Nice little hidden gem. My wife and I needed a quick getaway and this was perfect for us. Price was reasonable and our hosts went above and beyond. The coffee tray with pastries in the morning were an added bonus. In the morning we took a quick walk around back to some amazing views. Many thank you's!

Our group actually filled up all the rooms, which made it feel even more enjoyable. The hospitality is top notch - especially Katie, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable in every way! My husband and I stayed in their Rose Room and it was the perfect place to unwind after a full day of festivities. The oceanfront balcony connects to the next room (where my parents stayed hahaha) and we loved being able to stargaze at night and watch the sunrise in the mornings. One of the highlights - freshly baked scones and coffee delivered to our door each morning. I've never had a proper scone until this weekend.... they were perfectly crispy on the outside, flavorful and not too dense. Breakfast in the parlor was another treat - always beautifully prepared, delicious, and such a lovely way to start each day with family. We also appreciated how they had an EV charger, which saved us multiple trips into the next town (20-30 minutes away). We even went for a morning run along the coast and the views at sunrise were unbeatable. + the in-house dry sauna was SUCH a treat. Overall, this was such a special stay. We truly felt like we were on vacation ourselves and can't wait to come back someday soon!

You then later have a full breakfast served to you down in their beautiful lobby. This service really helped my husband and I slow down and enjoy the day. Their pub is also absolutely gorgeous! It is truly something to see, if only for a quick drink. The food is fantastic! I was also lucky enough to get married in Westport. We used the hotel to house my family. They were so accommodating. We had the rehearsal dinner at the Hotel as well. They were an absolutely pleasure to work with. They went out of their way to ensure the flowers, menu, and overall feel would match the wedding. There was not a single detail overlooked. I cannot say enough great things about this place.

Let's be clear: the number of stars here isn't indicative of a four-star hotel. But overall it didn't disappoint. GREAT view and the sound of the waves crashing outside were high on my amenity list. The unit itself is pretty bare bones. Cheap but comfortable furniture. Kitchen has pretty much everything you'd need to cook. Bed is okay, maybe a little hard. Really hot showers, which was nice. Managers are super nice and 100% responsive to any needs. We got one night free bc of their spring special, which bumped it up a star for us. Would I recommend it? Yes. Would I HEARTILY recommend it? Probably not. But I have no complaints.

I was here right around solstice and so the day was very long and by the time it was too dark to enjoy the view it was bedtime. The hotel managers were friendly and kind and helpful. This place is walking distance from Gyppo the local favorite brewery. And also right on the lower Pacific Road which runs along the ocean. Close to Mal Combs Park. I absolutely recommend this place to anyone wanting the experience of sleeping right next to the ocean. You could hear the surf and waves all night long. It lulled me to sleep.

My sister and I managed to squeeze two nights in at the tail end of the season--and we made every minute count. Our little cabin was just right: warm at night, with a kitchen that made it easy to whip up meals. I've been coming to this river for nearly half a century--my ex-husband's family owns the place across the river from Big Bend Lodge--so spending time here always feels like hitting "rewind." But sharing it with my sister this time, among the redwoods we both grew up loving, made the experience feel brand new. Paul, the caretaker at Big Bend, was wonderful: generous with his time, ready with advice or a story. Big Bend is the ideal place for a family gathering. There's a huge fire pit, ping-pong, hammocks, chickens, and of course, the Eel river. Brighter rivers might exist somewhere, but I doubt there's anywhere on earth more beautiful than this stretch of water amongst giant old growth redwoods. .

It's the type of vacation where you really get to enjoy life and truly 'vacation'. No cell, no tv, nothing is 'jacked in', you are free to just completely exist without the ties of our modern, every day life. I LOVED IT! This is a 1940's era motor lodge set in a deep ravine. Upon stepping out of your car you are immediately transported back to a different time. There are only 10 cottages of varying occupancy. A communal fire pit, horseshoes, tire swing, ping pong, dirt-pad Basketball court, a million bikes, a hammock, volleyball court. When I stepped out of the car, I felt like I was in a 70's summer camp movie, half expecting some big haired guy with cut off jeans and no shirt to step out of a cottage (that happened later). My kid immediately went wild, exploring and mingling with the other kids, playing and having fun. I got to enjoy the hammock with an adult beverage. Short walk to the private beach and even though CA is in a severe drought the swimming hole is still sufficiently filled to allow for cliff diving from a 5 foot height. A couple of early teen boys were enjoying themselves doing that. My kid and I floated in the inner tubes provided. The water is crystal clear. Beautiful and relaxing. The cottages are small, decorated mid-century modern-ish. Basic and clean. We stayed in the dog friendly unit of which there are two. They allow dogs off leash. Your dog can wander around like she owns the place. We love dogs so it's fine with us. The first night we were there only 2 other cottages were filled and the kids immediately bonded and hung out. The second night we were there we were the only ones not part of a group from the Bay Area that had rented out the entire place (except for our unit) as they do annually. I got the distinct impression that this happened a lot. This place is filled with friends that come up as an annual tradition. I hope to gather a group of friends and start a new tradition too! Seriously, in case you missed it. There is NO cell service and no tv. Some of the Verizon customers were able to receive calls but not call out. There are modern electrical outlets so you could cheat and bring a laptop with movies. We did, but didn't use it.

We recently married in August 2025 and we wanted to get out of Los Angeles and see the Redwoods for our honeymoon. We were looking for quiet, peace, and nature. We found a small piece of heaven, a glimpse into the garden of Eden or at least the ranch in heaven! THE ROOM: We stayed for 4 nights and had the most relaxing time together. Let me start with the room. My husband called and emailed as he was able to see pictures of the rooms to help make a decision. We chose the Captains Quarters and it served us perfectly. We had access to the jacuzzi, a very private room, and the most serene view. The inn was so well kept and the attention to detail was very much appreciated. I pray it stays like this and they keep investing in the upkeep as it was well maintained and we loved the craftsmanship. We loved the decor of the room. I didn't even think twice about a tv. There is no need for television with a view of paradise through the window. THE PEOPLE: We were so blessed to have Colby hosting us at dinner time each evening. He went above and beyond to help us have privacy as we dined each night at a newly married couple. He worked very hard and was exceptionally good and professional at his job. He kept the fireplace going each night for us, talked with us when we engaged conversation, was polite, respectfully, and made us feel very comfortable. He recommended and made great drinks, and helped us with some exploration tips around the area. We made it to the Avenue of the Giants, the tide pools, Mendocino, and a few other local places like Fort Bragg and the Skunk Train. Colby made us feel at home on the ranch. Clancy gave us an amazing UTV tour. His knowledge of the rich history of the area and deep passion for what he does made the trip all the more special. He showed us great sights and if we had more time, we would have definitely done the picnic next time. What he does on the trails to maintain and create them is incredible. What a job to maintain the land. Also, I loved being able to meet and pet his dog! THE FOOD: This is where I was blown away. I thought we were coming for the view, but had no idea the food would be just as stunning. Chef Nick Wells, you are a culinary genius. We were so grateful to have the opportunity to meet and speak with Chef Nick. He, too, was familiar with the surrounding Los Angeles area and so it was great to connect and to share our appreciation and admiration for his talent and creativity. He was so down to earth and friendly. The food was next level. We did both the ranch supper and tasting menu. We originally only had one dinner planned, but after tasting supper we canceled all other dinner reservations and made sure to come back each night for the food. Literally, we reworked our plans to come back and taste what creation he had planned for the evening. It was one of the highlights of the honeymoon and it really gave us a chance to connect as a couple. Side note, we fell in love with the bacon each morning- just incredible. I woke up looking forward to what feast awaited us at breakfast! What a treat and a great way to start our day each morning with a hearty feast. THE EXPERIENCE: The views not only from the room, but the ranch itself were breathtaking. I am used to Southern CA coastline with homes and businesses lining the beaches. Here, a person can breathe. This is how it was intended to be. I am so glad The Inn was kept to the number of rooms it is and that they haven't expanded to some big hotel. It would lose the magic and wonder. I loved that the dining experience was just for guests and there was no traffic. It was intimate and made us feel a part of the ranch. I really valued the experience. We worked very hard to be able to have this experience. Being able to appreciate the land, the trails, and the history of how Mr. Wilson wants to keep the land as was well worth it. The lodge itself was gorgeous. From the stained glass windows at the entrance to the garden and the trails with such special views, I was overwhelmed with beauty. We were so lucky the flowers called "Naked Ladies" which only bloom for about two weeks each year bloomed while we were there. Those pink ladies were gorgeous. THE FUTURE: We are starting to save now for August 2035 for our 10th year anniversary. We look forward to what awaits us down the road when we visit again! Please don't change. Thank you for everything!

We were excited to come after getting jealous from watching Reels on their Instagram, and boy- visiting in person was even 10x better. Would highly recommend going in the "Bay Area summer" of Sept/Oct because the weather was unbeatable, not a cloud in the sky as we enjoyed the pristine, awe-striking CA coast. We stayed in the Hearthstone Junior Suite and had our own private jacuzzzi underneath the stars. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and the drinks!) were Michelin star-worthy, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (special shout out to Misha and Timmy who were especially accommodating to my service pug, Gus). The menu for each meal consisted of fresh food directly from the ranch. The creativity put into dishes honestly had me shocked that this place doesn't have a Michelin star already. SO so so delicious. 6 out of 5 stars. The Inn at Newport Ranch is like a secret gem, but I'm not going to gatekeep its beauty. CanNOT wait to come back soon!

The Inn Keeper, Tanya, was extremely attentive and helpful in answering our questions. There are multiple fire places for warmth and ambiance. The jacuzzi sits on the second floor with three huge windows surrounding it. It was all very luxurious. Including a gorgeous, East-Asian, hand carved table and chairs, Thai or Indonesian possibly? Long enough to fit 16 people!!! It was just the two of us so we ate comfortably at the large kitchen island. Last, worth mentioning was the dedication to historic sailing ships of various early eras. Each window pane adorned with several and a stout model ship hung carefully above the billiard table. The beach, available to the public, was pristine with it's black round rock and felt amazing to walk on. The only concern I'd mention to future guests, is it is a remote location. Don't expect fantastic cell service. I was lucky to have service most of the time but my partner did not once we pulled away from the Inn. Although, the Inn does offer wifi to guests. So many vintage details, and it had a very comfortable bed. Definitely odd to take a bath/shower right in the same room, but it was very relaxing. I definitely recommend going up all the flights of stairs to the top of the water tower if you're able to! It's the tallest building in the area, so you have a real clear view of the whole Fort Bragg area. One thing to note: I didn't feel completely confident in how the keypad door lock worked and had to try it multiple times. I arrived really late, otherwise I would've found someone to help. Some clearer directions would've helped. I had to head out the next day, but wish I could've had more time to enjoy the yard and explore the main house of the property.
