I live with my sister in her home and heard the altercation. I also own a business, and I was shocked at what I was hearing. How could a business owner say these things to customers over a misunderstanding? He had no empathy, compassion, or understanding at all regarding what happened. My sister came into my room asking for advice because she was confused, asking if it was normal for a worker to quote a different price even though the owner quoted a higher price. I told her that if that was the case, maybe they were individual workers working with him. She then let the man start working. About thirty minutes later, maybe more, Matthew's worker came. He was also late, which is important to note. My kind sister said, "Let me call Matthew, I'm sure he'll understand." That man showed absolutely no understanding whatsoever. In the business world, you start to recognize who genuinely cares about helping people and who only cares about money. From what I witnessed, Matthew came across as money hungry. He leads his workers not by working alongside them, but by having them do the labor while he takes a cut. I was splitting the cost of the weed removal, so I was also a paying customer in this situation. My sister kindly offered Robert food, gas money, and water. I was honestly upset at her for even offering after how rude and demanding Matthew was being. A real business owner would not demand gas money from customers over a misunderstanding. Business owners understand that gas is part of operating a business and is also a tax write-off. The fact that he continued demanding gas money instead of simply handling the misunderstanding professionally was extremely unprofessional. He never once said, "Don't worry about the gas." He was angry from start to finish. My sister came back into the house asking if I thought I should step in, but she said she was trying to be respectful and believed Matthew would understand once she explained the misunderstanding. I told her she was being too nice. Instead, he treated her like she intentionally caused the situation and then continued demanding more money. Don't support a business whose characteristics show firsthand how they truly are. This man heavily uses his past military service to make his business look trustworthy -- "veteran-owned," "military police," etc. But then states his military background has nothing to do with his business. So why advertise it so heavily in the first place? It comes across as trust-based marketing -- using military status to gain credibility, relatability, emotional trust, support, and goodwill from customers. As someone from a military family, and prior service, that was especially disappointing to witness because the professionalism being advertised did not match the behavior we experienced. Meanwhile, Robert himself was actually respectful, calm, and understanding throughout the entire interaction. Ironically, the worker showed far more professionalism than the owner did. At the end of the day, misunderstandings happen. What matters is how a business owner handles them. Unfortunately, the way Matthew handled this situation left an extremely negative impression on our household, and based on this experience, I would not recommend this business to others. read more

I'm honestly very disappointed with how this situation was handled. WE HAVE EVERYTHING ON OUR HOME CAMERAS, SO WHEN RESPONDING TO MY REVIEW, PLEASE DO NOT LIE LIKE YOU DID WITH MY HUSBANDS REVIEW, AND TRY TO STATE DIFFERENT TIME FRAMES, OR THAT YOU STATED "don't worry about the gas" my review comes after watching all footage to ensure all time frames, all statements, and everything said is nothing but the truth. The amount of unprofessionalism Matthew displayed was extremely disappointing, especially considering he is former Army. We are a military family ourselves, so we understand how important timelines, communication, and professionalism are. That is part of why I wanted to support a veteran-owned business in the first place, knowing how difficult the transition from military to civilian life can sometimes be. Unfortunately, Matthew failed to show up within the timeframes he provided on three separate occasions prior to this incident. He didn't show up to two confirmed appointment times and came late to another. Despite that, I still tried to remain patient and understanding. We had scheduled a weed removal service for Saturday, May 12th with Matthew, but he called me today stating, "My worker is in Hemet, we can do it today." Despite the change, I agreed. At 10:40 a.m., he texted stating his worker would arrive "in ABOUT an hour." Around 11:15 a.m., another man arrived at our home speaking only Spanish and said he was here to "work on weeds." Since he arrived within the timeframe Matthew had given us, I genuinely believed he was associated with Matthew's company. The man immediately began working on the yard. To add to this, Matthew never informed me who specifically was coming, so it was reasonable to believe this man, showing up at the exact timeframe Matthew gave, was his worker. At approximately 12:10 p.m., Matthew's actual worker arrived, which was around 35 minutes after the first man had already started working. He didn't arrive "in about an hour," but much later. That is when I realized there had been a misunderstanding. I immediately called Matthew to explain the situation because we obviously could not pay two separate people for the same job after work had already begun. Instead of handling the misunderstanding professionally, Matthew became very upset, short-tempered, and repeatedly stated that we were "wasting his time." He then demanded that we pay his worker for gas. Wanting to be fair, I quickly thought of a number and offered $5 because Matthew had previously told me his worker was coming from Hemet, which is where we live as well. Since Hemet is a smaller city, I thought that was a reasonable amount to at least help with gas. Matthew then became even more upset and stated the worker was actually coming from Menifee and demanded "at least $20." This confused me because I had previously been told the worker was coming from Hemet. Matthew also stated that his GMT400 GMC Suburban only gets around 8 miles per gallon, which he used to justify the amount. However, most eighth-generation GMC Suburbans from that era average closer to 12-15 MPG combined. Considering Menifee to Hemet is roughly a 15-20 mile drive depending on location, the reaction and demand for gas money felt excessive, especially when I was already trying to offer something in good faith. I also want to note that I did not have to offer money at all, but still tried to help out of respect for his worker's time. I later walked over to Robert in his truck, sincerely apologized, and explained that we are a military family and truly did not have much to offer, but that I could try to gather $10 or $15 for gas and also send him home with food and water. Robert himself was actually very kind and understanding and said, "I wasn't even supposed to be working today, it's really no worries." He also reassured me not to take Matthew's comments personally. I completely understand being frustrated about wasted time, but accidents and miscommunications happen. What upset me most was the aggressive attitude, poor communication, and overall lack of professionalism in handling what was clearly an honest misunderstanding. A calmer and more respectful conversation would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, because of this interaction, I would not feel comfortable using this company again. Not to mention, the pricing felt extremely high. We were quoted $350 for a small front yard (roughly 200 sq ft), while the individual who initially arrived, completed the same work, and did everything Matthew stated he would, he leveled, he pulled, he even sprayed with weed spray. At the end he said "only $100 for my work" which was amazing! We were told we'd have to pay an additional fee for weed spray with Matt. I would strongly recommend shopping around before committing, because I thought $350 was normal, come to find out it's not. It's priced so he gets a cut. read more

A quote was requested from this place and dude showed up not after the first initial set time of meeting but on the third time and late. We scheduled to have our weeds pulled for the weekend and he calls saying he has a worker in the area that can come by and do it today keep in mind this was him offering the service to be done today not requested by myself. Another guy came by and quoted cheaper which was not our choice but because he had already started we weren't gonna tell him to just stop actively pulling weeds and the job he started. We call the owner Matthew to give a heads up and he is just completely rude and demanding of the situation saying that we were responsible for the guy wasting gas to come out here but like what was said before he offered because his worker was in the area. The customer service from Matthew was terrible he became super hostile and aggressive on the phone and trying to demand of gas money for sending his guy out that was "already working in the area" then begins to say $5 isn't enough to get back to menifee and requested $20 EVEN THOUGH HE OFFERED BECAUSE THEY WERE WORKING IN THE AREA. He portrays being veteran owed but me being an active duty marine immediately can hear and see the unprofessionalism all around. There was no understanding of the situation on his end at all just more worried about the money more than the service. If the value of work is the same as the customer service we experienced i highly recommend you find a different business to work with. read more

I called them the night before because I have guests coming this weekend with 3 feet high weeds in my backyard.
