The range was clean and well maintained, the decks looked pretty fresh with minimal wear, and the man at the front desk was kind and helpful! I'll be coming back!

Nice driving range. Half covered/Half uncovered. Faces west - but not a problem until the sun is setting in Summer.

John was patient with me and did a great job with the techno graphics that were a video that I can use at home.

Staff is always very kind. Nicest and cleanest facility in the area. By far the best place to practice the full swing.

We show up a little late due to missing an exit (by about 7 minutes) but the younger man up front doesn't give us any issues when checking in. We paid and realized it came out to a bit more than expected so I go back in and ask for a some clarification since I didn't get a receipt. The new person up front looks super annoyed that I asked. Turns out the rental clubs got charged at the 18 hole rate so I told him we only planned on 9 holes. He asks me where the cheaper price is and I show him their online website which clearly states $9 and before he even looks he said it was wrong and the prices never got updated. Annoying enough the prices said 2025 rates. Now I know sometimes mistakes happen so I don't really mind the difference in price BUT what I did mind was the attitude. He was sighing, rolling his eyes and his overall general tone was just rude. I never got a sorry or anything for the misunderstanding. As of Monday when I checked, they updated their pricing to reflect what I was charged. Anyway, now we head out to the first hole. It is probably about 10:35. We line up behind the first hole and there are two groups from earlier times still playing ahead of us so realistically none of this set anyone back, right? The two groups finish up and it's probably 10:45 by the time we're up to hit. Well, guess what! Some older guy asked us when our tee time was. We said 10:20 and he's mad. He tells us we're almost half an hour late even though we were waiting behind two groups who JUST finished. Says he doesn't even know if we can play because now we'll set EVERYONE back. Mind you the next group was not even behind us yet. He makes us wait while he scurries around to ask other staff he we can go I presume. After about 4-5 minutes he waves us off to start. We are relatively fast players. We had no issue getting to the second hole before the next group was ready to play. It really just ruined our whole experience. We didn't feel welcomed at all. My sister look so frustrated she could cry. We only ran into ONE nice staff member and he looked like an instructor. Spoke to us very nice and made sure we had all the clubs we paid for. Other players on the course were also nice luckily. This is all really unfortunate because the course was a fun and pretty well kept. I did also leave a similar review on their survey and was contacted by Joe. He was nice through email and offered to cover our next trip but I really do not think we will be back.

He pointed us in the direction and proceeded to tell us "We're packed today so make sure you keep up with the group in front of you." On the 7th hole the Marshall told one of my friends to go ahead and hit his ball (from the fairway). My friend informed him that his ball was further up but he was pointing out where my son's ball was. At the turn the starter pointed out where the 10th tee was and then stopped us as we were passing him. He told us that we were behind and needed to pick up our pace. I looked at my phone and realized we were exactly 2 hours 15 minutes from our tee time. I made the comment "2 hours 15 minutes is behind?" and he said "You should be at 2 hours 8 minutes." I'm not gonna lie, this frustrated me and I started hurrying, which negatively affected my game. All of my group was frustrated. It probably shouldn't have affected me as much as it did but I didnt have fun on the back 9. I even picked up my ball on one of the holes because I wasn't playing well and just wanted to finish. One of my friends told me that this happened to him twice before at Heron Lakes. When we finished the starter came out to tell us that we really picked up the pace. I wasn't happy and told him "You didn't give us much of a choice and it affected our game and we didn't have fun." He replied "We're pretty strict about pace of play" to which I replied "I get it, but we weren't holding anyone up." He didn't have a response. None of my group will be going back because it ruined what could have been a great day!

After trying out multiple instructors in the Portland area (Redtail, Pumpkin Ridge, Rock Creek) and several others in the US (at least 50 hours of total instruction), Golftec stands out to me as one of the best setups for a golfer looking to improve. Michael's approach on the game is multifaceted, not just how best to swing a club. We go through swing mechanics on an indoor simulator and apply them during playing lessons on-course. Short-game and putting lessons have been the weakest part of my game, but now are a more confident part of my game. Instruction on strategy and course management has dramatically increased my percentage of hitting greens on approach shots. Michael's engineering background, his deep knowledge of the game, and his passion for instruction helped me better understand my golf game. I now am better equipped to self diagnose and fix day-to-day adjustments in my swing. The facility also allows for indoor practice on a simulator which is key for off-season improvement to ready for the new season. The video recording/playback in the practice sessions allows you to see whether or not the swing mechanics taught during lessons are being implemented during practice. This feature has increased the efficacy of my practice sessions in a way I couldn't have imagined previously. I can write another page worth of praise for Michael and Golftec, but it's just easier for you to try it yourself. Go in for a swing evaluation; it's $95 and it's likely you'll walk away from that session with actual solutions that work rather than YouTubing/Instagraming a fix that will cause more problems than it fixes.
