Great service, good communication and fantastic price to get my Audi A3 waterpump replaced in just 1 day! After calling around in SC I found that prices went from $1K - $2K! The highest price being from a small mechanic on the East side and he said it would take 7-8 days??? What? I started calling around and found Westside is a certified Mechanic for many years with great reviews so I called & spoke to Juan. I explained what was happening to my car/warring lights/leaking coolant and he took his time to look up and ask me questions to determine how long it would take and quoted me a price that was $200 less and told me he could get the parts the next day - all over the phone. I limped my car to him on Wed. afternoon & he delivered on everything! When I picked up my car I had a few questions about other things that might need to be done (104k miles) and he showed me on his computer where things are located and scheduled maintaince for my exact car. He educated me and didn't try to get more money from me - he's a very honest guy who didn't try to squeeze more money out of me.(since I don't know much about engines) I've recommeded my daughter go there too for her Tundra since Juan is polite, honest and knowledgable mechanic. These guys are TOP NOTCH! Based on two times going to them so far. Here's why I had great experiences... First time:: Had a pretty impressive power steering leak in my Highlander. First went to another shop in Live Oak ran but a young guy. Said I had this part and that part gone bad, he needed to special order them, etc. After keeping my car an ENTIRE week, without calling me back nor returning my calls; ultimately did and said he didn't have time to get to it. Went to the fam at Westside Auto based on a rec from a friend. Not only did they get me in the day I called, they fixed it the day I called! Was an easy to fix leak in a rubber hose and nothing more. Super cheap and super fast fix. Not a single problem since. Excellent work dudes! Second time:: Had a wheel bearing go super bad in the same Highlander. I didn't hesitate to call these guys up. Fixed it within a day. Vehicle is riding as smooth as butter. I could not be more grateful for not only the quality of work they do, but how quick they are with the work, how responsive they are, and how easy they are to get a hold of. I will 100% recommend them to everyone I can, and I am super happy to support this awesome locally owned and operated small westside SC business. These are the gems you want to discover! I was traveling from out of town, on a rainy day by myself and my car died on me. After someone jump started me, I called this shop and asked if someone could take a look at it, just so I know what's wrong. The person said yes, they could take a look at my car. After I got to their shop, the person at the counter said someone will take a look at it; however, the mechanic basically refused and said they were too busy. I asked several times if they could check the battery, alternator, and the started so I know what the problem was. It was a categoric no. I ended up taking my car to another business, and it took them less than 5 minutes to check what the problem was. I gave them 2** because they did answer the phone. read more

My daughter came into this place on the weekend because her car was misfiring - my diagnosis from hundreds of miles away. I did note to her that spark plug wires came loose when I drove it at home so tell "the guy" that a spark plug wire might be loose. Long story short - I'm pretty sure it was the wires but we got charged $140+ to fix that. My daughter did play with the dog - he was nice and it seems like things were fixed but $140+ to solve looks a bit steep. Juan was nice from what I heard and since my daughter couldn't tell where the spark plugs or even radiator is, he might have put extra effort in to making sure it was right. He did charge for it though. Not knowing costs there, I would have thought $50 - $75 is pretty reasonable so my feelings are mixed. read more

Westside Auto is an A+ establishment. I needed a new clutch on my Subaru Forester XT and after getting a few quotes from various businesses, I found Juan's quote to be the most reasonable. I supplied my own parts, dropped the car off in the morning, and had it back by late afternoon. Clutch jobs on these Foresters in particular are a bit tedious with the axles to disconnect and a good amount of things to remove in order access the clutch. Not only did Juan do the job quickly, but he did it well. The car feels so much smoother now. I drove from Los Gatos to have Juan do the work instead of going to a closer shop, and I would not hesitate to do it again. read more

I don't know about the rest of their service because my issue was relatively minor. They literally didn't have to do anything aside from discover a driver mishap and alert her to it. And now for the rub: Don't try to use the "10% off if you mention yelp" offer that they promote here. They will come up with an excuse to avoid giving you the discount. Maybe it's just me but when somebody makes a duplicitous offer it rubs me the wrong way. Why not say 10% off to yelpers with a minimum of X? I'm guessing the goalpost gets moved every time. I don't think there's much else that bothers me as much as this. By comparison, see my abundant quantities of five-star yelp reviews for local businesses. Update: I dunno. The reason why I'm giving this a 2 star review is because the price I paid for my visit was Ridiculous. I went in for a simple oil change and tire rotation. Never have I paid more than $65 TOTAL anywhere for a routine service like that. Here, I paid $98 for the same service. As I looked at my bill I noticed there was a $37 LABOR FEE added onto the service.. An absolutely absurd price to pay for a routine maintenance visit like that. The only reason I'm not giving this a 1 star review is that fact that my car got what needed to get done. If you're looking to save money, don't come here. read more

We were driving down to San Diego from Seattle to take my son back to the Marines and taking 101 most of the way. We started hearing a weird sound and pulled over at a gas station. We noticed 3 of our lug bolts had broken off probably from hitting potholes. We could still drive it but slowly. 5 star, I phoned up and they took me the same day, and done in 5 hours and actually called me as soon as it was done. 5 star, friendly doggie, but at first... wowee a big sucka 5 star, cheaper than another business quoted. 3 stars, the place looks slightly worse than the previous owner left it. 1 star, no written estimate as required by law even though I mentioned the lack thereof ("put your name and number and I will fill out the rest", a copy of which I don't get). 1 star, they leave the car keys in the car awaiting pickup. Well I wanted to believe in this place given the good reviews, but definitely got a creepy vibe from it. I did an oil change with them a couple of months ago. Getting an appointment over the phone for my oil change was awkward. I don't think they actually have an appointment book as they do it on the fly. They did have my car ready in two hours, but there was no report on brakes or the battery test which was a disappointment. Then I noticed my fuel economy dropped recently. I checked my invoice again, and they poured in 5w30 when Ford specifies 5w20. I tried calling back to get an appointment to rectify the mistake, and I was hung up on. No greeting, no "Westside Auto how may I help you," I heard the keyboard clicking, and then was hung up on. I will take my business elsewhere. read more
