I placed an online order yesterday for pickup around 3:30 because hu hubs who loves to bake needed star shaped cookie cutters. Although this Wal Mart is pretty sketchy, since at least one person (maybe two) were shot in the parking lot, I boldly went to this Wal Mart for the first time since living maybe 6 miles away from it for over 15 years. The order was scheduled for pickup today after 11 AM but was actually ready around 4:45 yesterday. I arrived around 5, found my way to the designated pickup parking spaces (they have 16) and I chose 16 because it's my favorite number. Checked in via text and received a text that someone would deliver my item shortly. I set a timer on my phone and "shortly" was actually 15 minutes. The young lady who brought my items to my car was so sweet and apologetic, and seriously all 16 pick up parking spaces were full, so how can you be mad about a brief wait. This Wal Mart's pickup is vastly inferior to the Wal Mart on 72 west which is about the same distance away and I'll likely use it in the future since I have had exceptional experiences there. The Athens WM could benefit from the pickup set up at the Madison WM which includes a kiosk to check in and a covered area under which you park, I think 3 cars can fit under the covering at one time meaning you are comfy in the hottest sunshine, the most torrential rain, and even sleet and snow. Plus, the employees are protected from the elements too! Thanks Athens WM for providing the inexpensive Christmas cookie cutters and Merry Christmas to you! read more

We moved to Athens, Alabama a few months ago and I have to say this is the worst Walmart Store I have ever been to. The entire store is very dirty, shelves are a mess, and a lot of items are out of stock or not stocked properly. I am not sure if the problem is with the staff or the customers or both. Even the parking lot is very dirty. If there were another alternative, I would not shop at this store any longer. Unfortunately, it's the only Walmart close by. read more

If you use curbside pickup, please do it in the morning. You'll regret it every time you wait until the evening. I haven't had anything happen like this in my life. I ordered my groceries and needed them the following day. They had a time available at 7 so I took it. I got a text saying it would be a two hour delay. That was annoying, but I had no idea how bad it was going to get. They finally alerted me that my order was ready, and I went straight there. I put my information in, and waited over 30 minutes. Finally, I called. She said someone would be right out. A girl came out, but without my order. They had given it to another customer. Just gave it away. And no one knew how to fix all this. It was complete chaos. They lose so much money because once you leave with groceries, even if they aren't yours, they can't take them back. It was hours before it got straightened out. I wrote Wal-Mart Corporate about an issue after giving them a one star review earlier. I was called almost almost immediately by Meredith. She was so friendly and thanked me for my feedback. She asked for specific information and promised to straighten a particular product and ensure they would be in stock on an item. She also told me to call and ask for her if a particular area in the store needed attention in the future. She ensured me they would get the area in neat and orderly condition before I left the store. I was very impressed with how thankful she was for my business. read more

I do love Walmart. It's my one stop shop. I'm always using the money center and I often use the express feature to "skip the line" it irks my nerves because they never have a cashier at the express lane and they often have it blocked off. I'll walk up to the express counter. Have to wait for the other one associate to finish with her current customer then she will usually try to quickly move on to the next one and I'm just standing down there like "excuse me I have an express transaction" then I get attitude not only from the cashier but from the other customers in line because I get to go ahead of them. If they had a designated express cashier this could be avoided. read more

I called them twice in store. I asked no less than 4 associates to get a car battery 20 minutes after automotive closed. I STILL haven't gotten any help getting a battery. This store is so bad ... I have never had a positive experience unless I was wiring money .. those ladies at the money center always are able to do thier job & are friendly! If only the rest of the employees were this way. Either the produce is bruised, or the milk is sour or the products are constantly moved to a different spot! That is annoying! Poor customer service constantly changing items around rude employees there website says they have an item in stock when they really don't

The cash register lady that I had was very rude to me and my aunt at the register. My aunt had forgot her wallet in the car and didn't notice until after we had our items on the counter. My aunt ran to the car to get her wallet and made it back just in time for the last few items. My aunt began to pay for the items with her card. While she was doing so, the cash register lady was telling us to hurry up and put our items in our cart. She continued saying this the whole time I was putting them in the cart. We were not treated the way customers should be treated, and I had a very bad time there. read more

I was highly humiliated and embarrassed by a Walmart employee at the Walmart super center in Athens al! As I was leaving the store, after shopping for over an hour, I was asked to have my bags checked to match up to my receipt! I handed the jerk my receipt and asked him what was the problem!! He would not answer me and told me to just do as he asked, which I was doing, then he told me to follow him to the security room so he could check it in depth! I told him how embarrassing this was an he's smerked as we walked in front of everyone. He was calling other employees over to assist us like I was some criminal! Once we got in the security room him and another lady checked everything in detail and realized I was right!! Everything was rang up! All they had to say was sorry for the confusion and said thanks for the cooperation and to have a nice day!! Isn't this illegal? I came home and basically had a nervous breakdown after realizing how humiliating they just made me look and for no reason at all! He could have checked my bag at the door and resolved all of the happening! I will pursue any action I can take!! He had i right doing that to me!! read more
