Despite the (understandable) legal precautions, the process was smooth, fast and simple. They were very helpful through to the cashing out process and didn't make me feel unwelcome for being new. I would come back here if I had more items to scrap. I also checked prices online beforehand and what they paid seemed reasonable to me.

Republic Waste Services Is NOT the right choice for residential trash removal. I have been a…read morecustomer for 13 years and have paid roughly 50% higher rates to this company rather than going to the competition. STEVENS WASTE is the better choice. There customer service is much better and the cost is much lower. On average, I have spent $100 more per year for the last 13 years that I have been a loyal customer at Republic. They missed pick up 3 times and were confrontational with us when we called. Made promises but did not follow through. Of course I have now moved to STEVENS WASTE. After calling Republic to pickup the rash can, we were told that it would be done on a specific date. Well, that day has come and gone. They did show up and emptied the can that had nothing in it though. After calling the company, I was informed that it will be done on Monday and that they will be charging me $30 to pick up the can. REALLY. I have paid about $1,300 more to this company than I would have paid STEVENS over the last 13 years and now they are dinging me for an additional $30? Well, as President of the Homeowners Association there will be no more Republic Waste on my watch. The last neighbor will be canceling this coming week. As a retiree, I have nothing better to do with my time than to make this happen throughout the township in which I live. I got the run around for about a week, until they ultimately told me that after providing them with detailed transcripts of my checking account as "proof of payment" it would take 8-10 weeks to receive my over payment back. If I could award them zero stars I would, and if I could go with a different company I most certainly would. But unfortunately they have a monopoly in my area, which explains why they're such a horrible company. Avoid GFL at all costs, as they run a terrible business at their best, and are a group of unscrupulous thugs at their worst.

But back then you had to sort by type, plastic - ONLY 1 and 2, paper, cardboard, glass - separate clear, brown, & green, and metal. You also put stuff in separate dumpsters. But now you just dump everything in the same one. No plastic bags or number 4 plastic better known as styrofoam. It was great when I moved to Southfield 20 years later that this community service is still there. You can drive up, park and take your stuff to the dumpsters. Quick and easy. Wonderful for those of us that live in apartments with no recycling. WTF, shouldn't that be required in the 21st century. My visit there even allowed me to talk to another human being, at a very save social distance. I guess that is what the 21st century world has come to.
