Although I love the Publix method which is to phone in your refills, typing in the script # and leaving any special instructions via voicemail then receiving a robo call a day or so later notifying the customer the prescription is ready for pick up and the pharmacy hours and the always quick drive through pick up, Athens Pharmacy is super responsive to phone call refill requests, and is very friendly, offering same day refills. The drive through had about 3 cars waiting when I arrived earlier this week and I just walked in, and had about a five-minute wait to complete my transaction. Well, 10minutes probably, since I accidentally dumped my wallet out at the checkout (Momma didn't name me Grace!!!) Another customer was kind enough to hand me a couple of things that fell out of my wallet that I overlooked. I enjoyed looking at the small section of what looked like hand painted Athens-themed Christmas ornaments for sale, on the way out. Thanks Athens Pharmacy for offering an old school, hometown feeling pharmacy that really offers anything you could need including greeting cards, candles and a good assortment of gift items in addition to all the standard pharmacy and home care items you are accustomed to seeing.

Although this Wal Mart is pretty sketchy, since at least one person (maybe two) were shot in the parking lot, I boldly went to this Wal Mart for the first time since living maybe 6 miles away from it for over 15 years. The order was scheduled for pickup today after 11 AM but was actually ready around 4:45 yesterday. I arrived around 5, found my way to the designated pickup parking spaces (they have 16) and I chose 16 because it's my favorite number. Checked in via text and received a text that someone would deliver my item shortly. I set a timer on my phone and "shortly" was actually 15 minutes. The young lady who brought my items to my car was so sweet and apologetic, and seriously all 16 pick up parking spaces were full, so how can you be mad about a brief wait. This Wal Mart's pickup is vastly inferior to the Wal Mart on 72 west which is about the same distance away and I'll likely use it in the future since I have had exceptional experiences there. The Athens WM could benefit from the pickup set up at the Madison WM which includes a kiosk to check in and a covered area under which you park, I think 3 cars can fit under the covering at one time meaning you are comfy in the hottest sunshine, the most torrential rain, and even sleet and snow. Plus, the employees are protected from the elements too! Thanks Athens WM for providing the inexpensive Christmas cookie cutters and Merry Christmas to you!

He said "I can take care of that for you so you don't have to worry about it." So here's the thing. He didn't have to do that. He took it the extra step and completely exceeded my expectations. Arriving ten minutes before my appointment there was a loooong line at the pharmacy. The special garage door for COVID Vaccines was closed with signage indicating ask at the pharmacy desk for FREE take home tests. No thanks. I waited in the line behind six others who were there for a variety of things, most picking up prescriptions. Fifteen minutes later I made it to the front. There was a bit of confusion as to whether I needed additional paperwork (I competed it in the app). I was sent to have a seat and wait. Seven seats and they were all taken, so I stood. I have no problem with standing--I'm merely pointing out that they were oversubscribed. I was called back up and given...paperwork. Why would I spend time in the online system to "expedite" my visit..,only ti do it manually at the pharmacy? Furthermore, why would I fill out the same Vaccine Administration Record questionnaire for each shot? Then there was an employee shift change. Evidentially the app allowed me and some others to schedule at this awkward time. I waited for a full hour after my appointment. Each time there was an immunization the person administering it would lock up and disappear for a cigg break or something for 10 minutes. Must be unionized. I would have left, but they had my immunization record and I don't feel like recreating that. This place stinks to get in and out of, and frankly I avoid it because of that. I wouldn't be here tonight if they had not offered me an appointment. Bottom line--save yourself the frustration and an evening. Go to Walmart for your vaccines. Most certainly avoid this Walgreens.

Talk about customer service, the technician was having some problems getting my migraine medication to transfer, as soon as the pharmacist was free, she called him over and told me what was the issue. Insurance refusing to pay for it, my neurologist has to send documentation, blah blah blah. The pharmacist assured me, he already sent the paperwork to my neurologist and didn't have to worry about transferring my meds, just send the request and they would have it ready for me. Glad I chose this location!
