Eddie checked his stock, which originally showed they had the belt in stock, but then came back to the phone and said that they did not have the belt, but to come up with my old one and we would find a match. Well... Apparently, Eddie continued to look while I was on my way. When he saw me walk through the door with the worn-out old belt, he met me within about 15 feet of the front door with the OEM belt I was looking for. He had never seen me before, but was looking out for me. This is the best customer service I've received from any retailer in quite some time. Apparently they were short staffed because we waited for 45 minute to get assistance in the windows and doors department after we had to walk the store looking for someone to help. The person who was available to help was on the other side of the door chatting with another employee. Since he did not work in the door department and was not trained in that area, he had to solicit the assistance of a manager on duty (Rudy). Rudy was nice and helped up select the doors. He explained he would se up a consultation first at which time the doorway would be measured and at that time we would order the doors to our specification. He said it is a "free consultation", however the installation fee would be $169. This was all acceptable to us. He set the consultation with a representative for the next day at 2:40p.m. I received a confirmation via email. I changed my work schedule in order to accommodate this consultation. The day of the appointment I received an email stating the appointment was cancelled with no explanation. As I said I lost a day of work which caused me to lose income. I tried to call the representative (Hammad) and left a voice mail. I also texted him with no reply. I called the store and spoke to a woman who described a completely different process for ordering the storm doors. She said the consultation fee is $30 and needed to be pain in advance. She said the appointment was cancelled because the fee had not been paid. As I mentioned, the manager told us the consultation was free and did not charge us a fee. I asked her why the manager was not aware of the procedure and she did not know. The fee would not have been a problem had we known it was necessary. She said she would get in touch with Hammad and have him call me back. Hammad did call back and describe a completely different process explaining that the doors needed to be paid for prior to his visit. We were told by the manager all of that would be taken care of during the visit from the sale consultant. Also he did not have any appointments available on the day the original appointment was set. It appears that there is no cross training between departments. Also it was evident there is a breakdown in communication among employees. Even the manager on duty did not know how to sell a couple of storm doors. It was a lot of waisted time and income lost from my job. Because of the lack of communication and poor quality of service we lost trust and confidence that Lowe's would do a professional job.

There's also plenty of parking, making it easy to get in and out, even when buying larger items. What really stood out during my visit, though, was the phenomenal customer service. The ladies working there were absolutely outstanding--friendly, welcoming, and genuinely eager to help. Elaine was a star. I was left standing and waiting for a manager approval while the only manager available, Barbara, was assisting another customer and simply stated, "It's going to be awhile." What is especially frustrating is that the manager approval for my return would have taken less than a minute. Why couldn't Barbara step away for 30 seconds to approve the return and then continue helping the other customer? Instead, customers are left standing around waiting for what should be a routine transaction. It's hard to understand why a large Lowe's location in one of the biggest metroplexes in the country would have only one manager available to handle customer issues and approvals. The employees on the floor shouldn't have to apologize for staffing decisions beyond their control, and customers shouldn't be stuck waiting indefinitely for routine transactions. Lowe's needs to do a better job scheduling adequate management coverage. Been waiting for 20 minutes and counting.... It must be embarrassing for a store to get a review while the customer is waiting. Up to 40 mins....

I told her that I have a medical exemption and she said they don't recognize any exemptions and to leave. This could have been handled without such a degree of rudeness. I received assistance right away from one of the managers (Josh) with locating specific tools to cut the crown molding, as well as a specialty electric nail gun (not the one that utilizes an air compressor). His assistance made all the difference in the world, as I didn't have to return any merchandise nor make a second trip to NRH to obtain more tools and materials. The older lady with glasses at cash register (she usually answers the phone) was outstanding in her customer service demeanor, both on my initial visit and a later visit for a different at-home project. She definitely seems to know what she is talking about in terms of available inventory, and correct materials to use when posing a specific question. Further, the coupons offered by the store via internet promotion (sometimes daily or bi-weekly) turned out to significantly help on price reduction. Due to this alone, I highly recommend signing up for Harbor's reward program- it certainly pays an almost immediate return.
