In 2021 our pool was in need of an update and resurfacing. It is a simple 30 year-old oval pool. The old fiberglass surface was worn and the cement was starting to show through. The old Mexican tiles were surrounded by cracked and mildewed grout, and the brick coping was also cracked and dated. We wanted a clean up-to-date look without over investing. In some ways, a renovation can be harder than a new pool. First, it took three vendors to figure out that this was a plaster surface with a fiberglass coating, a quality job, but one that is no longer common. Westlake was the only vendor that got it right in knowing what it was and how to address. Their price was affordable...or within reason. One vender wanted to charge us the same cost as a new pool ...so beware. Westlake also helped in selecting the new materials, and the owner, Mark, personally met us at the tile store and the stone yard. The demolition was fast, and the crew was very clean..neatly bagging the residue and hauling it away. This is a small business, and having an experienced crew is everything, so we want to also acknowledge their hard work. We chose a simple glass tile and light quartz finish to match the sky. We included small reflective specs to add a little brilliance in the sun. The initial work was fast, within a month. However, some of the smaller details took another month or two...things we didn't expect or added on...like ordering a new rail, fixing old electrical wiring, installing a new pool light, and sealing the stone and grout. I say this to help others plan ahead. Once your job is done, these details have to be squeezed in-between other jobs. Since the repairs were done off season, we weren't really in a hurry other than getting it done so the deck crew can get in and do their work. I'll be reviewing them too. Feel free to message me if you want to know more. PS: Westlake stayed true to the estimate and helped us stay on budget...not all vendors do that. I did need to remind them of some details/decisions. With any vendor, take good notes and get as much as possible in writing. Also, work schedules are rather fluid, but likely common across vendors. Wish I had seen more pools ahead of doing the work, as selecting styles and colors was not easy. I'm not loving the grey stone, but we'll have a better idea after the new deck is installed. read more

I've dealt with Mark for a number of years. Originally replaced my pool heater & did a great job. He was respectful, explained the process every step of the way & made us feel comfortable with whatever was happening. I recently had to call him to see if he does pool plastering, he responded quickly & professionally & was able to refer me to a couple other companies that he uses. I would recommend Mark & his company. If he says he can do it, I believe him to be able to get the job done. read more

Extremely poor customer service. We had an appt for "the morning," and after waiting four hours I called. Actually I called twice before Mark called me back an hour later saying there was a scheduling conflict and he apologized. He assured me he would be by the next morning at 8:30 to make it right. He never showed up, never called. For a company to blatantly treat customers as if their time is unimportant is unacceptable. I will not patron this business. Very upset! read more

The initial service visit had a great technician --- everyone else was below average at best. The current tech is a kid who doesn't know what he is doing and he has consistently left the pool pump timers off and the control box open to the elements. They always apologized until this week and now they are arguing that it is our fault. After a few emails back and forth they have "cancelled" our contract on 1 days notice. Nor surprising given they have been unprofessional since the 1st problem and have unqualified people handling the job. Don't waste your time or money on this company. read more

PASS. At first they were ok. They quickly started racking up the services without asking me to bill bill bill... It was annoying. They pressure you into thinking you won't survive without them and that you have to keep weekly maintenance. The contractors that I had (not full time employees) were good but the owners Christie and Mark were obnoxious. They were rude, slightly harassing and backwoods in running their business. I would say pass, pass, pass. They need to treat people who they charge so much with respect. It's like a college student is ordering their services and I felt they took advantage of the situation. They charged me for a new pool light, didn't get it, fixed pool parts, didn't get it... and then they put a lien against my property for like $500.00 because they kept coming when I asked them not to and kept billing. The initial service visit had a great technician --- everyone else was average at best. They don't consistently show up when they say they will, but have plenty of excuses for why they could not make it out. When they don't make it out - they don't call or communicate in any way. Their repair prices are super-inflated, too. Worst of all - the owner is an a$$ who would rather argue with a customer than try to fix a problem. After them not showing up last week (no communication on their part) and then not showing up timely again, I decided to call their office. I called and left a message and the owner called back. I mentioned that they had not been there the previous week and he said that his staff couldn't get into our back yard because it was locked. It is true that our fence has a lock on it, but we unlock it by 8:00am every day that we are scheduled for pool service. Both my wife and I were home throughout the day in question and no one showed up, called, knocked on the door, rang the doorbell, etc. He had the excuse that they stopped by twice, but the gate was locked. Strange that they didn't ring the doorbell or leave a door hanger like they do on every other visit. At this point, I was sick of trying to work with them and decided to go ahead and cancel our service while I was on the phone with the owner. The owner asked why and when I started explaining the various problems, he got an attitude, argued with me and ultimately just hung up on me - apparently the truth can be a bit painful for some folks. read more

Horrible experience!!! Unprofessional and unwilling to resolve my issue! I recently purchased a house with a pool and ordered an inspection to check for leaks and any other issues. This inspection was done during my option period and the house was occupied by the seller so this needed to be done without me being present. The inspection came back with no leaks. I move in a couple weeks later, cleared out grass that was around the base of the pump and noticed a visible leak as well as considerable rust on the metal support that secured the pump to the concrete slab indicating the leak had not been new. I got another pool professional who confirmed the leak was clearly not new. When confronting Mark at Westlake Pool and Spa, he essentially told me to "battle it out" with my credit card and told me there would be no refund. He was unapologetic, unsympathetic and possessed zero customer service skills. He told me that there might have been a leak but they do not clear any shrubs to do a visual inspection of the base of the pump. $150 for a pool inspection and you cannot clear an inch of dead grass to see if there are leaks? I don't know what was worse, the poor inspection or his attitude. Once they have your money, they could care less about resolving any issues that may arise. Take my advice and DO NOT use Westlake Pool and Spa!!! They don't stand by their work and their attitude was outrageous. Mark, you need to take some business classes and learn how to treat your customers. read more

Don't know what to say about the negative reviews, but I had a number of communications with Mark and Johnny to get an estimate for the installation of a new Intelliflo to replace a single speed pump, and they were always quite responsive. It was not a difficult job, but is necessary to get a pro to install to get the warranty coverage from Pentair. The service tech, who was very experienced, was on time and rewired the control panel and bypassed the dial and freeze protection, which is not something I would have considered since a booster pump remained in place. In the end, the bill was below estimate, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use again. read more

If there was an option to give zero stars, I would. Not only do they outsource their labor. They will continue to service you without your approval, pile on late charges and harass you for things they chose to do without your approval. I think they are completely unprofessional and the only thing good about them is they stumbled upon good labor, so to the contractors out there.... good job! To the owneres Mark and Christie. Mark and his team are great! I have received nothing but amazing consistent service since day 1 of their agreement with our home. They show up, the pool is always amazing and the invoicing is reasonable. I think they are a great team and extremely professional and attentive. 5 stars!!! read more
