TLDR: DO NOT USE Caribbean Blue Pools for ANY sort of pool renovations.  The quality of work and professionalism is obsolete.  I had a 30k+ pool renovation that they made a nightmare, details below.  I could not regret more, choosing them to do my renovations.  There is no upside to using Caribbean Blue Pools, I urge anyone considering pool renovations to skip them.  They do not care about you as a customer and will take advantage. **Update** The leak that Ken "fixed" did not hold and I will have to rerip up my finished pool for the 3rd time.  Ken failed to property renovate the pool and pressure test the lines before starting the renovation (which is the industry standard for a non working pool).  I messaged him to work through this and he did not respond.  I had an outdated and not working pool in the house I recently moved into.  I know nothing about pools and reached out to Ken to do a full remodel (tile, plaster, lights, equipment, etc) everything to get a pool up and running.  Ken reassured me that he had 20 years of experience and that they were fully competent to get my pool up and running. I cut a check for 10k and they got going.  He installed the equipment and contracted the tile and plastering out to another company.  When they finished and went to fill the pool, all the problems started.  The pool would not hold water and my yard started flooding.   Ken requested the reaming 20k for a "job well done".  I let him know that my pool was not working and I was not comfortable paying the full amount.  He lost it on me and told me that he has done his job and demands to be paid in full.  I paid for the work and proceeded to watch my BRAND NEW pool drain and flood my backyard.  I had to hire a third party leak detector that informed me a have a pool leak under my brand new pool deck.  I reached out to Ken multiple times and he told me "This isn't my problem your pool never worked when we started on it". I called him to talk through the situation and knowing nothing about pools, felt extremely helpless.  He LITERALLY laughed at me (I have this recorded) saying this is why I have my contract about testing for leaks before we start our work (Ha,ha,ha).  You have 20 years experience Ken, if you're so proud of it, use it to inform your clients of work that needed to be done! He admitted knowing that there was an issue with the hot tub holding water but failed to rely the importance of this to me before starting.  He also did not pressure test the lines before starting the work.  This cost me having just completed my full renovation (deck included) to have the brand new deck ripped up along with the brand new tile of the hot tub. The issues only furthered from there.  The leak detector informed me that the equipment that Ken with 20+ years of pool experience installed, was done incorrectly.  (Video here: https://youtu.be/4rjEOiIEPjE)  He did not ground my pool equipment and even left the equipment unbolted to the concrete slab which would have broke my pipes.  Leaving pool equipment unbonded is illegal.  Ken just did not want to do the work, due to the ground wire being harder to find.  I would NEVER have known that my equipment wasn't even properly installed unless I had been told (Ken knew this and never mentioned it to me!). The leak detector had a tough time locating the leak and Ken demanded that he speak to the leak detector.  Ken suggested digging into the floor of the brand new hot tub to look for the leak.  Unfortunately, this wasnt were the leak was and Ken's suggestion ended up costing me an additional $400, which he charged me to fix!  Thank you! He then wrote up a quote to fix a new targeted leak of the pool.  This was finally finished and supposedly I have a working pool.  Shockingly, the pool is still not holding water and I have the leak detector come back out.  I come to find that I also have a bad drain, plug and multiport valve that need to be replaced for another $500.  This should have been caught during the entire equipment revamp.  Ken also charged me an additional $1,500 to fix a leak that he suspected was there before starting the work.  I am also still waiting and will have to pay to have my brand new deck fixed due to this company's negligence. Do not trust them with large jobs.  If you want someone to just dump chemicals in your pool and collect your money, feel free but leave the large work for another company. read more

We've been using Caribbean Blue for years. The new office manager Katy has a very aggressive attitude and an air of entitlement around her. Janet was way better to deal with, she had a general concept of customer service, rather than the customer is always wrong attitude coming from Katy. They overcharged me for pool service after we had our pool resurfaced, and I got quite an earful from her about how they were entitled to charge me double the normal cost because they hadn't serviced my pool while it was being resurfaced. Never mind the pool had been maintained and there was no lapse in maintenance--it was just from a different company that came with the pool resurfacing. I should add that I had tried to give the business to Ken, but he never completed the estimate that I requested. Begrudgingly, they credited the difference after a heated conversation with Kathy, where it was made clear to me that new customers would be treated better than I was. Last year, they started automatically pre-treating my pool with algaecide without my knowledge or consent. When I told them to stop and that I wanted a credit for the service I did not authorize (I offered to pay material costs), I got emails full of explanations as to why they wouldn't do that. Lots of excuses. $27/month on top of normal maintenance fees, with no consent. This is for $2 of materials that they unnecessarily added to my pool. Oh, and they hiked up the prices without discussion--with autopay I didn't notice this inflation. Their published rates are not their actual rates. Plus they charge illegal late fees--and don't call if there is an issue with auto pay. It's one thing to have price increases--but to sneak it into the bill and add on things not requested and not disclosed, that's another. Add on top of that an office manager who doesn't answer questions directly and claws back whatever she can, that's a hard pass from me. I suggest you look elsewhere too. read more

Just wanted to write a quick review for Ken at Caribbean Blue Pool. I've owned a Maytronics Dolphin Pool Cleaner for about 3.5 years and it stopped working this past weekend. The life span on these cleaners can range from 2-6 years so I figured my time had come up. I stopped by the shop ready to buy another one when Ken mentioned an easy fix to a common issue they see with the cleaner cable connector. I came home and tried Ken's recommendation and my cleaner was back in service. I can't thank Ken enough for his honesty and willingness to offer some tips to extend the life of my Dolphin. When it comes time to replace my Dolphin I will definitely go buy one from Ken. You don't see honestly like that very often. Ken could have easily sold me a new one but he did the right thing. Rough experience. We had them service our pool since April 2013. We picked them because the were servicing the pool from the previous owner. So the Good: They were responsive when we had issues and the folks we dealt with were very nice. So, now the Bad: Our pool pump was getting really loud, so we used our home warranty to have it repaired. Well, the repair man let us know about other issues with the pool and equipment. They let us know that our service company should have told us about that. About that same time, we got algae in our spa, just after servicing. In all fairness, we were doing biweekly service in the summer. However, thing seemed to pile on, pump was previously repaired incorrectly, system was leaking, skimmer basket was cracked and algae was infesting the pool. When we contacted them, and documented our expectation, Ken then owner really pushed blame onto his employees, which I was not impressed with. We had another pool company come out and test the water and inspected the equipment and the report was not so go. We lost trust with Caribbean Blue Pool Service and decided to move to a new company. When we notified Ken, we were belittled and one comment that he sent us was "I am sure that I will survive without your $20.oo profit each month." Guess we made the right decision to move on. Again, they did a good job, but it felt like they did not have attention to detail, and once we found out, they were not happy with us for pointing it out. When you are paying for a service, you hope you get your moneys worth. I don't think we did with Caribbean Blue Pool Service. I had Caribean provide an initial quote and it was very competitive for weekly service. My pool was cloudy and way out of balance. A week later it was crystal clear. They took very detailed notes on the first visit and have been great to work with, very nice people!!! They are flexible and will use your chemicals or theirs, again great prices so I use theirs!!!! We have used CB for years. Have had different technicians over the years...some better than others. For the last few weeks we have had Jeff and he is wonderful! Last week he called (multiple times to ensure he reached my husband or I) because our back door was WIDE open! He also took note that our dogs were no where to be seen. We don't have tiny dogs.... We have very large dogs who like to relentlessly bark at Jeff the entire time he is here. For him to call out and make sure they were ok was above and beyond (and brave!). He closed the door and continued to call us to make sure the dogs were with us and didn't get out and were roaming the neighborhood. We appreciate the complete care taken by Jeff and our pool has never looked cleaner! Thanks Jeff! read more

As stated, technicians are great but Ken is downright rude and disinterested in trying to make the clients pleased. He charged my parents full price and labor for a part that was supposed to last for years and it went bad within months. When my sweet mother asked for some type of compensation Ken was unwilling to even allow her to explain the problem. Saw on another post that they are reusing old pool parts from other clients; that makes sense and I hope you do not give Ken and his company a chance to help you. read more

I love the fact that this is a local, family owned and operated pool company. I estimate that I have known Ken (the owner) for at least five years and I have always known him to be amazing to work with, professional and very friendly. I have also referred many of my clients to him over the years and each and every time his company has done an amazing job and my clients have thanked me profusely for the referral. We had a very bad experience with Caribbean Blue. We gave Caribbean Blue 5 months to show us what level of service we could expect from them and in that time, the owner, Ken showed us what an unprofessional company he runs. After we fired them, Ken complained that they couldn't control algae in our pool because they were only coming every two weeks. Yet they never ever suggested to us that we should have them come every week prior to us firing them. We also learned that Caribbean Pool uses used parts and charges the customer full price. We are in a dispute right now over the last invoice they sent us. We had a cracked pump basket that they failed to inform us of which caused our pump to go bad and we had to pay another company to replace our pump motor due to Caribbean Blue's lack of preventative maintenance. Caribbean Blue replaced a pump valve gasket in May that needed replaced again 4 months later because it was a used part and the valve was leaking again. We are so happy that we left Caribbean Blue Pool Service. Especially after the nasty emails that the owner Ken sent us after we left. This was the email that we received from the owner, Ken Cargill. You guys are unhappy because there is a little bit of algae in the pool, yet you kept our hands tied by only letting us come by every 14 days when the temperatures were reaching over 100 degrees. Why don't you ask anyone else if they can completely chemically balance a swimming pool coming only every 14 days. Since you are such a spaz about your pool. I think that "you" should check the chemicals everyday to make sure that your new pool company is doing with Their supposed to do. I guarantee it is a lot harder than it looks. You would have to go out almost everyday and check chemicals and add chemicals to get it to balance out the way that "you" want it. It's very clear that you have been taking advice from someone who wanted to take our job. good luck with finding perfection. I have been doing this for 30 years and we service more pools in Lago Vista then anyone else with an A plus Rating at the BBB. We have thousands of happy customers and we try as hard as we can. Caribbean Pools is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was with a company before that did a good job but then they wanted to charge me $3000 for a repair, and I just couldn't believe I needed what they said. I had Cariibbean Pools come out for a repair estimate and it was $250. Ken, the owner is very hands on and came out the first time to set everything up. He has been out many times since, and has helped me last minute so many times! How often does that happen with the owner of a company. Katie, in the office, is simply amazing with getting back with you and scheduling a service call, or answering a question. Caribbean Pools is very dependable, and the pool cleaners are very personable, and good at their job. For example, just last week my pool guy saw a large package sitting in the rain, and carried it in, put it under the porch so it wouldn't get wet and where I would see it. He didn't have to do that, but it is a perfect example of the service I receive from Caribbean Pools. The good and the bad. They were my pool company until last week. The good is they are honest and have very good technicians, especially Cole. Their prices are fair and billing system works fine. The bad, they have become very busy and a last month I got stains in the pool due to their guy shocking the pool and leaving the filter timer off for twenty hours. They dont think it was their fault, I do. Another time I got algae, just one week after they cleaned the pool and had to run to Leslie to eliminate it since I had a pool party within 24 hours. Never even report this to them since I didn't want to be the "annoying client". Other than that they were always here timely and did a good job. read more

When we first bought our house, I did all the pool maintenance myself. This lasted until I found myself spending more time f**king with chemistry (a subject where, ironically, my grades were at C level) than doing what I enjoy in the pool: floating about aimlessly, drinking beer and listening to tunes. The first company we hired were less than stellar: didn't show up on time and did a really shite job of cleaning. After our home warranty company assigned Caribbean Blue to fix a mechanical problem, I asked the tech if they did weekly upkeep and maintenance. When he said yes the other company was fired quicker than a clumsy porcupine in a condom factory. While Cole was fixing the problem he asked me to do two things: 1. Don't touch anything. 2. Enjoy your pool. No problem there brother! Forced to use these folks due to a home warranty policy. First experience, they charged fees they were not supposed to and took FOREVER to order a part. We eventually got the money back that time. Second experience (again, we were forced to use them) they did absolutely nothing and charged a credit card even though we cancelled them through the warranty company. They did not contact us until 4 days after being dispatched (supposed to be within 24 hours) and then TWELVE days after that they still had not even ordered the part (yet they billed the credit card). We bought a house four years ago that had an existing pool. Starting last year, the pool surface starting chipping off. Ken gave us an estimate that was thousands less than his competitors. He was able to completely resurface our pool, replace the tile, and perform the startup on time and within budget. Our pool looks brand new! Our pool is old, and Cole knows what lasts and what don't. He gave honest opinions about what should be replaced and what should be fixed for cost effective solution. I have had my pool for over 10 years now. I have been using Caribbean Pool Service (Ken & Cole) for about 7 or 8 of them and although they are not English majors with emails, they do know a lot about pools and have taken care of me in my times of need. They are fair and honest. I don't hesitate to call them when needed. Having a pool, they are needed regularly throughout the year. They don't clean my pool but they do everything else in regards to maintenance and replacement of parts, even a new heater. I appreciate their Service. Are they busy at times, yes, but that is a good thing. read more

I can't say enough about the service from these guys. I've had them out serveral times for pool equipment related problems. They have always been prompt and provided great service at a fair price. Recently we came back after a short trip to find the pump inoperable, and the pool turning green. I was convinced the motor was burned out an told them to bring one out and replace it. Cole come out the next day and determined it was just a starter condenser not the whole motor. Not many businesses I've dealt with in the repair industry are that honest.
