I've been to this market twice and each time I leave impressed. Last year we stopped for lunch and had some pretty good sandwiches and this year we stopped just for a snack and I had the Earl Grey Sugar Cookie. Absolutely love this market! They had such a great selection of local items, wine and breakfast! We ordered some breakfast sandwiches here and chose to eat there at a fire they had going outside! This market has a lot of things pack into a small place. I love their apple cider and cookies. My husband got the turkey pesto sandwich and soup and he loved it. I wanted to get another sandwich without pesto or cheese but they can't customize it and I don't eat cheese. This market and deli is just too cute for words! I mean, let's be honest, the food pickin' is slim up here in Grafton, but MKT is still incredible by any size town means. The deli offers delicious, fresh options for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. The salad I scarfed down was perfectly made of tasty ingredients. The next day I returned for a hot breakfast sandwich. It, too, was perfectly made. I'm not sure how they get the English muffin to be so puffy and chewy, but it was one of the best breakfast sandos I've ever consumed! My friends and I also appreciated the pantry items and treats for sale. These items made great souvenirs to accompany our Vermont visit! read more

Stopped in for lunch and wow! This place has some of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. Combine homemade bread, like literally baked in house, with Vermont cheese and you are already 90% there for an epic sandwich. I went with the Roast Beast, which combines roast beef with real caramelized onions. This was jaw-droppingly good. I am having unhealthy dreams about this sandwich. My husband and I were spending our first weekend in Vermont for his 45th birthday and originally wanted to stay in Grafton, but ended up in Chester. There was a wedding in town, and everything in Grafton was already booked. Since I'd read amazing reviews about how lovely Grafton was, we decided to drive the short distance to Grafton, to look around and grab a bite to eat. I'm so glad that we had! The MKT: Grafton was on our list of places to visit after reading reviews. Let me just say that the photos and reviews do not give this place the justice it deserves. If you are a fan of yesteryear, this is your place. I literally had felt like I'd been sent back to my childhood, to a quaint little country store that had stood the test of time. It was absolutely charming. First off, the building is adorable. There is a country screen door on the front porch, which is aligned with wooden benches. The upkeep on the building was impeccable. We walked inside and looked around at the availability; mainly wines, bottled sodas, salted snacks and sandwiches. They don't have a large menu, as this isn't a full service restaurant. There are some pre-made sandwiches or you can choose to customize a sandwich off the limited menu. My husband and I decided to split a sub sandwich, called "The Sub", which was $10.99. The sub was: Ham, salami, capicola, provolone, hots, black olives, tomatoes, shaved lettuce, vinegar, salt and pepper. They split it up for us and we each got a little chips on the side and a pickle spear. It was more than enough for the both of us! They do not skimp on the meats or veggies! Our sandwiches were thick, hearty and delicious! It goes without saying that they only use fresh, local ingredients and it shows in the taste; it was a real value for the price. I would go to say this was the best sub sandwich I'd ever had! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful September day; the weather was perfect and the leaves were just starting to change over. We chose a table outside, under the trees. Service was exceptional! Staff were so sooo friendly. I didn't want to leave. I could have sat there for hours just enjoying the quietness, the simplicity and beauty. If I ever visit this area again, I would definitely stay in Grafton and visit the MKT: Grafton again! And I have already recommended it to my friends and family...it's a true treasure! read more

As the only market in this charming town, this not-huge store boasts an impressively wide array of diverse items, from artisanal pastas and olive oils to small packets of aspirin and other household sundries. Most items are of the high-quality variety, including a wide assortment of Grafton cheddar, a great selection of wine and local beer (and maple syrup, of course). The deli/cafe features some great lunch options. Fresh soups and salads, along with numerous sandwich options. The grilled cheese made with the aforementioned Grafton cheddar on sourdough is just amazing. We frequented during our visit up here - between shopping to buy stuff to cook in, as well as just stopping in for their lunches, this place makes one stop shopping seem high end and desirable. We stopped by for a quick lunch while driving to Canada. The town is super cute an charming but everything was closed. We ended up at MKT and got a delicious lunch. We had the beef and barley soup and a beef sandwich. We also had coffee and tea. The staff was very friendly but the food was slow to come out. We ended up browsing the local goods in the market while we waited. We found things from homemade gloves to powdered goat milk. We are our food with an appetite - my soup was hearty and warm. Everything from souvenirs to groceries to local selections, and even a menu of items like sandwiches and pizzas - they really have a lot to offer! If you're in town for a weekend or a few days this will definitely become your go-to stop. All of the employees are kind, and I found their prices on food and the selection to be really fair. Their pizzas seem to be a big seller and they looked tasty. I opted for sandwiches made with homemade bread and local Grafton cheeses, and those did not disappoint. We ordered the takeout dinner from Grafton MKT as part of the select menu via Weston Playhouse's One Room. We ordered everything: Crisp Tartlet, Beet Salad, Ricotta Gnocchi, and Saffron Chicken. And it was ALL delicious! Having a few dinners over the past few months as take-out, you realize how many dishes just don't travel well but these were all exceptional. A true treat. Best sandwiches! We went to Grafton for The galleries and lunch and MKT was open. What a gem!! I had the ham based sandwich with Grafton cheese, apple and honey mustard and my boyfriend had the turkey cranberry, mayo cheese and maple bacon sandwich. Super fantastic! The staff were super friendly offering is help with directions. The seating was rally nice, casual and relaxing after a big hike. The bakery goods looks fantastic but we didn't partake--Whoopi's pies, cookies and chocolate muffins were hard to pass up. Bravo! Wonder what mustard they used in the sandwiches? It was so good. We found ourselves passing through Grafton again and stopped quickly to get a drink and some cookies - Oatmeal Chocolate Chip & Ginger Molasses - both of which were quite good and only needing a small bit of finishing salt. We noticed a lot of what looked like Chicken pot pies coming out of the oven - which looked kind of appealing. If we didn't have plans to stop at a Chicken Pie dinner later that evening we may have tried one. They were made with a puff pastry crust. We also tried two apple cider doughnut holes - which were very dry and hard/stale tasting. To be fair - dougnuts have a very short shelf life out of the fryer so our expectations weren't particularly high for them. They had a good flavor, so we suspect that if they were just made they would be very good. One thing we are starting to really appreciate about MKT Grafton is that there seems to be a rotating selection of (baked) goods available. Every time we stop in there is something new for us to try. As I have said before - they know what theyre doing when it comes to baking, which is more than I can say about most places in SoVT. We come here - maybe 45 minutes for us - over several other closer BAKERIES because their stuff is worth the commute. Maybe next time we'll try more things off their menu :) read more

There is also freshly baked goods and breads. Their chocolate chip cookies are out of this world. They were the size of my head, but did not give up in quality to gain the girth. Their freshly made sandwiches were excellent and fresh. The Beast was kicked-up by an amazing batch of caramelized onions and a crunchy exterior to the pressed (fresh) bread. The curried chicken salad, which was a special, was a nice play on a classic. It was also served on a very buttery and golden brown brioche bun, which I would've enjoyed even by itself. Best sandwich ever, This is a small market in Grafton Vermont that is really not much to look at from the outside, but WOW, one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The staff was super friendly and helpful, my Girlfriend and I were just traveling thru this quiet little town and stopped to get a bite, we asked a local person where we could go and they directed us to the market. We got there late in the afternoon, and they said they usually stop making fresh sandwiches earlier but they could make us a couple now.
