    The standard shady mechanic. Tried to sell me $1000 worth of parts. Went to a different mechanic and had the problem solved for $50.

    MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER BE AWARE. These guys WILL OVERCHARGE…read moreYOU. And they overlooked duties in car servicing protocol. I took my car for a standard service and to take a look at a warning light. I came away with a totally flat battery (couldnt even start the car in the forecourt and the warning light not dealt with). To top it all they charged me $500 for a $375 retail price Battery. They also charged me 30% more than I was quoted over the phone for my service and couldn't explain it other than to say it was a receptionist who misquoted me. Mike tried to BS me that he had placed a better battery, but his product code which he had cleverly disguised so clients can not cross check the price, aligned exactly with what he had fitted. I called him on it and of course he went silent on me. No responses whatsoever. To miss a flat battery, makes me wonder what else wasn't completed in this car service. When lining up to pay for the car on collection, both clients in front of me were complaining of overcharges against quotes already issued. This seems to be quite a common issue with MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER. This is the last time my family will use MIDAS. We are not idiots MIKE. Don't hide behind your email. When you get called out on your BS, be a businessman, and answer your clients. Try and win them back. All you have done here for the sake of scraping an extra $200 out of me is loose our family custom and raise awareness to anyone reading this very fair and truthful statement NOT TO USE MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER. You failed on every count Mike. PS: Tony is a good guy - he must be embarrassed to work for you.

    1) Upsell Through Misrepresentation of Services…read more I came in for an oil change. Upon arrival, the staff tells me that there is sludge on the oil tank cap. He tells me that it is necessary for him to flush the engine before he is able to proceed. I say okay and was ushered back into my car. Within a minute, I go back out and ask the staff to not proceed with the flush. The staff says that he had already flushed the engine and that there was nothing he could do about it now. During the rest of the service, I ask more questions about the legitimacy of the service and the staff member tells me that the internet cannot be trusted. I then call the Vancouver Volkswagen dealership and confirmed my last oil change service date I did with them as well as mileage. The Volkswagen dealership relays that given the time and mileage between the oil change, that sludge formation was highly improbable and that if that was in fact the situation, that that would indicate a severe problem with the engine. I asked the staff if there was anything wrong with the engine, to which he says no. I argue that given the information provided that a flush was unnecessarily and that the staff had either misdiagnosed or mispresented the situation and service needed. The staff refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing. 2) Repeated refusals to honor agreed upon solutions Following the issues mentioned above, I spoke with the manager and he told me that he would refund the amount for the engine flush. He said that he would speak to his supervisor and that the refund will be processed the next day. The next day, I called back and the manager said that he could only refund half of the amount back. I was reluctant to the refund amount but agreed. Following the call, I posted a review on Google illustrating the interactions above. Half an hour later, the manager calls back and says "I saw your review on Google, no more refund for you", dishonoring yet another refund agreement.
