Now we have been with ECS for 3 years and our family loves this school. The staff is absolutely wonderful with the children and we couldn't wish for a better school. The school does a wonderful job hosting activities and functions for the whole family to enjoy and feel welcome and part of the ECS family. Since deciding to join this school, my family has also joined the Escondido Christian Church family and we have been accepted and loved with open arms. We are so grateful that God has introduced us to the ECS/ECC family and couldn't be happier here. It's more than just a school--it's a faith-centered community where Christian values are lived out daily through prayer, chapel, and encouragement. The teachers and staff are incredibly caring and teach with genuine dedication. With smaller class sizes, they provide individualized attention, thoughtful accommodations, and meaningful challenges so each student can succeed at their own level. The strong curriculum, combined with a close-knit, family-like environment, has helped my son grow tremendously in both confidence and character. I've always felt supported as a partner in his education. Grade-level field trips bring classroom learning to life, and opportunities like sports, music, and STEM programs help students explore their interests and build confidence. Community events like the Harvest Festival and Car Show create a welcoming atmosphere and truly make Grace feel like a second family. Most importantly, Grace provides an excellent Christian education in a loving, nurturing environment. I'm grateful for the positive impact they've had on my son and highly recommend Grace Christian School to any family seeking strong academics, faith-based values, and a supportive community.

I went to Calvin from 6th grade up to 10th grade, before finally opting to transfer to a nearby…read morecharter school. Calvin is a small school. It has grown, but it's still small. There are benefits, of course, such as small class sizes, individualized attention, and open dialogue between teachers and students. However, it also has its downsides. Please look at this list of criteria (created by me): Is your child considered "troublesome"? Is your child struggling with any sort of mental health issue? Is your child not Dutch/Caucasian? Is your child not a teacher's pet? Is your child not often a popular kid? If you answered yes to any of those questions, Calvin is not the place for you. I am not a troublesome student. I graduated high school with a 4.11 GPA. I got A's in almost all my classes no matter what school. However, I did struggle with my mental health starting freshman year, which is ultimately the reason I left the school. I received the label of being a "depressed kid" and was never able to shake it, and I ended up taking that on as my identity. I transferred to get a fresh start from the teachers and the students, and I did much better once I didn't have that label following me. There isn't blatant racism at this school, but in my class all the Dutch girls sat together, and all the non-Dutch girls sat elsewhere during lunch. I am not Dutch, so I sat elsewhere. The Dutch girls didn't say you couldn't sit with them but weren't welcoming to any newcomers in their group. There were no other friend groups in that grade. That's also pretty much how it went for every grade. Calvin has diversified since then, but the saying "if you ain't Dutch, you ain't much" is well-known and I would say it is true. All the Dutch students were favorited by the teachers as well, but that's because most of the Dutch kids had their parents go to school there, so they were really just "legacy" students who were automatically favorited. The trick for getting good grades is to be a teacher's pet. If the teacher doesn't like you, you're screwed. I was a teacher's pet, and I was able to finagle my way out of several bad grades by gaining sympathy from the teachers. If you're not a teacher's pet, Dutch, or a popular kid, you're going to have to do a LOT of hard work to get good grades that other kids get simply by having parents who went to the school. Most of the teachers were amazing. Shout-out to Mr. Marriott, Mr. Bakker, Mr. VDP, Mr. Beutlich, Mrs. Lapka, and Mrs. Lundgren. They made learning fun and were genuinely such kind-hearted people. I always felt safe around them. However, as with every school, there are teachers that aren't great. The history teacher, when I was trying to explain my ADHD to him in regard to the accommodations plan I had, just kept telling me, "Oh, it's like my tinnitus". He also refused to accept my accommodations plan to break up a 100-question test into two parts. When my mom reached out, he told her that the class has a B average, she's never taken the class, and would I be receiving a modified diploma? I took an incomplete for this class and retook it my senior year at my new school. I got an A+. Also, they do present that 100% of their students go off to college. However, that's not actually true. I had a friend who ended up faking that she was going to go to college (she wasn't) so that it would look like she was in the graduation ceremonies. They even got her college merch from the college she was supposedly going to attend. I would have never known had I not been close friends with her. This school has its secrets. Teachers were quietly removed from the school for reasons that were pretty big deals, such as inappropriate communication with students and emotional outbursts at students. As for the principal. I thought he was great... because my beliefs aligned with his and he took pity on me. Yes, he does meet with students with the blinds open for all to see. We once all saw a student get his backpack searched for drugs in the office. Whether or not he had drugs, the blinds should have been closed. His office is in a common passing place so everybody can and will see. The principal seemed to like me a lot, so we got along and I liked him, but I can see how others wouldn't like him. He is adamantly anti-LGBTQ+, which can be expected at a Christian school, but he expressed this in an unkind way. God still loves those that are LGBTQ+ and this principal did not express that. Last thing! I hope your kid loves public speaking. My class had to give 7-10 minute speeches with no notes... apparently, this is not a thing in public schools, and my class was graded quite harshly. Anxiety was not tolerated. It's good to learn public speaking, but 10 minute speeches without notes on subjects kids aren't passionate about? That's harsh, especially for sophmores. This was for sophmore year. I am ultimately glad I left this school, but I believe others can thrive here... just check that checklist!

And a special thanks to Ms. Martina, the incredible director, whose leadership and care are felt throughout the school. Escondido Christian Preschool beautifully upholds strong Christian values and provides a loving, structured environment. I felt completely at ease dropping my daughter off every day, knowing she was safe, supported, and truly cared for. I would recommend this school to any family looking for a Christ-centered, nurturing start to their child's education.

They made a temporary spot for him while I had an extended hospital stay and my younger son had a NICU stay. I was so nervous to enroll him in any sort of day care since he had been home with me until that point, but had no choice and heard great things about the ITC from the preschool director at our home church at Emmanuel Faith. Ms. Martina called us and gave us a tour and my mind was instantly put at ease. One of the best features of the school are the small class sizes. There were 6 children in his class and 2 teachers. I could tell that Ms. Des and Ms. Rachel really cared about his growth and development. They let us know what they were working on with him and celebrated whenever he mastered a new social skill. They updated through the Brightwheel app with photos and his daily sleeping, eating and diaper change schedule. He did daily arts and crafts and had lots of sensory play. When I got out of the hospital and did daily drop-offs, I'd see him squeal with excitement as he approached the classroom, ready to begin his school day. It made me so happy to see him come out of his shell. It was honestly really hard to say goodbye to this place and I can't thank them enough for taking such great care of my baby during such a difficult time.

There's everything here as far as extra curricular activities and more for middle school.. ASB, theater, and lots of exploratory classes throughout their years here. It is not a bilingual school as another student stated in her review. As for math, there's a placement test required before entry to the school. Based on this, you're placed based on scores. The other days are at home or on campus Mondays available to students who need extra supports from teachers. The IEP services are also provided here.. in person and not online. There's lots to say but I think that's a decent amount to share. Feel free to PM if you have more questions.

I was not properly informed of the bell schedule, and the reasons that it was different on the first day. The assistant principal read my schedule and sent me to the wrong class. I missed a whole period - thankfully an elective - and sat in a study hall that had more students than seats. They were actively bringing in tables so that they could have a seat for everyone in the study hall. This should not be happening on the first day. Initially, I was supposed to take Math 2. I was priority enrollment, and tested into this. The administration claimed there was no room, and placed me in Math 1. Math 2 was not an option on the course selection. I was then placed in virtual Math 2. During my study hall, the link that was supposed to come up for a recorded class never came. I sat in study hall with AP bio homework that I was supposed to have over the summer. When my friends at the Studio campus texted me about their AP bio homework, I had my mom call the office to make sure I didn't have any at PLC. The office said there was no summer work. This wasn't true, and I only got a huge packet of summer reading on the day before school. While other people had already completed this, I was left behind. During lunch, there were so many kids that there was no room at the very few tables provided. Open tables either had no shade source, so were burning hot, or had a broken umbrella. During Gear Up Day, I was given the wrong information regarding school computers. An adult told me that if I was a Workshop student, that I could bring my own computer. My family ended up driving back to the school, because this information didn't match up with prior instruction. I did end up needing a school computer, and was only set up with Canvas a day before classes. Nobody had said anything about the app before this. I was incredibly excited to start this high school after a wonderful middle school experience at The Classical Academy Bear Valley campus. This school was not at all what I expected, and extremely disappointing.

CAHS-PL is the type of school where if you do your work, you WILL pass with AT LEAST a B. That is from a combination of excellent teaching, engaging work, and non-excessive knowledge. All the people I knew that got anything lower than a B were people who didn't really do their homework. I learned a decent amount of things - not enough to overwhelm me, but not enough to forget too many important details. Everything here was super easy compared to private school, as a junior and senior it was nice to still earn good grades but not have extreme amounts of work to do. When I was in the middle of college application season, I had a college counselor there tell me that CSUSM was impacted and it might be hard to get in. My weighted GPA was a 4.11, so I'm not sure where that came from, but it did stress me out. I was accepted in less than a day. My schedule was great. I didn't need too many credits so senior year I was at school 10.40am-2pm and it was amazing. If you're looking to make friends and have a social life, don't go here. A lot of kids just want to come to school, get their work done, and then go home. Most of my friends left before lunch, so I just used that time to do my work. If your kid works well on their own, this is the place for them. I highly recommend. It is 3 days a week, which is cool. I would get all my Monday and Friday work done on Friday, and then have Monday off! Or vice versa. It can be done, but I'd say around 3 or 4 hours of work will need to be done over those at-home days, but that's barely anything. I loved here, if this seems like a good fit for your kid, please send them here!
