The live-fire portion of the class has each student matched up with an instructor 1 on 1 (this is a huge benefit for those people who are a little unsure about firearms). A follow up night of classroom instruction features a unique opportunity to have access to a Wilburn Police officer (in my case he was a Detective) to ask questions of. I appreciated this portion of the class because it allowed me to ask questions about the interpretation of Massachusetts firearms laws directly to an officer of the law. I had very little experience shooting firearms before enrolling in this class.

This particular club was founded back when Woburn was nothing but fields. The original building itself still stands and is absolutely in use today. Now, it's a bit cramped in that neigborhood - condos and office buildings are nearby. But there is a surprising number of indoor and outdoor ranges here. 2 of which are open 24 hours a day! If you need to take a gun safety class: This is where you want to go. The volunteer staff here are absolutely the kind of people you want teaching you about the proper safety and respect to be used around firearms. Their knowledge and attitude are awesome. AND - this particular gun safety class allows you to actually fire several different guns - which not all gun safety classes do. I feel it is absolutely essentital! Not to mention - fun! The club is great - the members are great - the facilities are great. We are lucky to have this place in our neck of the woods!

The old two-stall basement pistol range, in Grandpa's dirty house is a relic. But at least it's cheaper than taking the kids to Disney's HH. The outdoor 'skiter range is poorly kept, with no steel, and no rapid fire. I like the bad looks I get from the neighbors though - gives it more of that tactical "behind enemy lines" kind of feel.

Compared to other ranges it's not very large. They have a decent indoor range that's open till 9pm and a 100 yard outdoor range that's nice. It's not very technologically advanced. The indoor range is done by a hand pulley system and you are only allowed to shoot at the targets if they are all the way out. It's also only 2 stalls. The whole range is paper targets only. And the outdoor range is nice but you are only allowed to fire controlled. No rapid fire allowed. This range is more for the older crowd. Shotguns and .22 type crowd. If you are looking to practice tactical shooting (police and military type shooting) this is not your place. They are very strict on that. If you want a place to zero you're hunting rifle or do .22 shooting with your kids then come here. The outdoor range is on a swamp so it's very mosquito ridden in the summer months. The residents around the range don't seem to like guns either and are always complaining about the noise. Just an FYI.

The worst customer service experience that I've had in my life…read more This training center is so uninterested in communicating with customers that the quality of their services is COMPLETELY irrelevant. I got my certificate from them a couple years ago when I applied for my FID. It's a long story, but I need another copy of certificate. I go to their website to lookup my info to see if I'm in their records, and find out that I need to contact them for a manual search. No one picked up when I called with the phone number on their website, and no one replied to my voicemail. I found a second phone number, which gave me the same results, but the voicemail message told me that the best way to reach them is over text. I try sending a text to the number, but it doesn't deliver. Eventually I found an email address to try. I never got a reply. Then I tried DMing their official Instagram page. No reply there, either. I decided to stop by the facility in person to ask them about my certificate, and also why they so hard to reach, and the place is locked during the hours when the website and google maps claims they're open. I showed up again and FINALLY caught them when they were actually holding a class. After telling me at first that they didn't have my certificate, with enough pushing they finally pulled it up. Then they had the nerve to charge me 20 bucks to print a copy. I hope that this is enough to deter you from giving these people your money, but maybe all you care about is the quality of the training itself. So, how was it? Fine, I guess. Sort of. A good sign that you can trust someone for advice about personal safety is whether they're in somewhat healthy physical shape. My instructor (both 4 years ago and now) couldn't self-defense his way out of a narrow doorway. Along with his neglect of fitness, I also distinctly remember him saying not to carry Glocks because they don't have manual safeties, which is ignorant and outdated advice.

I wasnt sure this was going to be for me at first but I came out with a good understanding about safety and importance of the smallest details in an arena I had no familiarity. This one also gives useful information that one will need and use after getting a license. Well worth it!
