    Text message from Westgate
    Breslen R.

I went to Westgate because I had pain in my tooth. Figured out I had to get a root canal redone. This was on December 23rd, I was there for FOUR HOURS. From 8 am to 12pm. I know there was a lot to be done, but a warning that it would be that long would've been nice. I was originally told I would be done at 11 am. I was first given numbing meds at 8am, and I wasn't given more medicine until 11:20 am (at that point I thought I was almost done, since it was past the time I was told. So I hadn't asked for more). When scheduling my appointment for my crown, I was very clear as to the fact that I am in college and would need to come back. It was yesterday. They texted an automated text to me that "I canceled the appointment and needed to reschedule." I had to find on their Facebook that they closed. I don't like writing bad reviews, but they were "booked solid" for today when I called them at 9am even though they knew my situation (I even called on Tuesday and Wednesday to ask to be moved up to Thursday, and if there was any possibility of them closing because of the snow). I'm just honestly disappointed in my experience. Maybe I will update this review after I get the crown. As per the owners reply - Westgate Dental called me at 8:33am and 8:34am today, Saturday 1/13/24. I called back at 9:04am to reschedule. There was absolutely no communication on Friday, 1/12/24, the day of my appointment. Even though I have a temporary crown, and it's clearly urgent to get the permanent crown on, there wasn't any urgency when I was rescheduled. Please hold you and your company accountable, instead of blaming the patient.

Rip off. Crown fell off. 300 bucks to glue it back on. Went back for cleaning, fix a small hole in crown, 600 bucks. Buyer beware.

Which became believable based on how they manipulated my mouth during the cavity fillings. My lower lip was completely split from their manipulation. Lastly, Dr Zeno continued to state "we are almost done" throughout the entire appointment. When in actuality, there was more than an hour more left before he finished. Fast forward to today, I booked a cleaning appointment for 5/8 and was told it was booked for 6/8 instead. Waited 10 minutes in the lobby just to be told I couldn't be seen today. Today was the last time I will bother with their practice.

Angie is the office manager, and Josie her front desk assistant, and both are pleasant and helpful.  Rachel is their excellent full-time hygienist, also with a nice touch we have found.  Coreen and Alamera are the DA's we have encountered, and both have been helpful and communicative.   It's probably worth mentioning one other important aspect. We don't have dental insurance which is really not uncommon with retirees. I also haven't really checked around but this place is probably not the cheapest for dental services but we go with good experience. They do have an annual maintenance program offering that is a good deal if you decide to be a regular and that includes 20% off of services as well as two cleanings, two exams, and x-rays. Pro-tip:  Just don't call the office on Tuesdays as they are closed that day.  Thank you all for being there for us!

This was during the pandemic and he seemed to take COVID-19 more seriously than other places. A year after the pandemic the place has good practices with air sanitizers, masking, and cleaner. Every visit was professional and people were in a good mood. Only note I have does not have to do with Dr. Khan. I came here because another place pulled my tooth. I refused to go back after I found out that an option was to redo the root canal. Yes, that's possible even if it's already been root canaled. The other place did not explain that an implant is a "best we can do" replacement, not an exact replacement of a real tooth with your original gum outline. Dental insurance does not cover an implant, and they made it seem like it would be more cost effective if I get it pulled. I can afford a few grand to keep all my original body parts! Point is a retreatment should be done, the chances of it failing are not 100%, a tooth pulling should not be the next option after a root canal. I still have some random light discomfort. I would have no problem getting an implant if a retreatment failed, but because of a bad second opinion, I have a fake tooth with me until am dead, or medical science figures out how to grow teeth again. To be clear, the place that pulled my tooth put me in this situation, and Dr. Khan was not involved in that. He was excellent and I have already recommended someone to him. I wish I went to him when I had the problem tooth so I could have saved it even for only a dozen more years.

This was not a simple procedure. The crown and abutment were extremely difficult to remove, and there was uncertainty about what would be found underneath. Dr. Kakos was willing to take on a challenge that many others would not, working carefully and persistently to help preserve my existing implant rather than moving straight to removal. His kindness, confidence, and willingness to help made an incredibly stressful situation much easier to handle. Thanks to his expertise and determination, the implant was saved and I can move forward with the next stage of treatment. I am truly grateful that he was willing to step in when I needed someone with the skill and experience to tackle such an unusual case. Thank you, Dr. Kakos!

My experience with the administrative staff at this dental office was very disappointing. The…read moresituation was handled in a way that I found unprofessional and disrespectful. Before my procedure, I was not informed of the expected cost. I had to ask for the pricing myself, and I was told they wanted payment even though the office had not yet confirmed all the details of my insurance coverage. I believe patients should receive a clear explanation of anticipated costs and insurance benefits before being asked to pay whenever possible. When I requested a better explanation of my bill, instead of taking the time to review it with me, I was told that if I did not pay, my account could be sent to collections. This was mentioned while I was simply trying to understand the charges, not refusing to pay. I found this approach intimidating and not reflective of good customer service. In particular, my interaction with Kelly at the front desk was disappointing. I found her communication to be rude and lacking professionalism. I believe the front desk staff would benefit from additional training in customer service, communication, and handling billing concerns with empathy and respect. Because of this experience, I have lost confidence in the administrative practices of this office and would not choose to return. I hope the practice improves its communication regarding treatment costs, insurance verification, and customer service so that future patients have a better experience. In addition to my own experience, it appears that other patients have reported similar concerns, including long wait times, appointments running behind schedule, difficulty scheduling or rescheduling visits, and frustration with billing, insurance estimates, and unexpected charges. Communication regarding treatment plans, insurance coverage, and out-of-pocket costs also seems to be an ongoing concern, as patients are not always provided with clear explanations before receiving treatment or being asked to make payments. Based on this experience, my family and I have decided not to return to this practice. I encourage prospective patients to carefully review their options and consider other dental providers to help avoid similar issues related to communication, billing, and customer service.
