Finally! I have been back in the area for two years checking out a bunch of different barbers. It got to the point where I was just letting my hair grow out because an unruly cut was better than some of the stuff I was getting from other local barbers. It really is true that you get what you pay for, but in this case I got a lot more! Marlisa was professional, courteous, and meant to cut hair. It's evident that her prior work as a carpenter has prepared her to be an artistic barber who gives high-quality haircuts. I feel like I FINALLY found my barber. As far as the cut goes, it's exactly what I wanted. My hair is somewhat difficult to cut because it's thick and long on top but I have a fade on the sides. Finding a barber who specializes in clippers as well as scissors is a lot more challenging than you might think. But Marlisa is an expert in both and it really showed in my haircut. The experience was also a premium one. I was offered a beverage as soon as I walked in, my coat and hat were taken to be hung in a coat closet, and I was walked over to the barber chair. The shop itself is really clean and modern with good music playing, and a tv. Marlisa offered a hot towel shave with a straight razor and cleaned me up with a hot towel at the end. Spectacular! Nice setup inside the salon (driveway entry is a deathtrap but what can you do) Andre did haircut and beard trim and I thought it was nice but the fact that I got compliments from multiple people makes me think this was better than just nice Hot towel and straight edge razor will make you feel groomed and pampered. I am brand new in Westport, so I had to find a place to get my hair cut. This place was close to where I live, and as an architect I liked the look of the building. The interior was great, with a young, hip vibe. Cathy, the owner did my cut on my first visit. The cut looked great. Most importantly, before starting we had a chat about what to do with my head of very fine blond hair. I told Cathy what I had had done at my previous salon of 25 years. She recommended getting rid of the part for a younger look but agreed with going very short on the sides and back. I plumped for the full-service cut. In addition to the cut, I got a neck shave, shampoo, blow-dry, and style with soft hair gel at the end. I quipped at the end that she had taken 10 years off the way I look. I was one satisfied customer. During the cut we had a great conversation, for me one of the most important components of any visit to a hair salon. I got to know a little about her story and she about mine, just like neighbors. read more

I'm new to the area and trying to find a good barber. I decided to spend a little more than I usually would in the hopes that I'd have better luck finding somewhere decent. They offered me coffee, beer, and whiskey when I came in at 1:30pm, which is a little weird but it's a nice perk. The barber, however, was pretty out there. I told her I had a mole on my scalp to be careful off and she just straight up said she was going to end up catching it with the comb because she wouldn't remember. She then started cutting my hair with the cape thing unfastened, getting hair all over my shirt and down my neck. I had to remind her to close it. After the haircut I got a shampoo from another person which was lovely. I then went back to the barber for a neck shave and upon seeing my hair when wet she decided to start cutting again, and this time the cape wasn't even on at all, so I had to remind her again. All that aside, the haircut is not good at all. I used to part my hair, which I mentioned when she asked me how I style it, and now it's the wrong length and I can't. It's just generally shapeless and odd lengths that flip up in every direction. read more

I've been indulging myself in face and head shaves for the past 20+ years and actually have a barber in each of the cities I frequent during my travels. Although there is a Kennedy's All American Barber Club in my town, I made the trip to Wesport to check out Wesport Cut & Shave and very happy I did. Cathy, the owner, did an amazing job and is definitely in top of her game. Most barbers will use Wilkinson, Derby or Gem blades in their straight razor---these blades might fine for some but if you're one who's been using a straight razor for years and is looking for a similar BBS shave, these blades are definitely low end in terms of sharpness--was quite surprised to see Cathy using Feather Pro blades in her razor---these are quite expensive especially since she can only use them for one shave----however, they provide the smoothest shave possible and my head and face shave did not disappoint. I'll definitely be a regular and look forward to my next visit. read more
