Talk about unprofessional. I brought my granddaughter to take her road test after completing their entire course. She scheduled it 2 months in advance. A fight breaks out between the employees in front of customers and a classroom full of people and the testing woman yells "I quit" grabs her coffee cups and storms out the door and screeches out of the parking lot. We were left after paying an additional $70 with no test. They have no other person. If you need top notch service and great people go to Montrose Driving Education well worth the trip. Steer clear of Western Slope Driving Institute. I wouldn't even want that woman in the car with her. read more

I would like to have been told PRIOR to signing up that my son has to drive with me for 15 hours prior to going with the instructor. That is kinda the point of driving school, to have someone else teach the initial driving. Also, why are the drive times in the middle of the day when kids have school? all families are welcome to contact me if you were also charged cancellation fees for showing up without a "driving log". its not in the contract. this is a breach of contract. unjust enrichment demanding an extra fee for showing up before we can schedule future lessons. they cancelled my daughter's first driving lesson for "being 10 minutes late" after making her wait for 30+ minutes because she left 20 minutes early to get around construction, and because the instructor was 15 minutes late - and when the instructor finally showed up "late"? they told my husband to go home to get her driving log because they claimed it was required by our contract?!? ***not in the contract, btw*** when he returned with the log not required by contract, they were told they cancelled her lesson because she was 10 minutes late after sitting in their office the entire time?!? the owner / manager needs to refund us. all of this is unacceptable - especially after we had our daughter endure classes during the summer with no working a/c in the building. i recommend your office rectify this asap. my husband lost his cool, but to be fair? my daughter has been treated very poorly by this organization from day one and we're over it. get it together and do your damn jobs. we paid for the lessons. i was hung up on by the manager when i called to discuss. i'm disgusted. d. swanson read more

This is my first review on any business and having to set up a Yelp account in order to leave this one is totally worth it to me. Honestly disappointed that 0 stars isn't an option here. First of all, I was told my daughter had to show up 15 minutes prior to her lesson in order to get her permit copied and drive hours looked at, so I had her there 20 minutes early. We walked in and said we were there for the lesson. The VERY snarky reply from the lady in the office was, "you're super early and your instructor isn't even here yet. You'll have to find something else to do for 19 minutes." The driving lessons with Deb and Holly over the next few weeks were great. Both instructors were kind, told my daughter that she was doing great, and gave her a few pointers and things to polish up. Deb and Holly were both fantastic. After the first week we were told to schedule the driving test. Which was not included in the original cost of $415 and was an EXTRA $65. We scheduled it for a few weeks out at 11:30 because that's my daughter's lunch break. On the day of the test we walked in 5 minutes early (hoping we weren't sent away to "find something else to do") and were told, by same office lady from above, that our appointment was at 10:50. Ok what?? That time was NEVER discussed because that time didn't work for us. Also, why didn't you call at 10:55 when we weren't there? I kindly said the appointment was at 11:30 and she sarcastically replied, "oh super weird." They ended up letting my daughter take the test. Rude lady was the test instructor and ripped my daughter's driving to absolute shreds right to our faces...."I'm going to be honest, this was a horrible drive day for you." (She had not driven with my daughter ever so that was a strange comment). She continued on, "you pulled in front of that car" (nope, the lady in the other car waved for my daughter to go ahead, so she did and politely waved thank you to her) "and we were almost hit and could've been seriously injured. You blocked traffic which is incredibly dangerous. Your mirror scanning is lacking to the point of being dangerous and hazardous to the road. I very seriously considered failing you but I'm going to go ahead and pass you." My daughter told me when we got in the car to leave that she felt she drove really well and was so confused. So here's my take away. Are they really passing dangerous and hazardous teens? The last thing I want out on the road is a dangerous driver! If my daughter was truly a hazard to the road, why are you passing her?? She's not, but according to this lady she was. OR is this woman being rude and condescending just for the sake of being rude and condescending? I am in complete shock at the extreme unprofessional manner of this woman from the very beginning of our experience there. I am typically a person that prefers showing people grace, but this lady was totally out of line not once, not twice, but the entire month we worked with her. When my 13 year old has to take these lessons in a few years, we will be making the drive to Delta to go to to the other more professional driving school. read more

Awful, absolutely awful. After our child got sick, they refused to finish the driving ed package because it had been too long time past. That's what happens when you have a sick child for 18 months, time passes. They had no empathy or care that we spent a $400 and only finished a portion of the class. DO NOT GO TO THEM. I don't recommend this school. PERIOD! Ok.. Here is my reasoning. I have just received a call from a lady from this driving school. She was very judgmental and offensive. Just to start with, she had an issue with my daughter because my daughter was in twenties and didn't have her driver's license. So, was it wrong for her to wait to get her license after completing the college and save money for a car before getting the license? Of course, the lady wan not even interested in listening to that; the lady just said, "something is wrong with her." Then, when I pointed out that she took their 2-hour behind the wheel training right after she got her permit earlier this year, the lady said, "your daughter doesn't know how to drive and she doesn't know rules". Then, the lady told me that they would accept my daughter as a student if she took their 30-hour in class training. Well, it is one thing to have some book knowledge. It is very different to actually drive a car on the street, which, as an employee of the driving school, the lady should be well aware of that! I understand that they are in business to make profit and want to sell additional services; I expect that from any businesses. But, did what the lady said make me want to buy their services? Absolutely NOT! If they want to sell additional services, try something different. Perhaps, they should teach their employees to listen to their potential customers before judging them. On the phone, the lady kept calling themselves "the best in town" but it sounded merely overconfidence to me. And the overconfidence often leads to something negative sooner or later. Again, I don't recommend this driving school to anyone. read more

My kids have all taken the class from Western Slope Driving Institute and done the drive time. We were given a packet with all the deadlines and rules in it for each child and they went over them in class. I think this class is well worth the money we paid for it for every child. They were all prepared to become responsible drivers and knew all the rules of the road after finishing the class and so far none of them have had a ticket or an accident. The teachers keep the kids engaged and attentive during the class. read more

Disappointed with the experience. Took our 18 year old son in and the instructor cussed in the car and told our son he's had the worse score of anyone. My son felt the instructor was aggressive. He gave good feedback when my husband was present and then said, "he's close if he corrects the things" he did wrong. My son was shaken after the experience. Can't recommend to others. read more

The examiner I had was very unprofessional the moment she walked in. My mom and I were sitting and waiting and she made us wait 15 minutes after my appointment so she could eat breakfast. I was already very nervous and she only intensified that, she never once addressed me by my name or said hello. I ended up going to In and Out Driving School in Delta and instantly the examiner was much better. He addressed me by my name, told me not to be nervous, and made me feel much more comfortable. Highly recommend In and Out in Delta, as for Western Slope Driving Institute no one in my family will be returning. Receptionist was awesome tho! read more

Took their online class through Montrose branch. Logged in to take final exam didn't remember we had exactly 6 months to complete course (no reminders from them). We were 1 day late, couldn't take test, they offered us no solution. They only offered us Saturday drive times since Tuesdays were full. Couldn't drive on Saturdays. No flexibility. So I paid $350 for zippo. No certificate from completing the class No drive time = No insurance discount and out $350. read more

We purchased the package that included in-class instruction with drive time. It was worth every penny. My son learned a ton and was able to pass both his permit test and his road test on the first try. I think the instructors really know how to relate to these teens and turn them into responsible drivers. I appreciated the information provided to parents regarding deadlines and other information. Highly recommend!!! read more

They are amazing at teaching students how to drive safely and responsibly. Their class and drive time is focused on helping each teenager be the absolute safest and best driver they can be. I have personally witnessed them turn timid drivers into confident and knowledgeable drivers. They are the only driving school in GJ that I recommend. read more

THEY ARE DECEITFUL & NOT HONEST!!!! THEY DO NOT TELL YOU ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW....As a matter of fact they deceive you. We were told our daughter "would have to have scheduled drive time" and we were charged nearly $200 for it. THIS IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE. Our daughter will be 16 1/2 when she is eligible for her license because she waited 6 months to get her permit. We were notified this last month from a friend at the DMV that scheduled drive time for a 16 1/2 year old is not required. When I called to ask if we could get reimbursed for the money we paid for drive time I was told "NO" - it's in your contract. I have reread the contract and in no place does it say anything about required ages for drive time. When asked if they believe its "honest to deceive people and not telling the 'whole truth'" about who is required to have actual drive time I was told "I'm a Christian woman and have run this business for eleven years and that why we're the only show in town". While being Christian has nothing to do with this it does have to do with being honest and not deceitful.... MAKE SURE YOU ASK ALL THE RIGHT QUESTIONS! It's not right to have paid for a service and time that is not being fulfilled and not have it reimbursed. read more
