The restaurant was closed at The Vermont country store so we came across the street for sandwiches. I had country ham and cheese on white bread, lettuce and tomato. The bread and veggies were fresh, the ham was tasty but I was disappointed with the size for the price. There was very little ham and it came with nothing.....for $9.99. So add in a tiny bag of chips for $2.99 and your sandwich+ chips is almost $13.00.( I was not looking for an overstuffed sandwich, just more than a couple of ounces of meat). Wow . What a store ! We were driving back from Vermont to New Jersey and stumbled upon the store on the way... it surely is a hidden gem . They not only have a lot of gifts and collections, but also have a store that sells cheese and fudges.. and of course they have a great sampler so people can taste it and buy the best.. we tried jalapeño cheese, and it was truly magnificent... Women selling the cheese was so patient and smiling.. They had a wide range of fleece T-shirts and Vermont magnets and other gift items... they had some fleece on sale and we got it for 14.99. It was worth it... not sure if they are new or used ones but they looked clean.. parking outside is good.. overall had a very good experience... thought of giving a four star, but this one sure it deserves a five star... read more

Terrible service. Bought many items through years of visiting multiple times a year. Rude. Not helpful . Actually ordered cheese and fudge as the order and personal stayed shipped anywhere. Cheese came and was black throughout. Called the store spoke to owner who was very rude and discussed how he's not making anything off the shipment. He stated to try and scrape the cheese and eat it.... Black inside not on sides. He was rude and refunded money and hung up on me. I will never shop there again! read more

Seems to be a regular issue with this place, based on other reviews I read. Very rude people, especially when you order online. Major lack of compassion, and pretty much don't care about the customer. Maybe it's time to retire and pass the torch to someone who truly cares about the business? In person the store itself is very nice, and lots of great items; and for that part I would give it 5 stars. But customer service is VERY important, so my experience with lack of friendliness in store and horrible experience with online ordering, brings it down to a ONE for me. read more

Cool general store across the street from the Vermont Country Store. It's smaller but offers some cool items and foods. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. They have free coffee too! I got a cup of chili for lunch and it was delicious. read more

Such a cute place!! Fit the country ski Vermont vibe very well. We got some fun souvenirs, & fudge and dip- maple of course! Maple fudge, Heath fudge, and maple bacon dip! The dip ingredients looked all natural (just variety of spices) which was a plus. read more

Definitely worth a stop. It's a nice little general store with a little bit of everything, ranging from necessities, to souvenirs, to gift items, to a food counter, to cheese and fudge. There is a little something for everyone. We didn't eat anything here during our visit, but the food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great. They are generous with fudge and cheese samples, with a good portion of the latter being from New England. I'd like to go back when I have more time to poke around. read more

Just to clarify, my visit to the actual Weston Village Store was delightful. The store is huge and I spent a lot of time there and lots of money close to $200. My problem with the store began when I decided to buy online. I loved the cheese and their fruit spread that I wanted to order more. When I received the package the cheese was wrapped in a plastic bag with one cold pack that had of course melted and was warm. The cheese as you can see in the photos were molded and smelled really terrible ( not like normal cheese mold and smell). They smelled like a dirty wet moldy towel. We even attempted to taste it and we had to spit it out. I emailed the store sending him pictures and mentioning that a cold pack thrown into a bag is not the proper way to ship cheese. I received a response that was very rude, he basically said that there's nothing wrong with that cheese and that I can eat it and that they know how to ship cheese. Then he had me ship the cheese back to him knowing that when it arrived he would just have to throw it out since it was: a) opened, b) spoiled especially by the time it got back to him and c) he couldn't sell it anyway due to covid. He made me ship it back and pay for shipping so I can get a refund. I had spent almost $50 on cheese so I had to send it back. He said he would refund and pay for "freight" but I only received the refund for the cheese and not the shipping. I emailed again about the shipping reimbursement but I didn't receive an answer. Who does this? Why would he deliberately hurt his own business to make me send him back spokes cheese he would never sell? I'll never shop there again or online. This person has no integrity and vindictive. Beware of shopping here. read more

The quintessential rural New England general store. How I love it! The eclectic mixture of shlocky postcards, moose-themed coffee mugs, old biscuit tins and antique clocks. Banality and little treasures all jumbled together and presided over by a gruff but warm old Vermont couple. When you stop in, which you should, make sure you buy some fudge. Contrary to popular belief, you are never too old for fudge, at least I'm not. The dark chocolate fudge was exceptional. Other local treats like the delicious cheddar cheese and maple sugar candy also cry out to be purchased. And bring back a sample case of the local Long Trail ale to your beer snob friends in the city! read more

Weston Village Store is the best country store in the vicinity, in my opinion. I visited a few other touristy style country stores while visiting Vermont and I felt that Weston was the most welcoming, had the best prices, and had a nice assortment of items from postcards and t-shirts to hand crafted items to fun food items like Vermont cheese, fudge, and locally made products like salad dressings and marinades (and of course maple syrup). I bought several souvenir items when I stopped at this store. I found prices to be very reasonable and we found a few items that we had not seen in the other shops in the area. The store is also fun to walk around in and browse. It definitely has an old country store motif and vibe. It feels like not much has changed inside or out in quite some time, which makes the store quaint and cozy. It is definitely worth a visit, especially for the prices. Service was friendly. The man behind the counter seemed pleased when we told him that the Weston store was the favorite one that we visited. It was nice that he seemed genuinely appreciative of our feedback. If you're on your way out of the state and think you won't run into anywhere else that will sell souvenirs, then this place probably has a thing or two you could take home. Customer service is NON EXISTENT here and talking just a basic hello or even acknowledgement we were there from ANY of the employees. The woman reading her magazine didn't even look up or grunt when we came in and the guy who was pounding away overhead and then seemingly trouncing around in front of us on purpose never once said a word either. The store is good to get souvenirs for visitors, and has everything one can ask for in that regard. I had fun discovering many things in the store. However, the customer service was the absolute worst that I have ever experienced. My boyfriend and I bought many gifts for family and friends. At checkout, we asked the cashier to give us 4 extra paper bags -- in order to present each gift in a store bag. However, as we were leaving the store, we realized that the cashier made a mistake and overcharged us. We politely said that there seemed to be a mistake. At this point, the owner / manager came to the counter and brusquely told the cashier to cancel the entire transaction and start it over -- instead of cancelling the one extra item in question as she initially intended to do. It was also at this point that the owner / manager asked the cashier why we had extra paper bags, and the cashier told him that we had asked for them. He proceeded to tell us that each bag cost him 50 cents, and he usually charged for the extra bags. He re-scanned all of the items and the extra paper bags while repeating that they cost him 50 cents each. Even though we returned to the store because of the cashier's mistake, the owner / manager felt completely comfortable charging us for something that the cashier never asked us to pay for in the first place. Once again, this was her mistake as an employee of this store, and it is inconceivable why the customers would be made retroactively responsible for this mistake. Not only did the owner / manager or the cashier never apologize for the cashier's mistake, but the owner / manager was clearly displeased and made us feel as if we had done something wrong. Although we felt very uncomfortable, we still kept our composure to say "thank you," when he handed over the new receipt. Surprisingly, he didn't say anything. We looked at each other amazed with this remarkable reaction and left the store. In the parking lot, while my boyfriend was double-checking the receipt, I looked back the entrance of the store and, lo and behold, found the owner / manager himself standing outside, looking at us. This experience has affected me deeply as we never received an apology and were treated ridiculously and unpleasantly. I still don't understand why the owner / manager followed us and watched us leaving. This store has great products, but the customer service is an embarrassment. read more

Store is great but had an awful experience with there Christmas store next door. The clerk at the Christmas store kicked us out before we were done shopping,(we probably would've been no more than 10 mins) and we were ready to purchase several items. Needless to say we bought nothing and when I verbalized my opinion on lack of customer service with this clerk she informer me the owner was next door at the main village store. When I told him what happened he did offer an apology which was nice but I was really surprised that he had a lack of any emotion and that he never offered to finish any transactions with my wife and I at his Christmas store. I've never experienced customer experience like this before and hope I never do. I do not recommend either of these establishments. read more

I like the Weston Village Store. It's always worth stopping both here and the Vermont Country Store across the street when I'm driving into the state. Some of the prices are better than the store across the street, which is one reason to stop in, but the Weston Village Store really has its own charm with fun knick-knacks, retro-themed gifts, scented soaps and candles, and of course, Vermont maple candies, cheese, fudge, and other goodies. The floors and stairs are very creeky, which adds to the character of the place. There are a few samples in one part of the store, but it's in a small area, and right next to a register, so it's tough to get through sometimes. (On my last stop in, I skipped the samples because the wait was backed up.) The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they're actually visible throughout the store. There's a snack bar to grab a hot dog or some chili if you're hungry, and lots of fun sodas to the side of it. When I stopped in last weekend, I picked up some candy, soda, and a pickle, and left pretty happy. Note: There's a bathroom downstairs, but it's in the cellar, so you have to go through some storage, and you'll hear everyone walking around upstairs. read more

The store is smaller and a bit more rustic than The Vermont Country Store. Likewise,the apparel is more along the lines of tourist sweatshirts and tee shirts. This store has a much larger selection of White Mountain puzzles than the store across the street.
