We came here to entertain our kids with icecream for a few minutes and left here an hour later with memories that will last a lifetime. I hope Taylor Farm is around forever! The sweetest souls work here and the animal feeding area/petting zoo is incredible! When you arrive at Taylor Farms, you step into the cute little country store stationed at the beginning of the farm. The store is stocked with farm products like yummy cheeses and icecreams but also food and home products from local businesses like soaps, etc. My daughter picked out a scoop of her favorite VT icecream, maple walnut and wandered the store. I stumbled upon the "feed our animals" station near the store exit. You can buy the farm animals food and feed them yourself! The store associate welcomed us to go see the animals even if we didn't buy any food for them. You could tell she really loved them. We bought a variety pack for the animals which consisted of carrots, an apple, a bag of homemade cheeseits, and chicken feed (corn meal?). My daughter had a ball feeding the donkey, cows, chickens and cat! We had a ball watching her experience new things and support a local farm! We hope to come back someday soon! read more

Today was absolutely magical at Taylor Farms! The horse drawn sleigh ride felt like we were in a hallmark movie. The horses were beautiful and well taken care of, the sleigh had wool blankets and we purchased the s'more's and fresh bread and cheese picnic basket to eat by the fire we stopped at during the sleigh ride. The owner John was our host and he was the sweetest nicest man, he provided us with the history of the farm and his fun personality made it all that much better. His sis MiMi is the voice you will hear as you book your sleigh ride and she was great with explaining the whole process. They have the cutest little country store that we bought a bunch of local made items from. Overall I would rate this a 10, my family and I loved everything about Taylor farms! If you go to southern VT, it is a must to go explore and support this wonderful farm!! read more

Awesome real working farm. The farm animals roam free and eat lots of hay. :-) They are also super friendly. One of their black horses came right up to us to let us feed or touch him. So cool. He even licked me. Eek...but funny. I got a nice photo of that. This is one minute from the Swiss Inn Hotel where I stayed for my ski trip. It's a family owned and operated farm. They offer fresh honey, cheeses, and groceries in their mini-marketplace. They offer seasonal entertainment ... just check out their FB page or their website for more details. I was here during Presidents Week (Feb. 2017) and while normally freezing in Feb., we lucked out and had nice weather. It was 40 something degrees when I ventured over to the farm. For the Winter months, sleigh rides are offered but reservations recommended given this is their busiest time of the year. The sleighs can hold up to 10 people. Each ride is about 45 minutes with a nice hot cider break; blankets are available on the sleigh for the cold months. The horses that pull the sleigh are so majestic and strong. The farm really takes care of these animals. They all look healthy and have beautifully groomed manes. I would definitely recommend this place as a pit stop while in VT (minutes from Stratton Mountain and Bromley). I bet it's even nicer in the Spring/Summer months. I would totally come back here. Side note: while I was too full to eat the cheese I bought on site, we ate it once we got home and their gouda is the best. It was creamy and milky, and super fresh. Loved it. read more

Such a cute place to visit. They have free feed for the animals inside the store. $1 donation fee. Baby cows, giant pigs that roam the grounds, goats, chickens and horses. On rainy days the grounds do get VERY muddy but a great place to visit! read more

What a beautiful day my friends and I had at the farm. It was great to explore the farm and feed the animals. They had ducks, cows, chickens, pigs, horses and just about any other farm animal you could name. Great fresh food and ice cream. Dylan from the farm was also incredibly nice and showed us around the farm. Such a bummer that COVID is going on, apparently they have some amazing parties and concerts throughout the summer. This place is definitely a must see in Vermont. Such an outstanding day being outside with my friends. Plus it was free to walk around. We will be back when friends come to visit us! read more

On the ride home from Manchester, I saw a sign for cheese and baked goods at a farm stand and thought, oh lets check that out. So we turned up a dirt road to the Taylor Farm. A large red barn with signs for its offerings was where to go. Inside you could instantly smell the barn smell. I saw some home made baked goods on a wagon in the center. There were big jars of home made chocolate cookies so I got one of them. I also checked out the large selection of organic honey and maple syrup. I needed honey so got a small bottle. They had a good selection of cheeses with samples out at the register. I would of gotten some cheeses but passed cause I was a few hours away from home and couldn't refrigerate them right away. I just noticed they have a website and you can get it online. The lady at the register was pleasant, as was the older gentleman selling wooden spoons. Outside a lazy dog lays enjoying the country life. Just the perfect scene you really appreciate when you come from the city and realize how simple life is for some. My husband and I were both blown away by Taylor Farm on Saturday. In the time since we've returned from living in France we have hunted and hunted for real cheese. We've finally found it and we're going to keep buying it. What we hadn't counted on was the kindness of the family running Taylor Farm. They welcomed us completely and unassumingly, we had an impromptu fantastic tour given by their family friend; we saw the operation, and I was kissed by a playful young calf. The cows are friendly, the barns are clean (for barns, & I know barns), the hay they're feeding is sweet and good, the people are welcoming, and the cheese is, of course, unspeakably delicious. I wish my writing could convey what my taste buds were experiencing. We had a perfect visit and cannot wait to return. Regarding winter: I really want to go back for a sleigh ride. If we get up to Manchester for skiing we won't pass that up! read more

While waiting for the Bromley ski lifts to get fixed, we took a short drive to around the area and stumbled upon Taylor Cheese Farm. There are an array of live chickens dancing outside the shop, and you can buy a cup of feed for $1 and watch them swirl around you anxiously. Inside, there is a selection of cheese, soy-based hygienic goods, and of course, maple syrup! They had small, shot-sized containers of syrup ($4) which would make for perfect souvenirs! When I went, there were two types of syrups left: grade A dark and grade A amber, so I got two of each. They also sold postcards for $1.50! The best part of my experience occurred when I was perusing. I saw a pack of mushroom-themed playing cards that was called "fungi perfecti" and was immediately intrigued. A lady then popped up next to me and said she used to have more for sale, but they sold out during the course of the last few years :( I asked if she knew which mushrooms were edible, and she proceeded to spread out the deck of cards and categorize them based on edibility (is that a word???). I was interested because I had just came from a botany trail and had taken a bunch of pictures of mushrooms. She identified my mushroom as a pearl oyster 'shroom! She was a delightful lady who had been collecting and consuming mushrooms for around 45 years, and we had great conversation about the native flora and mycology. When she went to ring me up for the syrups, she also recommended a barn to rent for the summers when the water is clear. I'm really glad we decided to stop by- thinking about my experience here makes my heart warm! read more

I knew this was a special place from the moment I walked in the door. A friendly greeting welcomed us as the farmer played his fiddle in the back room. At the farm, they make their own cheese - most of which you can sample at the counter. I liked all the flavors of gouda that I tried, especially the smoked. The store sells a variety of other Vermont classics, such as maple syrup, although they don't make it there. We were invited to walk around the farm and feed the animals. We were even able to see the farmer's daughter milk the cows. Taylor Farm is a 'must-see' if you're in the Bromley area. read more

A fantastc, warm, family working farm. We went on a cloudy day and took all of the kids. We were there for about an hour and a half. They had wonderful farm animals for you to pet or brush. You can also purchase feed to provide the roaming animals. We saw chickens, pigs, horses, donkeys, cows, goats and a scottish highland cow. All of animals were super friendly and the folks there encourage interaction. The store was great we bought syrup, honey, Cured meats and a ton of cheese. Their gouda was so great. We made mac and cheese with it in the evening. I highly recommend wearing mud boots and bringing hand wipes. It's a farm at the end of the day and you'll get muddy but the you'll have fantastic memories. read more

If your driving through the Vermont Countryside and see "Taylors Farm Cheese" make sure you stop. I was hesitant to pull over at first but so glad I did. I parked my car and was greeted by a four year old little boy sitting in front of the farm store with a smile and " Hi". This little boy gave my friend and I a tour of the farm including chickens, quail, and a few small calves roaming around two "tiny houses". _ After my tour the little boy took us into the farm store. I was able to sample gouda and smoked gouda at the register. I wound up buying the smoked gouda because it tasted so good! Make the stop. Its worth it. read more

One word for this farm: FANTASTIC Cute farm animals - lamb, cows, dogs, chickens, etc. SO friendly and they just want attention! The shop is very cute and simple. I bought a few of their cheeses including the maple Gouda. I have not tried it yet but I am sure it is amazing! The woman that was there was also baking cookies so we were able to grab nice warm cookies on our way out. It's a very simple and quiet place. In all honestly, I never expected to enjoy the farm this much especially since I am a city girl. But if you like farms, animals, and delicious cheese, this place is a must! I just learned this about my friend Jon's farm: Dear Taylor Farm Supporters and Customers, It is with great sadness and humility that I tell you all, The Big Barn at Taylor Farm has again fallen down as a result of extreme snow load. The Barn had collapsed on February 7th, 2009 and again came down this time on February 6th! Conditions were very similar to the last time with prolonged cold and a good deal of snow. Despite good efforts to keep up with snow removal, remaining snow slid from the East side and not the West, creating a tremendous uneven distribution of weight. My good friend and employee, Randy Stannard was trapped under falling snow and, although nothing was broken, as he said, he feels like he was beat up by ten bad guys! Another good friend and ex-employee, John Michalski was also up at the barn at the time and quickly came to Randy's aid. I had to sell about twenty cows immediately to ease the situation here and will determine over the course of the next few days, how to proceed. My immediate sense is I am too young to give up and too old to change! My sympathies go out to all our farmers. We are under very difficult physical and financial burdens. There have been many other tragedies this winter with the fire at Pete Green's and numerous other barn collapses. Please friends understand how much these farmers contribute to our local economies! Not recommended. Took our 4 year old to feed the goat (after buying food for the animals and being given a brush to brush the goat). I fed the goat while my daughter tried to pat her. The goat was not friendly at all and flipped her head around and bunted my little girl to the ground. After that she was petrified of touching any animals. I am from a farm and know that goats can be temperamental animals, but I would never recommend anyone pet and brush one that was aggressive. We were also disappointed their were no cheese samples in the store and no welcome on the way in. We were only greeted by flies at the entrance to the store and a worker that quiet clearly didn't want to be there. read more

This is a great stop if you are into agriculture tours. We got to see the cows milked, pet some of the animals, and sample cheese. Plus my boys got to feed a bottle to a piglet which was very cool. This review is specifically regarding the cheese from Taylor Farm. There is another listing for Taylor Farm which seems to focus mostly on the farm experience, highlighting sleigh rides and some of the other experiences available at the farm. The Taylor farm cheeses are all goudas. We sampled their regular gouda and their maple smoked gouda. The regular gouda was as expected, somewhat bland. We had much higher hopes for the smoked gouda, however, it turned out to be no better than the regular gouda. While it was not quite as bland, it was still bland and the flavors did not work well together, making it somewhat funny tasting (not in a good way). Each of the cheeses suffered from this and I cannot recommend these cheeses. read more

I had an amazing experience at Taylor Farm!! Although they were not making cheese the day I visited, Mimi kindly talked to us about their process and all the things that go on at the farm. The visitor experience is completely unstructured and free flowing - you can wander around the farm, viewing or petting the wandering animals (dog, lamb, calf, donkey, guinea hens, chickens) and observing the animals within their fields or pens (cows, pigs, horses, and even two highland cattle!) The cheese is delicious and the store also provides an abundance of other treats such as eggs, milk, syrup, jams, etc. I could not have asked for a more lovely visit! read more

After an unfortunate accident left me unable to hit the Mt Snow slopes Day #2, we decided to spend the day exploring Manchester, a quaint little town 50 minutes away from Mt Snow. We traveled down many snowy, unplowed dirt paths to get brunch at Up for Breakfast and visit Taylor Farm Cheese. The farm is open to visitors year-round and is one of the attractions on the Vermont Cheese Trail (ask the woman at the front for a map!) Taylor Farm actually makes their own cheese on-site and they offer tours on the weekdays. Sadly we went on a Sunday, but the woman at the front register was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions we had about the cheese making process. They allow you to sample a few cheeses in the storefront, and we ended up buying some delicious aged gouda, Vermont maple candy, and homemade hot cider to battle the cold outside. They also sell raw milk, maple syrup, jams, and farm fresh eggs. You have the freedom to wander around the farm and visit the various farm animals. There were quite a few pigs, chickens, horses, cows, and even a highland cattle (which was strangely munching on hay outside of his cage). We also played fetch with an adorably friendly dog who kept running towards us for attention. The farm offers sleigh rides during the winter time for $20. We passed on the option but did spend a few minutes taking pictures of the beautiful, majestic horses attached to the sleighs. This rustic experience was a nice break from the busy hustle and bustle of city life, and it really reminded us to to take a step back and enjoy the simpler joys in life. read more

I'm writing this review after eating Taylor Farm cheeses for the past week and still loving every bite of it. We visited Taylor Farm last Friday on our way into Vermont for the weekend, and it was just a lovely place. We were greeted by a bunch of chickens and a farm cat hanging out near where we parked, and we walked into the tiny shop at the front of the farm. There's really not much to the place, but that's what's so nice about it - it's simple as it gets, cozy, and welcoming. When you walk in, there are baked goods, some fresh milk in a cooler, cheeses and yogurts from other local farms, plus Taylor Farm's own cheese, which are also out to sample. We tried their gouda, which was delicious - just enough bite and perfectly creamy. They were out of their maple smoked gouda, which was a little disappointing, but we were able to find it at another retailer during our trip, and it was also delicious - creamy like their regular gouda, but with a lot of smoky flavor. I have to admit, I like their regular gouda better, but both are very good. From the farm, I bought a wedge of gouda plus a pickle from a big jar, said goodbye to the farm cat and chickens, and left very happy. 4 stars for the nice place to visit, bumped up to 5 stars for the cheese. read more

We went for the gouda we read about online and were not disappointed. A small shop features many varieties of their cow's milk goudas, yarn spun from their speed, and goods from other local farms that they love. We really liked the classic gouda and happily purchased a small wheel of it. I also picked up four skeins of yarn that was dyed and spun by a friend of the Taylor family. I love this place. Excellent cheeses, great local products, sleigh rides in the winter and chickens! and cows! and goats! Last time we were there, they had a bunch of new born calves (youngest was barely a week old) you could visit, and when I stopped to chat with one of the workers one of the goats tried to get her nose in my pockets in search of snacks. (and yes, I am one of those ridiculous city-slickers who is enchanted with farm animals). The people who run the place are lovely. Go. Buy some cheese. And say hi to the chickens for me. read more

Completely inappropriate and unprofessional! Pre-booked a party of 22 for a wagon ride on New Years Day. Called back again 3 days prior due to a large snowfall. Was told they needed to split the party up into 2 groups at 2 different times, we agreed. Called back the day of the event and was told they never booked the group at all and although they apologized. Was told that they could take 12 people at 3:30 or try another day. I asked if they could switch some of the bookings around in light of the mistake, was told if I didn't take the slot at 3:30 for 12 people that they could easily book it with another party because they had a wait list. I told them I felt that was an inappropriate comment in light of the situation and they hung up on me. Called back to see if we still had the party of 12 at 3:30 timeslot and the woman who answered said they would not book our party at all. I asked if we could book the following day and she said they would not book our party at all. This certainly broke the hearts of the children and parents who anticipated this event for weeks. For those of you that love, and I mean LOVE cheese, and you are in this rural part of VT then you owe it to yourself to stop in here. This is the way people should be buying cheese, straight from the people that make it. My Best friend and I discovered this little place while we were trying to find the Southern Vermont Artist Center. We were just driving along Route 11 and my best friend sees a sign that said something about raw milk and homemade cheese; the slight sound of squealing brakes and a bit of whiplash later we were parked on the rough stone drive and she was out of the car taking pictures of the chickens. A warning to the prissy types: this family owned and operated working farm that produces and sells delectable goodies, smells like a farm. Shocking, I know. I mention it only because that is the first thing I noticed when I got out of the car, but in my opinion it only adds to the fact that this place is awesome. Inside the awesome little red barn like structure that is littered with quaint signs for homemade ice cream and such, you find cheese. Lots and lots of cheese. The good kind that is covered in, not plastic, but wax. Om nomnomnom. You also find: - Local honey that puts those plastic bears filled with honey that you buy at Whole Foods to shame - Home spun and dyed yarns - Beeswax candles - Hand blown glass orbs - Homemade cookies, scones, breads, granola - Organic chocolate - Fresh herbs - Homemade soaps - Locally made potato chips - Hand knit hats that look like the top of and eggplant or blueberry - Hand carved walking sticks - Maple syrup There are lots more things in here but my brain started to shut down at the sheer volume of awesome that this place exudes. If we hadn't been five hours away from my house and looking for a completely different place that we eventually got to half an hour later, I would have bought (at least one if not 30) wheels of either the Maple Smoked Gouda, or the Nettle Gouda. I was able to sample both and they were both some of the best things in the entire universe, but I didn't want it to go bad, because that is a travesty, i don't care what you say, so I ended up purchasing some honey, a jar of homemade organic salsa for the boy (oh yeah, they also sell homemade organic salsa!), a little glass sun catcher, and a few other things. The woman that was behind the counter was super helpful and really nice. A HUGE added perk is that they accept Visa and MasterCard. This fact comes in handy because everything in there is very reasonably priced and thus you want to buy three times as much. They also have a darling website that I plan on buying cheese from come the holiday season so that I can wow the family with the delicious New England cheese-ness. The pizza was good, but not sure if it was very sanitary. None of the people making the food were wearing gloves. Their hands were dirty, and didn't wash them. They handle food bear handed.
