We go here frequently for the drive-thru ATM service, but we were here recently, tuesday night, to add my husband to my checking account. There are drive-thru hours (two lanes) until 1 pm every saturday (unless it is a holiday). Lobby hours are until 6 pm weekdays. There is a water cooler inside the lobby. You can deposit with the teller via tv screen inside the lobby. Trevor assisted us and apologized frequently for the system being slow. Considering that we were unable to do the same at US Bank (hubby's bank), I was thankful that we were able to complete this process. Credit was pulled. Hubby got a debit card. Four choices. I think that it took about forty minutes. Trevor was nice and was professional. Thank You, Trevor! There were very few customers inside the lobby. It's very nice. It was clean as well. There were many chairs for customers. Our son was comfortable (entertained with a cell phone). Trevor mentioned that the location was understaffed. There was a sign regarding the Labor Day holiday. There were floor stickers with six foot of distance. There is hand sanitizer too. read more

I reached out to this credit union in regards to there fresh start checking account and was advised after explaining our situation and fraud we got on another checking account this would be the best option to apply for and we should be good to go. Well after applying a few days later received a letter stating we didn't qualify for this checking account. Why tell someone and offer this if you are not being honest about the account. read more

They can't send through drive thru a large sum, so they tell you to go in, and it's pretty much the same thing you don't see the teller and they send it through the machine the same way the drive through is. I was searching for an auto loan credit union to buy out my lease and went to WestStar Credit Union located on Sunset Rd. When I entered, I was greeted by their Financial Services Representative, Ms. Luenna Smitley. She was very nice and informative in the process of application. After going to multiple credit unions that day, I selected WestStar as they had the lowest interest rate. Ms. Smitley and I communicated via e-mail, sending all the required documents to start my application. I had approximately a week to complete this process, as my dealership requested the total amount of the residual check to be delivered on a specific set date reflected on the initial contract. I advised Ms. Smitley of my situation and she was reassuring in the fact the application would usually take 1- 3 business days. My first roadblock occurred with Ms. Smitley after submitting all the requested documents. She stated she needed the actual vehicle registration form (which I lost at the beginning of the year). I purchased via DMV portal a copy, which included the Nevada seal and receipt (proof of payment), of my registration for $5.00. She stated she was not able to accept, as it was the decision of the underwriters and that there was nothing she would be able to do. The next day I went to a DMV kiosk machine and purchased a copy for $9.00. For whatever reason, she accepts this form, but not the initial printout from the DMV portal. This is where everything became difficult and confusing on my end. Once everything was submitted, I requested for the breakdown of the monthly payments for the selected term, interest rate, and down-payment. When Ms. Smitley informed all the information and my estimated monthly payment, I noticed it was different from the initial one she provided when I first met her. When I asked for the change, she stated it was due to the interest rate rising the last couple of days. I was very confused, but eventually found out it was because she canceled my application when I wasn't able to provide the original vehicle registration form she requested. In our e-mail communication (which I currently have a record of), I asked her to place my application on pause while I would figure out a way to provide my vehicle registration. Ms. Smitley politely apologized, but due to my situation being time sensitive, I wanted to proceed with the application. Things became even more confusing and stressful when I asked her if I would be able to provide her $5,000 in down payment, and what my new estimated monthly interest would be. Ms. Smitley stated my monthly price would not change as I am agreeing upon a fixed term and interest rate (she did say I could refinance later). I advised her, due to my down payment, my total payment would change, along with a new monthly payment. After going back and forth with Ms. Smitley (she even tried to give me a scenario of purchasing a new home) she agreed with what I was attempting to explain from the beginning. At this point, I was very frustrated, stressed, and concerned about her ability in completing my requested application correctly. I felt that I couldn't rely upon and lost my trust in her in this difficult situation. The last thing which occurred that made me make up my mind was before departing the place, she asked how much I was making hourly while having the copy and reviewing my paystubs. I was completely dumbfounded and just pointed (it clearly states on the paystub) to where it was located on the paystub and walked away. I knew I had to find another credit union immediately. I ended up going to Clark County Credit Union and their representatives completed the whole application process in 1-day. The next day, everything was approved and they even had the check mailed out to my dealership. The entire process and final transaction were finalized within 3 business days. I am not the type of person to vent my frustration with an unsatisfying experience by writing a review, but I had to so I can inform others to not go through the same experience as I had. I have been with this credit union the entire time I have been in Vegas, and have always had great help there. Recently a young lady named Star, (and she is a star in my opinion) made my life so much easier than I could ever imagine! I was paying off my house and the paperwork I had received from the bank holding the mortgage sent me 2 pages of what to do, and what would not be accepted, to achieve this goal. I put this challenge off for days, and finally dragged myself into the Westar lobby, Star who was at the lobby desk took my ID and the paperwork I had with me, and with in 10 minutes she had completed all the necessary items, and I walked out of the bank free and clear, mortgage paid off in full!!!!! She was smart and pleasant and I will always be grateful to her for making that day a piece of cake!!! read more

West star allowed $500.00 to be taken out of my checking account without my permission. This transaction started as pending, informed Weststar of the error, not even an answer from them. Was told sorry someone used your atm card - impossible since it was always in my purse - was told to go to the branch and fill out a fraudulent report - then told I would have to wait at least 7 to 10 days to get my money back. Poor service, have been member for 25# years, seriously considering where to move my funds. Branch personnel is wonderful, backup management horrible. read more

My wife has this bank because everyone at her work said its a good bank. But I notice so many inconvenience. First off you have to go into the bank to make certain transaction or you have to go to only certain 7eleven location which has there atm so you don't get charges on any fee. When you have a negative on your account the bank still lets you use your debit card and guess what of course they hit you with overdraft fees. Which is almost $40. Adds up to all the purchases. I could use that money for gas. Don't waste your time with this bank. It ain't worth the time and money. read more

I have been with Weststar for about two years now and have had good service with them. I have usually gone to the branch on Harmon or the branch in Henderson. Today I went to this branch on Sunset and I had a very good experience. As I entered I was greeted by Aaron and she was so nice. I had a few items of business to conduct she helped me with everything. She went out of her way to make suggestions on different ways I could handle things that would most benefit me. I am very grateful for how I was treated and based on that experience this location will now be my primary location to conduct business. read more

Terrible business practices. Dishonest management. They withhold credit holds for days on end. They require their customers to jump through hoops just to gain access to their funds. They force businesses to write letters on corporate letter heads, forcing businesses to jump through hoops too. Terrible terrible people. read more

They definitely do not santize between transaction for drive thru and even tho they say they are helping during covid, I've only known that during the first month or 2 of shutdown. This is the second time their ATM has eaten my deposit . First time it was cash and I got it deposited into my account quickly but now my check and it was never deposited into my account . Can't speak for the service but for the ATM do not use ! Very frustrating because now I'll have to wait until next week to get my money ! Ridiculous. Please get a new atm . Don't even bother opening up an account with this bank if you are a busy person who likes to use an ATM. Their ATM is ALWAYS out of service. I usually come about twice a week and 99% of the time I have to find another coop ATM. I finally decided I'm done and will not use them again. read more

I have been banking with Weststar Credit union for several years. I like the bank . Which you are probably wondering WHY Sharr ???... Why ??? would you only give THREE STARS if you like them? Simple... I feel inconvenienced by my bank. When I signed up for my account I was assured that there would "eventually be a branch in Henderson" Well after about 8 years of banking ... they still haven't bothered. I know that there are many members of Weststar Credit Union in the Henderson/Green Valley area, and we ALL have to drive out of our way to either make deposits ... or visit the bank to do business. INCONVENIENT! I have to drive to the Durango branch because by freeway it is the shortest distance. Everything else is in the middle of downtown and who in their right mind wants to deal with the strip and it's traffic issues? NOT ME! Because of the distance, I usually end up at the branch after hours which means I have to make a deposit in the ATM machine. Which puts a hold on cash available. *not helpful* I think the people at Weststar are all awesome and generally I receive over the top customer service .. In fact their security for information is above and beyond. They always let me know when there is suspicious activity, and verify odd transactions... They have caught fraudulent activity long before I would have even known it took place. (I should probably add another star for that ... but right now .. I am still a little miffed) Today when I called to verify my deposit that I made last night to see when funds would be available , I was put on hold while I was still talking. errmmm what?! I work in a career where I provide customer service. I try to acknowlege people who provide good service and I RARELY complain even when bad service is given .. but you know what? inconvenience and rudeness.. is inexcusable .. sorry! read more

Very very bad service !!!they send out a pre approval letter for an auto refinance saying you're pre-approved they waste your time don't call you back when your not approved and it just sounds like its a gimmick !! anybody gets any pre approval letters in the mail from West Star credit union don't fully believe that you're actually getting preapproved for a refinance!! read more

I have been banking with this credit union for years so the recent technological failures are beyond disappointing. With the onset of chip cards and a new online banking, the poor attention to detail is astounding! Currently I am locked out of everything despite accurate passwords and even a visit to the branch today. On top of that they have the nerves to be understaffed! I'm disgusted and seriously considering taking my money out of there altogether and go where the technology keeps up with today's demands and where they staff according to the anticipated needs of the customers during a major transition/overhaul. read more

I recently tried to move $100 cash from my personal checking to my joint account at WestStar Credit Union. The WestStar account has been open nearly 20 years so I felt safe in depositing a check from my personal account elsewhere (Open approx 8 years) into the WestStar account. Much to my disappointment not one penny of the check was available to me (which is in violation of check availability rules as laid out in Reg CC requirements). I was then charged a $38.50 nsf fee. I was so irritated and called the branch at 8395 E Sunset to request an explanation. Not only was the person on the phone a bit sharp in her responses her tone of voice and mannerism made it clear I was a source of irritation and she had no intention of being helpful. Worst credit union EVER!! Horrible customer service. Can only talk to a person on a ATM screen @ the Sunset Rd location. The 3 employees in the lobby cannot help you & don't even bother introducing themselves to you. They would hold my paycheck hostage for 10 business days (2 wks) before releasing any of MY money to ME! They would charge me an overdraft fee & not even notify me until 3 months later. When I asked to please mail me a copy of what they "claimed" to have sent me in the mail, I still never got a copy & when I closed my account with them they never sent me my last statement like I asked either. They wanted to charge me almost $30 just because I wanted to take my money & business elsewhere. I've only belonged to credit unions my entire 50 years & I've never had such rudeness shown to me & I've NEVER heard of holding my own hostage for 2 full weeks! Unacceptable...especially if you want to KEEP new customers from going elsewhere. At my last 2 credit unions, my money was available immediately when I deposited my paychecks. And at my current credit union, ONE NEVADA (God bless them!), it's available immediately as well! It bears repeating, WESTSTAR is the worst credit union I have ever happened upon!!!! Horrendous customer service, and that was from all the tellers I had the pleasure of dealing with & all the way up to the manager.
