On a Saturday afternoon, I found plenty of parking spaces in the parking lots. I shop at only a few of the stores, so the selection of stores could fit my taste better. Nonetheless, I stopped in a few stores, and I bought merchandise in Target and Dollar Tree. This shopping center will not be where I regularly shop, but I was able to stock up on some useful household items.

North Hills Village is a strip mall. I most frequently visit this mall for the Target and the Kuhn's, which sell a good selection of products for hygiene, cleaning, home, groceries, etcetera at reasonable prices. I have always been able to find a good parking spot in the parking lot. The mall is safe and clean. The mall is located along the busy McKnight Road for easy access.

North Hills Village is a retail complex on the McKnight Road corridor. At one time it was an…read moreoutdoor mall and along with Northway Mall an extremely busy shopping center. It was enclosed a number of years ago and did okay as a mall until the mid-1980s. When Ross Park Mall opened up, it sucked all the business away from North Hills Village and Northway. Northway became a second-tier mall and North Hills Village became a big box center. North Hills Village now has Best Buy, Target, Staples, etc. From a dollars and cents point of view, it was probably a wise decision to go big box. But North Hills Village is just like any other big box center found from Seattle to Miami.

They have done such a phenomenal job rehabbing that building. It sat there for so long and…read moredisrepair and I hoped they would do something. Now they have and it's a fun place to go shop, eat and drink. My favorite places in there are Novo Food Hall, Askin Brewery, Heibers, City Winery and Shake Shack. You can get something quick to eat if you lack time before an event at Shake Shack. They have great burgers. Novo is a great place to go and try out all different things from all different Asian foods from Japan, Korea and the Philippines. We've tried several different places and had lots of great dishes. If you need a drink and some good food to wash it down then Aslin is the place to go. They even have trivia nights which are lots of fun. I love going to concerts and City Winery is a fun spot to see a show because it's a small venue which has no bad seats. We have seen. Comedians and concerts there. If you pay in cash at the venue, you can avoid the fees. You can go there for a fun afternoon or a great evening with friends and family.

Shake Shack is also located here. Novo Asian Food Hall is also part of The Terminal as is City Winery. There are also fitness studios, a bookstore, jeweler, and more. Aslin Beer Co. is also at The Terminal. Lots of new places being added. Some of us were resistant to these changes but it seems yinzers and tourists alike are finding love or at least likability for this relatively new space.

At the same time, another employee positioned an iPhone near where we were standing, which made us feel uncomfortable and singled out. We are both African American, and the behavior of the employees felt prejudiced and unnecessary. We entered the store fully intending to purchase fragrances, but left feeling disappointed and unwilling to spend our hard-earned money in an environment where we felt judged rather than welcomed.

This particular Nordstrom Rack is in The Block Northway shopping center. This Nordstrom Rack has two floors. The top level contains merchandise for men, children, and home, and the bottom level contains merchandise for women. I focused on the women's clothing. I saw an assortment of shirts, pants, shorts, dresses, coats, and other apparel that previous retailers could not sell. I recognized brands such as Calvin Klein and Nike, but I had not previously heard of some of the other brands. I thought that the prices were low to moderate. I decided to purchase a pair of UnionBay shorts for $23. The cashier quickly and correctly rang up my purchase.

They even have a really nice farmer's market weekly starting in May. There are so many nice vendors that come weekly. You can get anything from vegetables to meals to lite bites and dessert. They also usually have at least 1-3 food trucks outside too. We also like going to the stores there too. There are so many nice places to buy discount clothes. Paris Baguette is my favorite place there. They have the best pastries. We love the monthly special, chocolate croissants, mochi donuts and sandwiches. The cakes are so moist and delicious. They also have lots of nIce events for kids and families like a safety event and gingerbread houses at Christmas.

Other retailers include CVS Pharmacy, Pet People (which recently opened), Supercuts, Trader Joe's grocery store, and some others. It also has a Cinemark movie theater as well as several restaurants such as Longhorn Steakhouse, Panera, Emiliano's, Gigi's Cupcakes, and Bonefish Grill. I visit McCandless Crossing mostly for the Cinemark and the Longhorn Steakhouse. The entire shopping center is safe and clean, and it has lots of sidewalks and parking spaces. Many residential townhouses are located *right next to* the parking lot, which my husband thinks is funny, but apparently people enjoy living there.
