We stayed here for one night as we were driving up the coast. It's right across the street from a Tesla supercharger and very close to sea glass beach. Room was sufficient and staff was helpful. The price was very reasonable for a stop at 10p and leave at 8a type of place. The overall lot was very quiet. The office is completely closed at night, a phone number is posted on the night widow but it is never answered, so if you accidentally get locked out, you're stuck outside until they answer. It's 6:25am and the office is still dark and locked up. I called, to no avail, so I'm stuck sitting in the rain... The rooms are not worth the extremely expensive price I was charged. read more

It used to be a good place to stay, now that is run by different people, it has gone down hill, first off, there was barely any toilet paper in the bathroom, when we asked for more towels at check in they said "you have adequate towels in your room" which we did not, then there was stains on the towels and bedding and the nightstand was very wobbly, and the outlets are a fire hazard as the plugs barely go inside, and the mini fridge was a joke it was on the floor and didnt even come up to my knee, only a couple sodas layed down could fit, and another thing, they no longer give a discount for the mini golf, and that place is expensive for such a small course, anyways I was just very disappointed read more

I asked for a refund or change rooms they did nothing (NOT Right!) to accommodate me just kept making the loud noises early in the morning I love visiting Fort Bragg but this place ruined my experience I will never come back here i paid for a quiet room and good night sleep which i didn't get being they woke me up at 8am with construction that i was not told about I would have never stayed there. I have to say after reading some of the reviews I was starting to get worried about our stay here. There was nothing to worry about! The hotel was clean, I did not see any transient people camped outside the rooms or in the bushes. I wondered all around the hotel at different hours with my pups and had no problems. The staff was super friendly. They have a sheet, bowl and biscuits for your pup on arrival. Coffee shop is close and its a great location. Its super quiet at night and only a little traffic noise in the day. Perfect base to explore the area. The only thing I didn't like was no aircon. You have a cross breeze if you open the windows and a fan, which in normal circumstances would be enough. Not great if your dog is protective though. All around great place! read more

This hotel sits right next to a mini golf place and I've heard if you book your stay through this hotel directly, you get a free round but don't quote me on that. At any rate, the hotel has a large green area to bring your dogs to do their business which was perfect. Additionally, this hotel is next to the water with a nice trail for a perfect brisk walk. The only negative I have about our stay is that our room was super muggy and hot all night which was extremely uncomfortable. Last March 2025 I had to cancel my reservation as my dog of 15 yrs passed away. They still charged me $100.56. I called my bank to dispute and was credited the $100.56. Today on May 13th i noticed a charge again of $100.56 charged on my debit card. I never stayed there nor will i ever. Again, watch out when this place charges you. We stayed for one night with a family of four and a dog. For the price, it was comfortable. The road noise was a bit much, but with a fan and my white noise machine, it was manageable. There didn't seem to be any air-conditioning, but there was a fan that we could use in the room. Since we had a pet friendly room, it had wood floors and was close to the golf course side of the motel, where there is a large grass field for pets to go to the bathroom. We had been looking forward to the free round of mini golf that had been advertised with our stay, but turns out it was just a coupon for $2.75 off of a round of golf, which was $10 each. So we decided not to spend money on that. The included breakfast was just small yogurts, juices, granola bars, and individually wrapped danishes. Nothing special, but, a quick grab and go option. The front desk help was very friendly, and the beds were reasonably comfortable. Since we paid extra for the dog fee, it was very cute that they gave us a little basket with an extra towel and sheet for her to use, as well as a couple of biscuits and a food dish in case we forgot ours. They need to spray for bugs. There was a dead spider over the mirror when we came into the room. There was a dead rolie polie next to the shower. Unsavory, but not terrible. I got a room for my son - his was full of mosquitoes. I had their room switched, and they were fine from them on aside from the paper thin walls. We woke up to a spider jamboree. I was glad I slept with full length pjs and socks. We spoke to the gentleman in the next room - he described lots of spiders and rolie polies, so he got bug spray. I respect that, I just prefer to stay where the proprietors can afford to be proactive about extermination needs. NEVER AGAIN. read more

After a 4 hour drive we arrived in our room. When we entered our room, my husband I immediately noticed the smell of stale cigarette smoke. It was overwhelming. Now, I'm not one to speak up to management, but it being my birthday weekend, I decided to push back. I went to the front reception and told them about the smell. Instead of offering us the opportunity to change rooms, he told me smoking is not allowed in the rooms. Yes, I'm sure that's true, BUT our room smelled like cigarette smoke. Someone had been smoking in that room. Both my husband and I were children of smokers, we know what cigarette smoke smells like. I was livid. Instead of doing the decent thing and offering us another room, his solution was to visit our room with air freshener. So now our room smells like potpourri atop stale cigarette smoke, awesome. Just. Awesome. I was livid. Also, the pillows sucked. Never not bringing my own pillow again. I'm very reasonable, amiable, and easygoing. I'm in no shape or form a "Karen", so for me to write this negative review, the service had to be spectacularly bad. I'm not saying don't stay there, I'm saying that when we return in March with our son to celebrate his birthday, we will not be returning to this establishment. Take heed and use caution. We called on the way to Fort Bragg hoping to get a room for the night. The urgency was to get ahead of the predicted storm. A very nice man helped us and was very accommodating. We only needed to stay one night before checking into our vacation rental. It was very important to me to keep an eye on my car. I was able to see my car right outside the door. His wife was very nice as well. The check-in and check-out process was explained and we ready to hunker down for the night. The room was very clean and spacious. The bedding and bed were very comfortable with a variety of pillows to choose from. The heater worked well. There was a fan that we used to keep any noise to a minimum. I thoroughly enjoyed my three-night stay. Tracy welcomed me at check-in and we had a great conversation about local attractions. In fact, every employee I interacted with was very friendly. The room (king bed, couch, fireplace) was spotless and welcoming. The refrigerator was sometimes a bit noisy, but I think most are. After each day exploring Fort Bragg, I looked forward to returning to Emerald Dolphin. It's walking distance to a nice shopping center, a few other restaurants and shops and a short drive to everywhere else. The first night, I walked down the road to Pomo Bluffs Park to see the spectacular sunset and a stunning double rainbow. You get a free round of golf when you book directly. I had a family emergency and advised the hotel of as much the morning of my pending arrival. I was told by someone at the front desk that I hadn't prepaid and would not be charged. I was later told that it was up to booking.com to refund my money as booking.com kept their fee. Booking.com told me the refund came done the property, which makes sense. I was charged the full amount for two days I was unable to stay there. My calls to them went unreturned. If you book a stay there, hopefully you don't have a last minute emergency as they will keep every single dime. Update: First of all, I didn't realize after the first night that things would take a turn for the worse so I had to cancel the second night. Second, so basically the person I spoke to the first day was dishonest when they told me there would not be an issue. Third: how can someone cancel 78 hours in advance when the reservation wasn't even made 78 hours in advance? Your "policy" really penalizes people making last minute travel arrangements. Where to start... we stayed here while visiting Fort Bragg and it was quite lovely. The room was adorable and my wife had it decorated for me for my birthday by the hotel staff. I think the room pictured in the photo on their page was actually our room. Everything was smooth from check in to check out and we loved our jacquzzi room. The staff are friendly and attentive. We got to mini golf on the last day, what a blast. A cute little golf course and arcade room where my wife played some pin ball. A perfect place to stay while visiting Fort Bragg. Everyone is so nice! I came in to town and desperately needed somewhere to stay for 3 nights before my place was ready. I called and the front desk manager who answered the phone was so beyond nice. I was able to book a room. Upon arrival and checking in, the manager I spoke to on the phone gave me such a warm welcome. This made my day. Plus, you get a free voucher for a round of mini golf that is located on the property. The room is amazing! I had the two queen size bed room that was beyond spacious. This could hold up to 4 people. The amenities include: a portable fan (which I was so happy to see because I am always hot), tv, dvd player, directv cable, movies to rent, nice size small fridge, keurig, iron and board, bathtub/shower and ice machine. Also a safe for extra fees. The room smelled so clean and inviting when I entered and the towels were shaped as bows. I love the little details! I really recommend this place. read more

I HATE staying at hotels Id rather bring our RV or tent camp if we're adventuring because they are always so dirty. After extensive searching and combing through reviews since I couldn't find our usual chain hotels in the area I settled on Emerald Dolphin and I am pleased, shocked and delighted really, with the cleanliness! While doing my usual, extensive bed bug search (searching through crack in the walls, taking apart linen on the bedding to search for blood stains and combing seems on furniture) I haven't found the usual piles of dust, food splattered walls or finger print smudges on glass. Dare I say.. our white socks are not stained black on the bottoms due to dirty carpets. There is obviously mold in the walls cause my asthma is intense this morning but that is to be expected being so close to the beach. We DID however, have a problem with the noise levels during the night but management took care of that right away. Just bring ear plugs if you're sensitive. I can hear a mouse fart 5 miles away so I carry ear plugs every where. Front desk is clean and pretty and the guy that helped us was so nice and polite. Maintaining eye contact and a warm smile always goes a long way! Hopefully I'll remember to update this post after we leave about the rest of our stay. read more

Highlights: - Great place to stay with your dog! - No AC, but windows open and fan provided - Field for potty walks, but poor lighting and no "poo dedicated" bin - Close to several beaches, parks and easy access to the highway to more! We stayed two nights with our little dog and had a wonderful time in the area. The beds were comfy, the room was spacious and the shower was had nice pressure and reliable temperature control. There was a small refrigerator, but no microwave. They provide a towel for wiping dirty paws and a sheet that I layed on the floor and put her bed on top of, it also came with a couple of treats and water/ feeding bowls. I travel often and finding hotels is one of my favorite parts of planning but when we decided to visit the Mendocino coast last week, I found myself pretty discouraged. There are plenty of options but, on first glance, none seem too good. I spent hours (that is not an exaggeration) looking at hotels, reading reviews and comparing costs and ultimately I settled on Emerald Dolphin Inn. I think I made the right decision. This place is kitsch. I have to assume it is the "Emerald" Dolphin because the tacky green carpet won't be replaced anytime soon and it already had the ostentatious dolphin fountain out front. My room literally looked like something you create when you are playing The Sims for the first time, but you know what? I liked it! From the portable fireplace mantle to the triangular jetted tub it was budget fancy! There is also a mini golf / arcade across the parking lot and because we were guests, we got a discount. For $5 each, I was able to CRUSH my husband at 18 holes of mini golf by 12 strokes! Plus they have a free continental breakfast and since the lobby is tiny, they provide trays for you to bring it back to your room, which I absolutely loved! Sure, a satellite TV that doesn't stall for 30 seconds everytime you change the channel, a latching shower door and conveniently located outlets would have been nice, but overall we had a lovely stay and we would absolutely come back. The pet friendly rooms could use some updating and new bead spreads but they are always clean. There is a mini fridge and they provide pet bowls and treats for your pup. Quiet even though right next to the highway. Be careful with your belongings in your vehicle. I accidentally left the passenger side door unlocked of our truck that was parked right outside the room window. I left my expensive sunglasses on the dash and they were gone in the morning. This town looks quaint and safe, but we noticed a lot of homeless hidden amongst the throngs of tourists. They troll around looking for cars to break into. Saw one car that had its back door wide open after someone broke into it. Pretty, quaint town, but plagued by the city garbage. Internet cuts in and out a lot. read more

I do some traveling and I have a knack for seeing flaws, it is both a blessing and also a curse. This hotel is at the top for TLC. I don't see stains on the carpet, the walls are flawless, the furniture is not scraped up, the place is sooo... clean. Housekeeping is on it. Seems that when I stay the drain in the shower won't go down. It happens so often that I am tempted to bring a snake in my suitcase to clear the drain. My husband and I have been staying here for years. It's always been my go-to for staying in Fort Bragg. The grounds are very well kept, and clean. In the mornings we enjoy walking around the large field that the property owns to bird watch. You'll find white crown sparrows, American robins, western blue birds, hawks, and great blue herons among many other neat birds. There is a gorgeous beach about 10 minutes walking distance from the rooms called the Babcock beach. The employees are always so friendly. Kim the owner is a doll! She always provides exceptional customer service, and makes sure that you are happy with your stay. The rooms are immaculate, never dirty or smelly. I called to get a room with a dog. They said they had a dog friendly room. When I arrived was late at night and when I finally saw the room I was shocked at how small it was. I found out it was not a dog friendly room. It was a converted closet. I could not open the bathroom door without moving a chair and the shower was broken. I woke up the next morning and went in to ask if I could at least pay for the night I stayed and find another hotel for the second night. They just flatly said no and did nothing to make my stay any better at all. I regret ever going there. I was charge almost 800 dollars for two nights in a closet. read more

I'll start with the positives - it was the nicest hotel we saw in person once we arrived in Fort Bragg, they have a mini golf course on-site that you get one free game to with the booking, and it has easy access. However... it was $275 per night, for NO air conditioning!! I understand it's on the coast, it was 55 degrees each day - but the window only opens a crack, and the rooms were muggy and HOT. They obviously expect that, because there are standing plug in room fans. But I hate to have air blowing on me all the time, it irritates my skin. We tried leaving the door open for awhile, but then it's loud (from other guests, cars on the main road, and guests at the mini golf). The TV had issues the entire time - and they expect this as well, because there's a printed, laminated card with some suggestions, but it didn't fix all of the issues. Service kept going out, the channels froze, it randomly changed channels... And although their listing on other sites shows there is a pool - there is NOT, so that was a bummer. Check out time is 11, but check in time wasn't until 4 - who starts their vacation at 4?!? So we had to kill extra time before we could access our room. And the mini golf place? Needs a lot of fixing up, I had to clean off the green on every hole, because there were rocks, trash and Cheetos tossed everywhere - they obviously don't maintain it during the day, since there was only one employee. All in all, I wouldn't stay here again. read more
