I agree with the reviewer who said they don't care about prospective renters at all. No staff assigned to answer renters' questions about listed rental properties. Website and phone system redirects renters back to website, online application, or the single 30-minute showing for the property. So I completed the application, including scanning confidential financial documents. No feedback for weeks. Never called me to show me the property. Finally an email said they rented it. As a newcomer to Petaluma who is renting until I find a house to buy here, Westgate Real Estate gave an awful first impression. Good riddance. read more

Seemingly nice to talk too at first: but this rental company has done some very sketchy things while we rented from them. First, they increased our down deposit after we told them about our service animal, and said our last rental owners said we smoked... we don't smoke, never had. Anytime we would request something to be fixed, we would never hear from them. The fridge was leaking water when we first moved in, they never fixed it. the heaters were smoking and leaving a black residue on the walls, they told us to not light candles, we did, and it was still happening and never got fixed. When we moved in, the fridge still had food in it still, and the house was still dirty from the last tenant. When we left they took over $800 dollars from our deposit, for a cleaning fee, and damage to the counter tops that was done by the last tenant. We sent pictures and told them we hired a cleaning service but they told us "this matter is closed" and never responded. We are a gay interracial couple, and through all of this, they kept calling us roommates or friends, when it's obvious we were together. This company caters to white heteronormative couples and if you're anyone else, be sure they're going to try and steal all the money they can from you. After everything they tried threatening us with a "poor renters reference" if we used them as as rental history. Overall, do not rent from them if you respect yourself. read more

We recently bought and sold a house using Westgate Real Estate. Bridget Lyons was our agent and we cannot say enough about how great she was with us through the entire process. On the selling side Bridget made sure we started getting ready several months in advance of listing the house. We lived in our house for 38 years so there was a lot to get done! Downsizing, wading through years of memories (and junk!) were made easier by Bridget's recommendations for selling, donating or saving. We got all our inspections ahead of time and Bridget gave us guidance on what was important to fix and what we should leave alone. What a blessing it has been to work with Westgate Real Estate right off the bat! My husband and I are fairly newlyweds. We have lived in an apartment for the last year, but decided it was time to rent a house. We have a fur baby and that made the process feel impossible. Do not try to rent from this company unless you plan on exerting quite an abnormal amount of effort & time during the process. They had a rental, I applied and finding every option to question my application, they strung me along past the 1st of the month, for 3 weeks before finding so many issues with my application that I called them out.....and they denied me. I have perfect rental ref's, perfect personal ref's, make way more than enough and have good credit, never an eviction or bankruptcy & no pets. It was plain discrimination. Whether based on my disability (yes, I am (disabled) or race or creed. And as if that weren't bad enough I was informed that "Everyone in Petaluma that rents homes behaves in this way". What a terrible generalization to make. If you need to rent a home & don't have time for games and "the run-around", save yourself a lot by not wasting your time. read more
