I recently brought my 1977 Dodge Tradesman van into this shop for an oil change and an overall inspection before I embarked on a road trip through B.C. into the Kootaney mountains. When I picked up my vehicle, I was told that everything was fine but an adjustment was made to my brakes. I do not know the full extent of what was done, but I should mention that these were brand new brakes with less than 2000 km of driving on them, and I have never had any issues since replacing them a couple of years ago. They also didn't fix the one issue I did highlight to them b/c they didn't have the "right tools" to work on such an old vehicle. In hindsight, this should have been a red flag and I should have taken my vehicle to another mechanic for a second opinion. Well, I left on my road trip 2 days ago and yesterday morning I was coming into Creston, B.C., which if anyone knows is a very high mountain pass and a very steep descent into the valley. I noticed my brakes coming down the mountain were not working very well, but thankfully the problem didn't fully set in until I was nearing the bottom of the descent. Long story short, my brand new brakes completely failed and at 80 km/h I was unable to stop my vehicle. The emergency brake didn't work either, but thankfully I was able turn onto a side road which nearly tipped the vehicle at the speed I was going. My van had so much momentum that I continued to move and before I entered another turn I made the decision to throw my van into park at 60 km/h. This stopped the vehicle, but I can't imagine was good for the transmission. My van was now stopped, but I couldn't even reverse because when it was in gear I had no brakes to stop it from moving. There was then a loud explosion, which was my tire that exploded due to the heat from the brakes. This then started a fire in the wheel well of my vehicle, and with a van carrying 2 full propane tanks you can imagine how panicked of a situation this was. Happy and fortunate to say that I was able to extinguish the fire with a 5 Gallon jug of water. So here I am today in Creston, BC without an operable vehicle, and a town without an open mechanic until Tuesday. Needless to say my end of summer vacation has been ruined, but I also realize how much worse this situation could have ended up. To the Owner of ABC Tireland and Main Auto Centre, I will be considering litigation and exposure to media outlets in order to ensure that this situation is rectified. Can't speak for others, but I just dropped by ABC first thing in the a.m. to get a puncture repair. Minutes earlier, the Mr. Lube down the street said they'd do it for $95, which is ridiculous. So I opted for the experts, who quickly fixed the flat then replaced the temporary spare, which I had put on a night earlier, with the repaired tire. And it was $35..... Fantastic experience. Highly recommend these guys. read more

If you've read any of my threads/reviews about vehicle maintenance, you know that in the past I've not had the best service. I try to believe that it's par for the course and has absolutely nothing to do with my gender. After doing some "tire" research, I found this place. Awesome service. I was charged $160 a piece + tax for four new "all weather" (not to be confused with all season) tires, just in time for the snowfall. While that might seem like a lot, it was less than Kal Tire. It was also the same as what I found online. Maybe more than Costco, or what one would find in the US, but I didn't have any time for that! The brothers were friendly and seem to really know their stuff! They told me that they had many female clients. I have no reason to rate them any less than five stars at this point, especially since they booked me in on such short notice and around my work schedule, too. Today I am driving with much greater ease. The true test will be after the next great snowfall! read more

I've had a few great experiences here with little problems, but my most recent experience screams of incompetence. About a year ago I had an issue with my Subaru 2004 WRX and the car was immobilized and smoking on the side of the road. I towed it to ABC, as they are 1 block from my house, and was told by gentleman there that the problem was most definitely my head-gasket, and I should consider scrapping the car as it was going to be extremely expensive to repair. Something didn't smell right to me, so I had the car moved to Kon Auto. A simple $300 repair and the pipe that was burst (all be it an unusual one to go) was replaced and I was on my way. read more

Came in here today to get some new tires on my truck. I have came here a couple times before because they always have the cheapest price for tires. Although Just like last time I brought my truck in to get tires there always seems to be something else wrong with my truck when they check it out. So this time I had my truck checked out by my own mechanic (specifically my front brakes) before I went in to get my front tires replaced. My mechanic who is very honest told me they had plenty of pads left on them. So I went in to Abc Tire land to get my new tires put on. Low and behold they said "hey looks like you need new front brakes". Surprise surprise. So I told them that I had them just checked. The guy goes back and checks again and says "oh ya. Your right l,they are fine". Hmmmmmm very shady place when it comes to any mechanical issues. I'm going to give them 2 stars and not 1 simply due to the fact that yes they gave me a good deal on tires. Also because they were fast and got me in right away. Other than that was not impressed with their dishonest practice. It's damn near impossible to find an honest mechanic in this town!! Long story short. Go here for tires and tires only. I was very put off by this. Classic shady mechanic spot. Don't listen to what they say go somewhere else. I actually won't be coming back for tires even after this BS. read more

I had a screw in my tire and needed to get to work this morning. My usual tire shop was closed so I ended up at ABC Tire. Safwan saved me! Even though they were busy he understood my desperation and squeezed my car in for repairs so I could continue on my way to work. The tech (Jay) did a great job and the price was reasonable!! I got my car fully services here and got 4 new tires put on. 30 minutes after I got them installed my TPMS sensor warning light came on. I contacted them and they said they were closing and weren't willing to stay open for me to come back in. I mentioned I had to leave town the next day but they didn't care. I took the car in to Canadian Tire and they said a sensor had been replaced but not programmed back to the memory of the car. They could tell because one sensor didn't match any in memory and one sensor in memory was unresponsive (i.e. not in any of the wheels). My guess is they damaged a sensor during replacement, didn't tell me about it and replaced it, but didn't sync it back up to the memory. Oops. read more

We have 2 cars. When Tireland up the street closed I started coming here. I only get our tires swapped, spring and fall but they treat me like I am a big spending long time customer. Very respectful and good to deal with. 4 is the best I give. Hardly nobody gets a 5 from me. read more

When you get a quote from them for your tires and it seems really good ask if it includes cost of labor, taxes, and the levy fee so you know how much it will really cost. Next time I think I will go back to Grandview tire where they told me all of these expenses up front. read more

Dealing with these guys was a pretty miserable experience. Dropped my car off to have my summer tires put on. Got a call 20 minutes later telling me that my brake pads are at 10% and my car was not safe to drive and offering to do them for $500. Called my dealer and they let me bring it in and they checked: brakes were at 25% and not a concern. This was either a flagrant attempt to rip me off or a case of extreme incompetence. Either way, I won't be back- and neither should you. To add insult to injury, I got a call from them at 4:05pm saying they were closed and could I hurry to pick up my car. I hustled over there to find the closing time posted as 4:30pm on the door. When I asked, I was told that the 'closing time depends on the number of people they get'. Hmm... read more

Having an older vehicle it has been really difficult to find a good mechanic. I stumbled across ABC Auto based on their reviews on "yelp". Well the positive reviews are correct. These guys did my car inspection and breaks at half the price of anywhere else. They have a great team and really listened to my concerns and addressed everything to my complete satisfaction. It looks like they have new owners now and these guys did away with the good service, decent prices and everything that was good about it. Now it's just the same as every other awful, overpriced tire shop where they're always looking to pull one over on you and treat you like an imbecile if you are a woman. The last time I was there, I felt seriously creeped out by the way they treated me and their business practices. If you happen to accidentally end up there, talk to the older guy. We all know that the pain of finding a reliable mechanic is one of life's greatest challenges - and you will not find one here. I went to ABC because of the not completely awful reviews, and my limited choice because I had to get my car provincially inspected. I was told that the car had failed the inspection and was given a list of repairs that needed to be done. Fine. I accept that on a 2006 oldie. However, I was quoted ridiculous sums for parts (e.g. $750 for 2 front wheel bearings - just for parts! I know this is obscene because I have replaced the wheel bearings before, and quality parts cost around $200). I took my car to another mechanic because I knew the amount for parts from ABC was insane. My new mechanic tells me there is no reason for any of those repairs. The wheel bearings are fine (as I suspected since there was no noise whatsoever). The best part? He didn't charge me a cent even after he had thoroughly checked the car to make sure it was truly safe to drive. Who is this hero sent by the gods you ask? You can find him at Art's Automotive. I am a 30 year old female and was charged twice the price that my father was when I went to have my summer and winter wheels switched out. I called back to ask what it would cost and discovered it was true I had been overcharged. When I asked to speak with a manager I was told "no one cares about you, if you really want to get your damn money back come and get it, but not today, we are closed - you're lucky I even answered the phone" This is the first time I have written an online review - shows how shocked I was by the whole experience with Tireland. Not only were their prices extremely competitive, but they drove me to work and when the car had an unexpected issue, they took it all the way to the original dealership to get it sorted out - all this within the same day. This place is horrible. I wish that I could rate them zero stars, because they really don't even deserve one. They're dishonest crooks. Be warned! My friend had my truck towed here after running out of gas, not to my usual mechanic. They told him it would cost $1,200 to replace the fuel pump. I said "no way," I'll take it to my mechanic, whom I trust, seeing as I didn't even bring my truck there in the first place. That night, the window of my truck was smashed in their lot. Nothing stolen from the truck... not the stereo... not the thousands of dollars of tools in the back... no other windows of other cars in the lot had been smashed in... pretty blatantly obvious what happened. But hey, I can't claim that these guys smashed my window... even though everyone I tell the story to says "wow, sounds like those guys smashed your window." Right down to the window repair guy. Even if they didn't smash my window, they were negligent and should be held responsible for not having left my truck in a safer place. Is this how you want your automobile treated? Anyway, I had my truck towed to ATEB. Brilliant diesel mechanics. They tell me that nothing is wrong with my fuel pump, but its actually the fuel injectors. They replace them for half the cost, and the truck is running like a tank now. I doubt the tireland guys even looked at my truck. They're just a band of crooked thieves and merry tricksters. After reading some other reviews, they're probably going to write some bullshit story about me. Honestly, you can even tell by the positive comments that these guys get that they're fake. Pay close attention to the negative reviews and how the Tireland guys respond to them. It's disgusting. If you have diesel, take it to ATEB, any other problem or if you don't have diesel, take it to Tremblay Motors. There you go, you're set. read more

Don't bring your vehicle here. These guys charge way more than other more reputable mechanics, do poor quality work and DO NOT stand by their work at all. After my very negative experience, and after giving them a chance to fix their dishonesty and mistakes (which they refused to do and still lied about repeatedly) I spoke to some friends and they have also commented that their service, quality and ethics have all gone seriously downhill in the last year or two. This company has many inconsistencies. We called ahead of time to request for a price quote on 4 snow tires with installing, mount and alignment. We were given a a price amount of $XXX. When we decided to actually go to the store location and ask for the same quote on the snow tires, we were given a totally different price. We requested for a break down of the charges, and the people who was helping us asked us "why does it matter? you are paying $XXX at the end of the day. why do you care what the breakdown is?" We were quite appalled by the service and attitude of this location. We thanked them for their time, and left. We will NEVER be returning to this location, and would not recommend this place to anyone in the lower mainland. read more

BEWARE!!!! They misdiagnosed my car, I took it in for a sound, they said it was the clutch. They replaced it, then did some other work that they recommended be done. Well, I picked it up and there it was, the same noise!? Al (the owner) claimed he was "flush it out", and after that it actually sounded worse! He then said it was the transmission, which had to rebuilt, which he said would cost me another $2000 (on top of the $1700 from the original work). I took it to a transmission shop, they fixed it, but said the clutch pressure plate was warped?! Not only did Main auto misdiagnose it, they installed it incorrectly. I told Al, and he said it wasn't his problem, that I should of had the work done there!? DO NOT GO THERE!!! THEY DO NOT DESERVE YOUR MONEY!!!!! read more

The service I received at this location was awful. I am a female who goes by trust, not price, when it comes to having someone fix my car as I know little about cars. While getting a quote the 2 men in the office seemed like they were very helpful and knew what they were talking about. The one gentleman came out and looked at my tires, ensuring they would get me the exact match for what I had. I ordered the tires and put a deposit down on them. I came back the next week to have the tires put on. I left them with my car for an hour, trusting they would be working on my car. Upon my return I had found nothing was accomplished. He began by yelling at me, informing me that I did not have a key to unlock my tire (a very easy purchase at the dealership 5 blocks down). He continued by informing me it was my fault they did not do any work on my car, still yelling at me and talking over me. I kindly informed him it was a sign of disrespect the way he was talking to me and asked for my deposit back, which he refused to give me as it was "my fault". I asked him why he didn't call me to inform me of the issue, instead of wasting my time waiting for what I thought were placement of new tires.... He quickly changed the subject. Overall, I felt taken advantage of and feel others should know of this awful service. The manner through which this man dealt with this situation was very unprofessional. Yelling at someone, talking over them & blaming them was an odd way to deal with this matter when it would have taken me 5 minutes to get a simple key from down the street. read more

Worst experience with an alignment I have ever had. I watched the car on the hoist for 45 min and they charges 2 hours of labour. When they were done they let me drive off with an unsafe set up which would have blown both back tires within a week. They ordered the wrong parts to fix it and I had to return 3 times. The fix still has not adjusted for the s.a.i angle properly. I will never go there again nor would I suggest it to anyone. read more

Dishonest autorepair shop! Be warned. I've been going to this location for years and spend thousands of dollars at this shop. Often I found the markup on parts to be 300-400% over premium part prices on the Internet but I do understand that it's a business and it's no different than any other shop. Today I went in for an oil change and specifically requested 5w20 synthetic oil. I made a point of sticking around to see what was happening during the process. At first the mechanic brought out the right kind of oil but then one of the younger guys came out and spoke to the mechanic. Later I noticed the mechanic left the actual oils on the ground but got an empty container and go to the barrel at the back......When I approached them about it the explanations were that that was the right "synthetic" oil and that there is no difference between the oils and that with now the higher mileage my vehicle required a different grade of oil etc etc. You can judge yourself....I'm not going back to these guys read more
