional in what turned out to be a very small amount of turnaround time that I needed. I was super impressed with the efficiency they displayed given the level of custom fabrication I ended up needing. They even worked past regular work hours to get the job done. I have an older 1993 Volkswagon Euro van and recently changed repair shops. Westcoast Autosport is the best repair shop I have ever been to. They improved my gas mileage by roughly 15%. My shabby old van feels brand new. I'm driving up hills with a noticeable difference. This is a shop like no other I've been to, as they play classical music and have painted floors without oil stains. The cleanliness of the shop made it feel like car surgery. Its definitely a different vibe. I also really enjoyed the frankness of the owner. He speaks to you directly. Its the opposite of corporate speak. I was told by my mechanic to sell my car, I didn't want to hear that because my car ran well and I had had high hopes. So I drove by Loyale and asked if someone could look at my car any time soon because it was stalling and I thought I would never make it home. They took my car work on it on the spot and got me home. I returned for a follow up after i washed my car with the gas cap off. They found many other problems and despite the fact I wanted my car back they were determine to fix my car. They've had my car for two weeks and at least 12hrs labour later and at a fee of less than $300. He is determine to give me a absolute working vehicle. this guy is a jerk off. we brought our car into his shop to do a procedure that would normally take 3 hours to do. he ended keeping the car for nearly 2 weeks. i dont think he even looked at the car for the first week. then, when we finally got the car back he didnt bleed the brake line properly or align the car properly. now we have to pay someone else to fix his mistake because we'll probably never get our car back if we go back to him. read more

I was looking for a mechanic to fix my windshield wipers since Seattle is calling for rain this weekend. I needed to be prepared for my trip to see Devo this weekend and of course a safe travel back home. I found this shop based on the positive yelp reviews (thanks guys) and made it all the way here to get some work done. Even though the situation was worse than I had thought but still manageable, Raffi the owner, was really nice, explained everything and was extremely customer service focused which is very rare with auto mechanic shops. Normally when it comes to shop experiences I am always on my guard. This is the first time in which I trusted a shop guy who was 100% honest with me. He didn't rip me off and the price for the service was very fair. I mentioned Yelp to Raffi and he never heard of the site which proves that he is a genuine dude just trying to be fair and right by his customers and allowing them to speak positively behind his back. If I need anything for my car again, I will be hitting him up for sure. I have also posted this on FB as a favorite in case anyone else was thinking of getting any work done. read more

These guys got me out of a total jam when my car battery kept dying in the middle of rush hour...anyway, I was super lucky they took my car in after hours. The work they ended up having to do was minimal, but their service was great and next time I have more serious problems, they will definitely be my go-to! I feel like people are always weary of getting overcharged for stuff if they don't know cars that well, but I wouldn't worry about that happening with these guys at all! They are good peeps.
