I'm unfortunate to have inherited my mother's dental problems, and along with it multiple cavities, root canals, and other forms of medieval torture. This had led to an all too common dread whenever dental visits came due, even for routine care. This has now changed thanks to Dr. Perez and his wonderful team. My dental hygienist Gloria has the hands of an angel and the most delicate touch ever. My anxiety the first visit could be felt a mile away. I dare say I felt almost relaxed my most recent visit. I had a crown done with my last dentist (and a root canal with her referred endodontist). This led to months upon months of pain far worse than the pain I had before the root canal. I had to go to a different local dentist to fix the problem, but it took months to get an appointment. Expectedly last month I had dread when I was told I needed another crown. I wasn't in pain, but my previous dentist had done such a deep filling that I knew the tooth wasn't going to last forever. They advised a crown before the tooth cracks unexpectedly. I just had it finished yesterday and my mouth feels 100% normal. Dr. Perez was extraordinarily patient making sure to get the fit and bite just right. I've sent so many people to city dental. Everyone always thanked me for a referral. The reason why we were so loyal was because the owner was reasonable. Now it just feels like a shiesty operation. One of my bottom teeth were in pain, and she did immediate x-rays. Idy couldn't pinpoint what was causing the pain, so her and the doctor were going to look into it and let me know the following day. It shows how much she cares about helping her patients. I feel at ease when she cleans my teeth, and she doesn't pressure me into buying tooth products. Dentist put in temporary glue, but put in so much it overflowed over my gums and tongue. It caused the bridge to not fit right, so he took the drill to reform the bridge. I left and called as soon as I got home, and arranged a return visit asap. Went back and they wanted to charge me $400 to fix what I already paid $200 for. I only had a small piece of my tooth chipped and went in expecting to have it repaired with a filling. Instead, I was told that I needed a root canal and a crown, which would cost nearly $4,000 with insurance. They also presented me with multiple payment plans. On top of that, they told me that I needed two bridges for the teeth next to it, suggesting that otherwise I could lose my natural teeth. That treatment was quoted at nearly $6,000. Without insurance, they told me the total could be around $17,000-$18,000. What made me even more uncomfortable was that when I said I wanted to get a second opinion and compare prices elsewhere, they told me to call them afterward and let them know what the other dentist charged so they could see if they could match the price. This made me seriously question their recommendations and whether the treatments were truly necessary. I then went to the dental office where I had previously gotten my teeth cleaned, and their assessment was completely different. They told me that I only needed a filling. They explained that the chip was very close to the nerve, so if I experienced significant pain after the filling, I should contact them because further treatment might then be necessary. They charged me only $175 for the filling plus a $50 fee because I didn't have an appointment. I also asked if there was anything else I needed to take care of. They said I had four other teeth that could eventually use fillings, but none of them were urgent or dangerous, so I could take care of them gradually. The total for all was about $2,100 without insurance. I'm not a dentist, so I can't say for certain which treatment was medically necessary. However, the huge difference between the two evaluations and prices was enough to make me very uncomfortable. But even so, the wait never feels too long. During the visit, the hygienists were polite and talked me through every step of the cleaning. They also worked with me in regards to getting x-rays done on my teeth for the first time, and were so accommodating when I asked for modifications due to my thyroid. When I needed work done on my teeth, Dr. Kamel throughout explained what needed to be done, how it would be done, and what timeline I should consider to ensure that my teeth are getting the best care. My needs came first whenever I got dental work done as they would check on my comfort level, ask if I needed any changes to the procedure, and ask if I was okay after it was done. And as someone who hates tooth drilling (a lot), they make it easy! There was no mystery on any procedures or their cost. The office is very upfront. It is also easy for me to make subsequent appointments because the office staff guided me on what dates/times are available and work with me to see what is best for my schedule (the appointments aren't that long either). I live up north and consider it well worth the travel. The location is great too since you can go and shop right after you're done, or visit some shops before you go in. It's worth it if you're in the area!
