I can't really recommend this place because the buffet is really mediocre and small. There are not a lot of choices to pick from. Three different kinds of chicken on top of that the spicy chicken that was baked they should've had a pork dish instead or maybe even a pasta dish! Not that I go into a place like this expecting dazzling, awe inspiring greatness- but edible food would be nice. From the salad bar with watery, brown lettuce and warm, crusted-over mayonnaise based salads....to the hot bar with watery creamed corn and runny mashed potatoes....to the dessert bar with some sort of bizarre tan-colored ice cream in both the "chocolate" and "vanilla" side....this was a dining nightmare. The service was awful and almost rude, drinks were not refilled, and we left highly unsatisfied. Truck stops have better buffet quality- hell, the food's better at a truck stop even if it's been sitting out on the buffet for 5 hours. Only the fried chicken was reasonably edible. The rest- garbage. Avoid this place at all costs. And if you're a trucker or traveler, avoid the Citgo across the street too. We were on the road for a good part of the day and got hungry in the middle of nowhere... we were a bit nervous about the place given the reviews we had read...but - I am happy to report that our experience was actually very positive... The food was fresh and the buffet nicely stocked...not sure if it was because of the time of the evening we showed up - but everything was tasty - great soup, crispy fried chicken, fresh salad products, and really tasty sweet tea! Didnt say excuse me to refill food trays and then wanted you and everyone behind you in line to move to get out of the food lanes, when there was nobody on other side of them and they could have walked out that way. We stopped by here on a trip home after vacation, and the food was very good. The green beans were excellent, the ribs were pretty tasty, and the mac n cheese was on point. The server was very friendly. My only complaints would be that the restroom floor was sticky and had something dried on the floor. Also, the dessert wasn't fantastic. On the way back to my ATL suburb from a family reunion in Kissimmee, FL, we decided to stop at a Western Sizzlin in Adel, GA for some lunch. It had been years since my wife and I had eaten at a Western Sizzlin, so we decided to give it a try. We are glad we did. We opted for the buffet only rather than any of the entrees, or the entree/buffet combo. For my money the best thing on the buffet was the green beans, followed by the collard greens. The chicken and dumplings was very good, not a trace of mushiness in the dumplings. The baked chicken 4 on a scale of 5 (not dried out but not all that flavorful), but the Southern style fried chicken was 5 out of 5. There was very little oil in the skin, and the meat was juicy and so good. For dietary reasons we held ourselves to one piece of fried chicken for the two of us, but we did get some more and peeled off the skin to enjoy the delicious white meat underneath. We wish that the salad bar had more kinds of lettuce than just iceberg lettuce (which was fresh and crisp and good.). We would have enjoyed some romaine, spinach, etc. But that would be no reason for us to skip Western Sizzlin. As I said, those green beans were epic. Our waitress Thea was friendly and very professional. She came by a few times to see how we were getting on, and she brought over some extra napkins without being asked. The coffee she served me was quite good. The dining room itself was very large and very plain. One could tell the management spent their money on the food and on training the staff rather than on decor, which usually is just fine with me. I don't think there is a Western Sizzlin near me, but when I find myself on the road again, I'm pretty sure I'll visit another one. read more

This is our go to restaurant in this area for lunch. Great fried chicken, and other meats, good veggies, decent salad bar and the staff is friendly and attentive. Most of the patrons are quiet, so it is usually a nice quiet place to have lunch. Some of the stuff is probably canned, but some of it is made fresh also, like the greens and the rutabagas and the chicken & dumplings. We were on our way home from Orlando and wanted to eat at Western Sizzlin. We found this one and, for 82 miles, we waited anxiously to arrive. When we got there, the lady who met us was friendly. But when we went to the buffet to see what they had, the manager came out and told me that I couldn't have my guide dog at the buffet. She said he could be in the seating area, but not close to the buffet. (that was a problem right away, because you had to walk by the buffet to get to the seating area, unless you went entirely out of your way, between other people eating, to get there.) I told her she couldn't do that, and we went ahead and got our food. The food was OK, but the discrimination was blatant.
